Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ins. Hogan, Garland

Outs. Spencer, Bail/M Jones/Riley

Will be interesting to see if West Coast play both NicNat and Sinclair.

Don't believe we will carry 2 rucks against the Eagles.

In Darwin???

Dawes might miss if we take the 2 ruck option which we probably should against WC, particularly in Darwin.

Unless we think it would be a plus to stretch their defence particularly with injuries to the tall defenders.

I think we need to be careful of going too tall though, Hogan in for a tall either Spencer or Dawes. Dawes for me.

It's a real tough one in Darwin wether you drop a small in Bail for Hogan or Spencer. You don't want to be too tall but in the taxing conditions you can't rely on Gawn and say Dawes.. I think part of Gawns performance on the w.e was due to the fact he got a proper rest with Spencer in the side. I don't know do you drop Dawes for Hogan ? Garland has also been cleared to play, who makes way for him ? Maybe Riley. Matt jones kick 2 goals and did a good job Enright as a defensive forward.

Ins : Hogan, Garland

Out: Dawes/Spencer, Bail

Surely you cant drop mJones!

Hogan in. Garland is harder.

I would rather JKH than Bail or Riley however not sure what there roles were so cant really say.

Wouldn't be many changes - have to reward the effort and show faith

Well said - I love Dawes aggression however Hogan provides more.

Would probably want two rucks against WCE - we have gone too tall before and it has badly hurt our run and spread.

Not going to be as easy in the ruck this week - both Nat and Sinclair are 2.00m tall so Gawn and Spencer will need to jump (esp against Nat).

Mids wont be getting as many taps to adv.

I'd also keep Spencer, to assure Max won't run out of steam again leaving us thrashed in the 4th Q.

Ins: Hogan, Garland (maybe)

Outs: Dawes, Bail/Riley

If we wanted to keep a similar structure it would probably be easier to bring in JKH.

In: Hogan, JKH

Out: Dawes, Bail or Riley

Gawn will need help in the ruck. Doesn't have the tank for 4qtrs in Darwin.

Think it worked well on the weekend - not sure what the %'s were for time in the ruck.

Gawn is probably the better forward but had more hitouts last week (44 vs 25).

Tough one - Gawns height would be good against nicnats jump however Spencer could be a liability forward.

Would say 50% each depending on which one of the above Roos values more.

They could just change like 2 or 3 times a quarter and try and confuse their defense.

I like the ins and outs however problem is you have left Gawn (who doesn't have a big tank) to ruck against Nicnat and probably Sinclair (both 2.00m) in the heat.

Dawes (1.93m) might be able to 2nd ruck for like 10% however we would get smashed then + wouldn't want to risk knee.

Hogan - wouldn't risk him in the ruck with back/hammy

Don't understand why they never fixture this game before the bye so both teams have two weeks to recover from the hardest venue in football.

We have to play the following Saturday.

Why is Garland a walk-up start? He's not a good lock down defender and he's not creative. I think for the first time all year, we had the right structure in the backline.

Cheezus I cannot believe this!

We won probably the most important game for many a year and people want to start getting CUTE!

Minimal changes

In: HOGAN ( IF FIT)

Out: probably BAIL or JONES ( Stiff)

The suggestion to drop DAWES is absurd!

The man adds structure to the side and provides leadership!

Toumpas, being subbed is of no consequence to me !He STAYS!

Riley, STAYS, because of GRUNT factor!

I DO LIKE A BIT OF grrrrruuuunt!

Keep changes to a Minimum

JKH and others et at to earn a game with good form at CASEY!

Kennedy, Darling and resting ruckman to me dictates we need to bring in Fitz for the resting ruckman or Garland to play on Darling.

I cant possibly see how we wont play 2 true ruckman against West Coast. We cant play that tall forward so I need no choice but for Dawes to be dropped.

I think Garlands been in pretty good form this year... He is a good match up for Hill or Lecras.. Not sure what the match ups would be

McDonald - Kennedy

Dunn - Darling

Garland - Lecras

Jetta - Cripps

Ideally I think McDonald is better match on Darling as he gets up the ground a bit but think Kennedy might be a bit too tall for Dunn and before people point out Hawkins is taller then Kennedy and Dunn did a good job on him, Kennedy is a strong overhead mark whereas Hawkins is more body work

To each his own opinion: I believe that we can't afford NOT to have two rucks, especially as Dawes can't / won't ruck.

Hogan surely, if fit, must return. Dawes could be the unlucky one.

JKH offers lots of run: Bail may well be the unlucky one (or Matt Jones or Riley.)

We have to play the following Saturday.

Ridiculous fixturing that hurts us as we play Essendope the following Saturday after returning from Darwin. Will need to manage the players well during that week but isnt it lovely so see Essendrug get help from the AFL and given an advantage against us.

Nevermind we will still smash them.

Nice dilemma for a change

Good point.

Haven't we asked the AFL every year that we have had this Darwin arrangement, to fit it in immediately before our bye?

Can't be that difficult to arrange, were there the will on their part.

Stubborn or arrogant at AFL HQ?

This will sound odd, but for me only change.

IN: Fitzpatrick

OUT: Riley

Fitz in to cover Sinclair in their forward 50. Riley to travel there with Kennedy-Harris as emergencies while Hogan and Garland can blow out some cobwebs at Casey.

FB: Fitzpatrick, Dunn, Jetta

HB: Cross, T. McDonald, Lumumba

C: Watts, N. Jones, Tyson

HF: M. Jones, Dawes, Bail

FF: Howe, Spencer, Garlett

FOLL: Gawn, Vince, Viney

INT: Brayshaw, Neal-Bullen, Toumpas

SUB: Stretch

My thought process here is that we always struggle the week after Darwin, so with holding off on bringing Hogan, Garland and Kennedy-Harris back for a week, it means we should have three fresh players to bring in the following week. Also rewards the 22 who played against Geelong with minimal changes.

As far as West Coast's dangerous forwards go:

McDonald covers Kennedy

Fitzpatrick to Sinclair

Dunn to Darling

Cross to LeCras &

Jetta on Hill.

Take it down any side of the ground towards our half forward or wing and we have a player able to mark. Hogan is pretty good on the ground with decent speed and Dawes does do a lot of the crash and bash through the packs. Spencer and Gawn rotate through FF.

I really liked Gawn and Spencer in the ruck. I hope we continue with the 2 ruckmen

That would mean someone like Dawes will be likely out if Hogan came back in. Will be interesting to see what the selectors do

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
