Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The time has come for a thread all of his own.

The word is that a trade will take place and involve Melbourne's second round draft pick.

Obviously one of the hard nut players out there because he along with Melksham has made one of the hardest decisions.

Is that your word, or something from inside either club?

We certainly look like having one of the hardest edge sides going around, in the not too distant future.

Bloody hell that's great after the decades of being among the softest.

That would make our first pick at approx 45?

Not complaining with the trade, but I hope we can move that up somehow.

Trading next year's 2nd rounder would solve this problem. Still in the 2nd rd this year and the 1st next year

That's how it could pan out Mickey. I asked because I've heard a few posters claim that this year's draft is a very good one. If our first pick does become 45, we are effectively missing out on all the top end talent from this year's draft. Let's hope Jason Taylor can pull another late gem or two out of his proverbial.

I think this draft is good depth wise, so you're right, it would be nice to be in the 2nd round. And next year's high end picks are supposed to be very good, so keeping a 1st rounder would be nice.

We'll see what we have to give up, but hopefully we don't let them screw us over

Another aspect of this move by the MFC to get Hibberd is that it's saying "our window has now opened and we now want senior football ready recruits to finish our prep and polish us up for a tilt.".

Frankly, after giving up our second round pick last year for Melksham, I am really disinclined to repeat the exercise this year, particularly when we don't have a first round pick. I would love Hinberd to threaten to walk for breach of contract and offer them the option of fighting it or taking our fourth round pick.

Hibbert would care little as to which pick gets him to his club of choice, if that's what you are saying CBD, as long as it gets done. However, he will certainly try and avoid the uncertainty of the Grievance Tribunal (which the AFL will no doubt skew Essendrug's way) and get it done by a trade. The GT is a disaster waiting to happen because it could go on beyond the trade/draft period. I don't believe we can do much else but offer them our 2nd rounder from this year or next year. Hopefully next year that equates to pick 36.

Bombers will at least want MFCs 2nd round pick around #30.  We should grab Hibberd and the Bombers 4th round around # 58.

We have a great euchre hand - two Jacks who deserve to play AFL football but can't force their way into the firsts.  It could be an honourable win win.

And how we enjoy memories of Brock Mclean and the 'bruise free football' quote.

It was Mitch Robinson who said that wasn't it?

McLean tried to dob us in for tanking.

Just to throw around some other possible scenarios, how would people feel about:

- Hibberd and Essendons 2016 2nd rounder (19?) - for - Our 2017 first found (12?)

- Hibberd and Essendons 2016 2nd rounder (19?) - for - Salem and our 2016 3rd rounder (46?)

- Hibberd - for - Grimes/other fringe player plus or 2016 3rd round (46?)

Our second round pick is more than fair.

1: Close to value, so I cant see it happening with dodo involved (second thoughts, they may be expecting us to finish higher next year, after priority/compo picks are involved.)

2: they will value Hibberd MUCH higher than Salem, not the other way around.

3: Grimes for ANYONE is pie in the sky, even including pick 46. We haven't played him all year.

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
