Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Agree.

Would love Viney to crunch Pendles and test those ribs out.

Do they play Pendles in the middle where he will get worked over all game by the likes of Viney, Gus, Oliver, Harmes, Bugg and Jonesy?

Or do they play him off half back right in the path of Jesse Hogan?

I will be disappointed if Pendlebury lasts until half time either way

We have gone wrong many times playing the man for years. We're not good at it. Look at how clumsy Bernie Vince looked trying to be tough last week.

We have to just play good hard footy and stuff who is injured from the other side. Focusing on it gets us nowhere.

I disagree Undeeterred. If think we have targeted a few players, particularly last year, where it has directly impacted the results.  Typically it's been the Captain of a leader of the opposition.

Round 1 Gold Coast - Viney targeted Ablett.  His impact was limited and we won.

The game versus Geelong, Viney targeted Selwood and he played sore. We won

Adelaide, Vince gets in Dangerfield's face, narrow loss, we kick straight we probably win.

the 2nd game v Pies, Viney and I think Vandenberg both got Pendlebury a couple of times.  He was sore, output down. We won.

Take out the leaders

Viney on Gablett last year. Then Selwood. Bernie on Dangerfield? We've gone wrong for years playing about three foot from the man and letting them run past us.

You know after 10 minutes which Melbourne is on the field..the competitors or the uncompetitors......Last week was different..it looked real bad until we worked out the 7 goal wind thing. Which side will turn up this week?

Don't forget Chunk getting in Pendles face at half time and starting a bit of biff.

It's a very young side if we go with Oliver, Wagner and Hunt. 7 games between them.  That would worry me.

Oliver plays like a 100 gamer though so it's all good.

Generous. It will reach the heights of 7 after they've played this game

Anyone else fear that Cloke will suddenly kick straight, Howe will take mark of the year and the pies find there form?

When Howe took his mark of the year against Sydney he was in a team that lost that day by around 100 points. I can live with that happening once again on Sunday.

Surely Wagner only plays if one or more of the Hamburglar, Gus or Jeffy doesn't get up.

I think with Varcoe and Sidebottom back he will still play back.

I would of liked to see Oscar Mac come in with Brayshaw,Garlett and Hunt.

Drop Frost possibly with M Jones and Vince and Vanders

BB Jetta O Mac Salem

HB Lumumba T Mac Stretch

C Tyson N Jones Brayshaw

HF Watts Dunn Kennedy

FF Garlett Hogan Kent

R Gawn Viney Oliver

INT Hunt Bugg Wagner Harmes

Dunn to go forward, Frost and Pederson to never be seen again (wishful thinking). Let Wiedman get some VFL experience before he comes in as that second or third Tall. Dunny to play that role for now. Give Oscar Mac the job on Moore and Tom on Clokey.

3 smalls Kent,Garlett and Kennedy to use their speed in the forward half with M Williams out they are lacking even one small defender. Let's take advantage of this.

Bugg will follow Trealor  around all day.

Gawn to explode with Viney and Oliver destroying the clearances

Thats just my Thursday night footy brain ticking over but hey what the hell do I know leave it to you Roosy.

They could at least try Dunn up forward. Better bet than Pedo or Dawes.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
