  1. OH MY GOD! Enough negativity.. Well AFL.COM writing team used here demon sliding doors prediction as "some believe demons paid overs for a melksham, we think that in 12 months - Melksham for 25 will look real good for the Dees." I'm para-phrasing slightly but the half back plan works for me and trade period is barely underway, just wait! There'll be 50+ deals done this period, or close to it. Trust in the men paid to and passionate about returning this club to the top end, I do. Our new star is already there, 95% of "stars" are drafted, not traded for. Vines, Hogan, Brashaw, Petracca (better than any kid in this years draft and would be most obv #1 pick in history if drafted this year), Gawn, Tyson (basically used middle of season as his pre season last year, guy is a STUD - well ahead of Treloar In ceiling), Alex NB, Frost, Mcdonald inc Oscar, White will be a gun, King may be ready to play 2nd fiddle late this year, Stretch is so underrated here it's not funny & so forth.. Hogan,Petracca, Brayshaw are stars of future starting now, Viney may go down as our toughest and most beloved player of all time, mark my words - Tyson could be Hodge like with some luck.. Gawn is best young Ruxk in game. Let's calm down peeps! Plus - Bugg will get done, Rosa or Stanton are being considered for Cross like role, Bastinac was in frame maybe not now but one of Prestia/Gaff/Parker/Rockliff will be a demon 17' perhaps - so let's not throw the bath out with baby water just yet folks! Don't be shocked if Dixon comes into play, were sniffing about I know that much. GO DEES!!! Cheers

  3. Hi guys and girls, I'm a long time reader but first time poster on this forum and just wanted to add my 2 cents on the Melksham deal. For me I think it's a win for the club, Melksham in comparison to Watts statistically speaking are almost identical since they were drafted although Watts is a year older. Jake was once a high draft pick (granted it doesn't mean everything) but it meant Essendon must have rated him highly in his draft year as we did with Watts. And both haven't lived up to their potential yet. So it begs the question would anyone on this forum happily trade out jack watts for anything less than pick 25? Personally I wouldn't and that's why I think Melksham deal was a good get. Granted I will say Watts has a higher ceiling due to his polish but with Melksham we will get someone who will give their all and not afraid to hurt the opposition (fairly) which is what a lot of you have wanted in our team in previous years. No I don't believe he will rack up 25+ touches every week and be top 5 in our B and F but I see a player who will go out and give his all and play the way the game should be played. I believe there is a negative view of Melksham not just because he hasn't quite lived up to his potential but just purely because he is a ugly bastard and he gets under your skin, maybe that's the sort of player we need in our back half to get under the skin of the opposition a bit. Just my 2 cents and no this post was not made to belittle Watts in anyway, I think Watts will be a star for the MFC.

  4. Ok, so this is what I'm hoping will be the case for it to potentially work for us if it's a 4 club multi trade and Mahoney to keep his word re: Kennedy being seperate and still allowing us to work with Gold Coast. Firstly let's say the Treloar deal is Collingwood's Pick 7 & 2016 1st Rounder to GWS for Treloar & Pick 27. Then the Aish deal is Oxley & Pick 26 to Brisbane for Aish and a late Pick. Melbourne trade out Howe, Toumpas & Pick 46 Collingwood trade out Seedsman, Pick 27 (from GWS) & Pick 47 Port Adelaide trade out Pick 29 & 50 Adelaide trade out Picks 28 & 52. Melbourne gain Picks 27, 28 & 29 Collingwood gain Howe, Pick 50 & 52 Port Adelaide gain Toumpas & Pick 47 Adelaide gain Seedsman & Pick 46 Melbourne can then: Trade Picks 27, 28 & 29 (2033 points) to GWS for Pick 8 & 41-They're likely to get from Carlton (1963) Trade Picks 6 & 8 (3302) to Gold Coast for Picks 3 & 16 (3301) Trade Pick 41 to the Filth for Kennedy Trade Grimes & Pick 64 to Richmond who trade Pick 31 to GWS for Bugg & Pick 66 to us Go to the draft with Pick 3 (Parish/Curnow/Francis), Pick 16 (Bonner), 66 (Vandenberg Promotion), 82 (Harmes promotion) Pick up a couple of De-listed free agents, two rookies and away we go. Edit: Added Richmond to Grimes trade as they were linked at the start of the week.

  5. Players choosing the club they want to be traded to.. Just another form of free agency... Afl need to change the rules, when a player who wants to leave theyb should be traded to a club which gives the best trade deal... If player wants to choose a club of choice wait unti free agency ... Can't have it both ways! ... Trelor has been in the game for 5 mins & is demanding which club how is that right???

  6. I made that video in 2009, originally it was just meant to be a highlights package of Liam Jurrah but I added in some other Melbourne moments as well and took Liam's name out of the title after he went to prison. I was overseas at the time and didn't get to see much of Melbourne so I relied on snippets of footage on YouTube and decided put them all together to music. The "Dog Days Are Over" is a reference to the song used in the video which was popular at the time and worked well with footage that was available. Thanks for your feedback, I can't wait to see your efforts

  10. Collingwood can take a flying leap if they think they can give us that deal. Once again, we demand their first round pick. If they want to spend it on someone else, it's "Sorry Jeremy, they obviously didn't want you at their club after all. Fortunately we've got another club who'd be happy to take you..."

  13. Surely Collingwood should receive fines/sanctions for encouraging a player to undergo surgery whilst still on another club's list and no certainty to end up on their own. Highly questionable conduct.

  14. I'm not or using anything, other than optimism and public knowledge! Or close to it. Josh M would quite that if asked, Prestia etc being targets and has re Parker and Dion already. We have a need i.e. a grade decision making accumulating mid, so any who isn't totally locked up 100%, we will inquire about, big DEAL! Does that mean we will get any or all? heck NO!!! I gave up sharing data years ago due to ppl such as yourself not having the intellectual capacity to understand how his crazy insane and often joke of a period works, and how many players and deals get spoken about during this 3-4 week period. 18 teams, 40 odd players - 720 players total. I'd say at least 10-12 players per club are lairs as trades me when the first round of sit downs are done, maybe 15 even depending on the club and whom they're talking too as there's a lot of political savvy involved i.e. Melbourne hate dealing with Richmond going back years, Bombers won't deal with pies etc etc. anyways my point is, most of you can't seem to understand how this works. Each club sits with each other club or via Skype, and all have a list of assets broken down into sectors i.e. Tradeable, untouchable etc as well as list of needs i.e. "Outside speed, "grunt", "Decision maker", "Def Fwd", "Line breaker" blah blah.. They also have these lists for each other club and their own assessment of that list. When they talk initially it's all about needs so froth and each club learns agenda of each other club, then.. Flood gates open and names thrown about left right and center.. Of these hundreds of names linked or spoken about with 3-4 clubs each, so that's already 400 possibilities - about 10-12% will get any further than "spit ball" phase. Even then, only 2-3% will ever come to fruition. Not to mention the 50 deals that go right to the line and still don't get done.. It's incredible! So thus, mentioning them on such a forum instead of "cool info" it's treated as bloody gospel and your held that these "deals" actually happening which the odds of, are literally slim to none so it's dead mans game if ppl wanna hold you to every little word spoken by the footy dept's.. So anyway, I digress - I truly do blv our football club is in great hands and love the vision, which INCLUDES: Prestia, Parker, Gaff targeting etc.. Sure I can mention 15 players were inquiring about right now or this morning anyways, but why??? Despite always row facing with the same caution i.e. Don't expect many if any to come to fruition, ppl still want to make themselves feel good by shooting down information that I'm passing on that I thought as a demon supporter was pretty neat and handy to know what direction the club. Looking other than the PR given to the mass media. As through my business and line of work I'm privy to some by mere opportunity rather than exclusivity! Again, even though many years I'd post something and next day it'd be in mass media, but, because it didn't eventuate, that's MY Fault & ergo l, I am a [censored] talker wasting MY OWN TIME TYPING RANDOM CRAP JUST FOR KICKS! So bugger you and all of you negative, poor self image folks who want to ruin it for all. Such a sad state our culture has become, if it's not something we come up with do from our own hand, it must be shat on, just cus! Nasty. But, GO DEES!!!

  15. Couldn't agree more on the negativity, unbearable at times. People on this board thrive on the old 'woe is me, I barrack for Melbourne' thing and its PATHETIC! People suggesting Josh Mahoney needs to grow 'some' need to grow 'some' themselves. Back you club in, I know we've done it before with awful, long resounding consequences, but what are you gonna do, stop backing them in and whine about it?

  18. From AFL website on Treloar's operation: 'The Giants are now seeking clarification from Treloar and his manager Peter Blucher, who said: "I’m not saying anything about anything until everything is done. I’m not saying a word about anything." ...Collingwood assured the Giants it had no involvement in the operation.' This is the same Blucher guy who was so 'honest' with mfc in his management of one TS several years ago. It sounds like he has a story to tell but isn't telling... ...If he is quoted correctly it seems a case of 'he who protests too much'!. Sorry to be cynical folks but I don't trust a word that guy says! I would expect the AFL to be asking a few questions and check who paid the medical bills!! Edit: Bulcher is also the guy who was suspended for a year over the Kurt Tippett fiasco.

  28. Wise I've told you the answer, if we can get it done. Howe to Pies. Seedsman and Freeman and Toumpas picks to Dees. ( 3 second rounders.) If Anderson is worth 15, then Howe is worth 2 middle second rounders at least. Kennedy thrown in to us, or for late pick. Our 3 picks from above deals to GWS for 8, plus because we have well over 200 point difference, which the AFL won't allow, they throw in Bugg and maybe Tomlinson. Maybe we add a late pick. We offer 6 and 8 to GC for 3 and Prestia. If needed, we add something like a player or pick that might come from another trade, like say Grimes somewhere. The above would be easier to do as they can be isolated deals. Toumpas single deal. Howe for 2 picks single deal. GWS picks for pick single deal. GC single deal. If we end up with 8 and can't do the Prestia deal, we go to draft with 6 and 8. Anyone got anything better and easier to achieve.

  30. Saints are continuing to be hard to deal with. Their latest Carlisle offer is a joke. Saints: 5 (1878) + 63 (112) = 1980 Dons: 23 (815) + 25 (756) = 1571 + Carlisle Values Carlisle at 419. Pick 40 (429), pick 41 (412) The new AFL system makes this transparent.

  34. You don't go into a trade looking to break even. We're after a profit here. GC have offered a really good deal for him. We need to get at least as good a deal from Collingwood. We have a golden opportunity here to get back some of the credit we lost in the Dawes and Lamumba trades where we paid Collingwood far too much for players they didn't want anyway. This time we have a player we would be happy to keep, who is an automatic selection in our first side, and people are talking about letting him go for LESS than we paid for either Dawes or Lamumba in a very weak draft year. This is the best opportunity we will see this year to get a decent return on a trade. We need to capitalise on it.

  35. People are drastically undervaluing Howe here. Have a look at the trades that have gone through so far. It's clear that nobody rates this year's draft. North Melbourne just gave up their first round pick for a 21 year old who's played 10 games. Howe is a 100 game player with multiple clubs chasing him. If the Pies want him they can give us a first round pick. It's that simple. None of this rubbish of the club bending over backwards putting together a five club trade to net a bundle of second and third round selections. In this year, with this draft, he is worth the Pies' first round pick and it isn't our problem if they want to use it for someone else. If the Pies won't put up a reasonable offer, we simply tell Howe and his manager that they aren't willing to offer what he's worth and he'll have to go with someone else.

  36. One of the great modern footy media paradoxes (along with how someone could appoint Mark Robinson as their Chief Football Writer), is that a guy who completely ruined Richmond's list is known as 'The List Manager'. This is a guy who had absolutely no idea how to build a list and picked Tambling over Roughead and Franklin. I'd rather listen to a drunk duck discuss our list than Terry Wallace. At least, I'd get something out of it.

  39. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the decision off the club on Goodwin and Melksham would have to be the worst in the last 20 years, which is really saying something. Both will be rubbed out in my view, and we are unlikely to see Melksham next season, closely followed by Goodwin. From all that we hear, Goodwin is a very worthy character, and a very astute coach, but the train is rocketing along the track now which will collide with all who were foolish enough to be associated with James Hird. WADA has made that very very clear in the last few days in Melbourne. How we could have been so stupid to get ourselves involved in this is beyond me.

  41. I know Demonlanders are going to eat this up. Anyone find it amusing, or worrying that on the AFL website, there are "Get excited by" videos for all the players moving clubs, but not one for Melksham. There is a Get excited by: Jetta Bennell Henderson Dangerfield Leuenberger Dean Gore! - he hasn't even played an afl game ....but not one for Melksham. I can't help but laugh...and by laugh, I mean curl up in a ball and cower in a corner.

  42. Cannot believe all the disharmony amongst the supporters on here. Melbourne has a clear plan and they keep reiterating it, trying to bring in players that have been developed and been in the system for a few years now. Yes it would be great to land these Big fish or A graders and I can guarantee we are trying to lure one but unfortunately we are just not quite there yet, give it another year of the draft and natural improvement amongst our list and we will be a destination club. There is no quick fix here we have tried that (moneyball) and it just doesn't work. I'm very optimistic about the clubs strategy and as hard as it is to say we just need to be patient. If we can land 2 top 10 picks that will be enormous and I believe that's along the lines of what the club is trying to achieve.

  43. Why would we want picks? It goes against what Mahoney said we were chasing. So much for getting quality players 21 + . I can't help but feel we are getting shortchanged and treated with disrespect by other clubs.

  44. I would love for players to come out and explain their reasons for choosing which clubs they choose and why BEFORE they are traded. A bit of honesty for the supporters wouldn't go astray. I'm sick of the player manager's trotting out the usual crap as to why their client should and would be traded to their club of choice. No-one except the player, manager and clubs really know. It might help supporters understand reasons why their "idols" want to up and leave.

  46. The Age is reporting: Collingwood and Melbourne were also locked in negotiations over what could become a multi-club deal for Jeremy Howe to move to Collingwood, Jimmy Toumpas to move to Port Adelaide, Paul Seedsman to Adelaide and Ben Kennedy to the Demons. A complicated exchange of second and third round draft picks is also involved in the mega deal. Jack Nial and Emma Quayle have been spot on so far so no reason to doubt them. So much for Mahoney saying last night that Kennedy and Howe would be separate deals! No matter what the exchange of later picks is, losing both Toumpas and Howe for a kid who has barely played and some picks does not fill me with any joy... ...yes I know, your advice is to wait till officially announced...sure! Footnote: the article says Treloar and Aish to Pies deals almost done. I reckon that is where Pies good picks have gone...I guess we get the dregs...yes I know wait till the deal is done etc etc etc

  47. The problem for some posters is that they either believe that A graders or instant game changers grow on trees, or clubs are willing to part with them easily. Neither is true. Outside of Danger and, to a lesser extent Treloar, none of those types are truly out there on the market. But people are sucked in to this idea that we have to land a gun in this trade period or else a sinkhole will swallow the team up and we will disappear from existence. The club is doing exactly what they should be - while they test the market they are bringing in experience and talent that will add to our list. They aren't A graders or game changers but they improve our depth and our ability to compete on a consistent basis. Everyone knows that when we did compete for 4 quarters we looked like a damn good side. If we do that more often then there is no reason why we can't add to our win tally in 2016. But no, unless the next coming of GAJ falls in our lap then we all have to be depressed. Give me a break.

  49. Great pick up Dees. Pick 25 (30 after academy picks) is cheap for a 24 yo - 115 gamer. I think people are over rating draft picks. Not even the #1 pick is a certainty. Jake will be in our top dozen players every week and will push our fringe players. M Jones, Michie, Grimes, Newton etc He also has a little mongrel about him. Extra points for decking Jackson.
