Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I really like how you edited your post for spelling and deliberately misspelt spelling. At least i hope it was deliberate.

He looked amazing today.

Some of the things he did in the first quarter were phenomenal, and he is FINALLY using the elite speed he was always rumoured to have but we simply never saw.

This is a new Watts.

He's looking like becoming a very good third tall and an important part of our forward line. He's not the full forward beast we'd hoped to draft, but if he can string more consistent footy level, there's a benchmark he's set himself that he knows is now the standard.

Jack has been great this year, but as ENYAW points out he has yet to play against a top team in the real competition.

His whole attitude and approach looks better though.

Only time will tell, and like every player there will be bad or even awful moments and whole games from time to time.  It is how he reacts to these moments or games that will show his true mettle and his true worth.

Tick.

And full credit to him. Watched all the goals again today on the club website, he's clearly taken his game to the next level. He's addressed the one area of his game that's been holding him back. Took a couple of great contested marks and use the ball to our teams advantage.

Looking forward to seeing him string the form together for half a dozen matches. When he does that, I'll be convinced, but I'll be enjoying it the entire time.

When I watched the replay, I noticed his involvement a lot more than I did on Saturday. His composure and ability to find his way through traffic has been something that has stood out his entire career. It's like a sixth sense and not many players have it to the same level as Jack.

Have a good last year of a contract to land a new long term one on very good coin. Then cruise for a few years. It's the Melbourne way.

Will/should this be factored into any new negotiations?

When Watts plays well against top sides then we should offer him a contract. NAB matches and a game against Kids doesn't prove anything. He owes us heaps!!!!.

GWS arent kids anymore, and they are widely tipped to make the 8

And most 'experts' tipped them to beat us

its easier to pick out things in SlowMo, isn't it Dj.

I saw Wattsy's efforts from the news clips.  He looked really good from those snippets.  I'm now excited for his future from seeing him contest & go in willingly.

His skills & his 'insight',  are there to witness.  If he keeps this up through traffic,  he could one day get a rotation as R/Rover as he gains more self-belief.

It's dead? Well thank you Biffen.

It would be very, very disappointing if Jack wasn't there when we reach the summit. He's intrinsically linked to the club's recent journey (good and bloody awful) and it would be a great story if he were to hop on that Premiership dais in a few years time.

Not really. Up until 2016 he's been largely disappointing. Not sure blood, sweat and tears is how most on here would describe Jack's carrier to date. If you were talking about Nate Jones I'd say "hell yeah!". But based on 3 NAB Cup games and one H&A game in 2016 he finally looks good. I also hope he re-signs, but too often we've seen guys put in a good last year of contract then cruise on big coin for a few years. Remember Woey, Davey and Chip?

I wasn't talking about his performance on field (which I have never viewed negatively).  I was talking about the way he has endured being at a club at its lowest ebb, the unbelievable personal media scrutiny, the fan booing.  He was the public face of the club for most of his time.  He has invested all of himself to the club and is no less a club man than others. I used 'Blood, Sweat and Tears' euphemistically to reflect all that and his loyalty.  He could have walked to Carlton on huge coin a few years ago.  He stayed.  Having invested so much of himself I can't see him walking away now.

And to put him in the category of contract year cruisers is simply unfair and not true.

Can't get my head around the idea of him going. The idea just doesn't match my view of his personality.

He'll stay. The most I can imagine is him playing his last two years elsewhere in his 30s, but I'd be stunned if he left during the peak of his career.

I think Jack still feels he owes the club, and i think he's been building the last couple of years, flashes of what he can do in 2014, had a consistent patch in 2015 but couldn't keep it up and now he looks like he's put it all together and it's finally clicked for him

Amazing how after a win and a few preseason games people jump on Jack and conveniently forget the years of poor footy he played. I couldnt GAS about this 'face of the club' or 'his heart beats red n blue' rubbish. Just play consistent, good footy for the club. I truly hope he has a cracker of a year, re-signs and plays good footy for years to come at the Dees, rather than cruise on good coin. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, his career to date has been disappointing. Matthew Lloyd is largely right, Jack has been gifted 100 games of AFL footy.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
