Don't trade it! With Levi Ashcroft a likely number 1, we will have a choice of one of Jagga Smith, Finn O'Sullivan, Murphy Reid, Harvey Langford, Sid Draper or Josh Smillie. All should be excellent AFL players.27 points

Avoids any Battle compo affecting our first pick also. Thank you Saints.26 points

I really like what we saw with Windsor this year, let’s use pick 5 to get another gem like him.12 points

Pick 5 ***** DO NOT TRADE THIS PICK ***** Will be pick 6 given Lions father son pick Levi Ashcroft should be pick 2 or 3. I think top 4 is clearly Finn O’Sullivan, Jagga Smith, Luke Trainor and Sid Draper. Prime choices are “live pick 5” Harvey Langford, Sam Lalor, Xavier Lindsay or Josh Smillie. (In that order for me)12 points

i don't understand why people are saying kozzy elected to bump. i don't see anything i'd call an intentional bump both players charging for the ball in the same direction but slightly different angle kozzy maybe slightly in front. a side-side collision (you see a 100 times a game) was inevitable but not what i'd call an intentional bump you know the rest with moore strangely and intentionally dropping to his knees and sliding i don't see moores dropping to his knees any different to a player dropping his head to cheat a free which is explicitly not allowed and makes any injury resulting from such, the fault of the ducker. i think there's a strong case that kozzy is being denied natural justice due to the afl's arbitrary outcomes rules 3 weeks is excessively harsh and should be appealed. Just need a decent advocate, but12 points

What going for the ball? Is that we Kozzie shouldn't do? He's cleaned up his act a LOT this year and some on here should recognise this. There was nothing malicious or reckless about what he did. A player dropped his knees and slid into him while he had eyes for the ball only. FFS. Watch it at speed. He wouldn't have have had time to shirk the contest anyway Do you lot expect him to turn into a soccer player and start taking a dive? He's now in our top 4 players and he's being suspended for 3 critical weeks because of an illegal action by the captain of the Collingwood football club. He got up took his kick and was fine and laughing after the game. Something really stinks. We've been bent over by the pies and their mates again.12 points

Both Riak and Mentha have at least had one nomination to attend the state combine draft. I actually wouldn't be surprised if that was the Dees nominating both lads. Riak Andrew would add further depth and development down back and whilst he is still pretty raw, he's got the athletic build similar to his brother. Mentha is proving his versatility playing down back as this is a big mantra of Jason Taylor and Simon Goodwin when it come to recruiting. Hes always been pigeoned hole as a small forward but seems hes having success as a running half back. im pretty sure we'll gave the rookie spot to fit both on our list come November. Though I believe Noah Yze didn't get an invite to the draft combine which to me doesn't come as a great deal of a surprise. I've seen nothing that stands out to me in terms of having AFL weapons that could step up to elite level. His form in the Coates League level has been so so. On another note, Tarion Ah-Mu just continues to excite me.. The kid is a monster and he kicked another 3 goals yesterday which takes his tally to 18 from just 8 games.12 points

If you watch it in slow motion Kossie's foot gets hit by Moore's knee which forces Kossie off balance, this then causes the collision, so in fact Mooe helped the collision to happen.11 points

I hope you are right but I can’t agree on our list management performance. It hasn’t been up to standard for some time. JT’s hit rate in the drafts has been good but his ability to identify young talent has been seriously limited by Lamb’s games swapping multiple picks to get up the order and coughing up picks for recycled NQR players that have added little to our list in ability or leadership. let’s go to the draft and get some young talent, we need midfield leg speed and foot skills.10 points

I reckon we can successfully argue that Kossie's action was not careless because 1. He was contesting the ball and it was reasonable to do so in that way - Kossie actually gets to the ball first and pedals it with his foot at the same time the contact is made, he is playing the ball. 2. The circumstances were out of Kossie's control, he could not have anticipated that Moore would slide on his knees, an action which also constitutes rough conduct. Were Moore not concussed and Pickett suffered a serious leg injury then it could actually be Moore facing suspension. Here is what the 2024 Tribunal Guidelines state: 1. Rough Conduct (High Bumps) The AFL Regulations provide that a Player will be guilty of Rough Conduct where in the bumping of an opponent (whether reasonably or unreasonably) the Player causes contact that is at least Low Impact to be made with any part of his body to an opponent’s head or neck. If not Intentional, such conduct will be deemed to be Careless, unless: » The Player was contesting the ball and it was reasonable for the Player to contest the ball in that way; or » The contact to the opponent’s head or neck was caused by circumstances outside the control of the Player which could not be reasonably foreseen. 4. Rough Conduct (Contact Below the Knees) Under the Laws of Australian Football, it is prohibited to make contact with an opponent below the knees. Players who keep their feet are vulnerable to serious injury from opponents who lunge, dive or slide toward them and make contact below the knees. » The degree of momentum and/or force involved in the contact; » Whether the Player causes contact below the knees, without limitation, by sliding with his foot, feet, knee or knees in front of him; » Whether the opposition Player was in a position that was vulnerable to contact below the knees (for example, standing over the ball or approaching from the opposite direction); and » Whether the Player making contact had any realistic alternative ways of approaching the contest or situation10 points

Not a question. GWS all the way. For Jesse, for the fact that we won’t have to hear about it one day after the grand final, and because all remaining 7 options are despicable and make me sick. I swear to god if Geelong wins another flag I am out.9 points

Yep, heard Yze had that job. Ashcroft finished with 17 touches, which would be close to his lowest possession count in the CTL this season.9 points
-
You just shouldn’t be able to be suspended when another play does an illegal act. That is sliding in and is actually outlawed, but the umpire didn’t pay it. Moore could have broken Kozzy’s leg or something like that.9 points

You mean the Pies’ supporting Tribunal Chairman. It has been reported somewhere he is a Pies’ fan. Maybe the female alternate Chairman will officiate. Anyway until one second before impact there is absolutely no possible way Moore’s head is involved. While Kozzie is looking down at the ball Moore drops to his knees. That caused the bump. Kozzie’s feet seem to be slightly taken out from under him as well. That is classic exemption of “ circumstances beyond the player’s control” and that is what you run. I would call a biomechanic expert to show when Moore dropped there was nothing Kozzie could do in a split second at the pace he was contesting.8 points

Too many on here concentrating on the outcome and not the causation, both are approaching the ball at a slightly different angle about the same distance from the ball, there was always going to be contact/bump, it was Moore recklessly deciding to slide at the last second that caused the concussion. I would be arguing along those lines8 points

Also, I can guarantee there would have been Melbourne recruiters watching the Dandenong vs Gippsland power game yesterday. Not only have both teams got Melbourne NGA kids playing in Mentha, Andrew, Ah-Mu and Prasad, but top end talent in Cooper Hynes and Harvey Langford. Langfords stocks are certainly rising so I have no doubt he's be right on our radar come pick 5/6. Honestly would be another that the club would like. Nothing are bid bodied midfield bulls who would certainly add much needed talent and depth. Though, I think Hynes would probably more likely be in the teams whereas Langford is certainly a top 10 prospect.8 points

Fantastic draft for us to have pick 5. Midfield heavy with minimal seperation at the top. Has the potential to re-energise our midfield to continue the premiership window7 points

Best ending to a game this season! We might have missed finals but it's great to see Collingwood, Essendon and (hopefully) Carlton sharing the pain. Reminds me of a few years ago when we had to beat Collingwood in the final game to make the 8 (we lost) but still had a chance if West Coast won after us (they lost).7 points

Could be as soon as next year if we get the next 5 or 6 months right. There are reasons for our decline which we have some control over. There are also reasons we have little control over. We lost by less than a kick to three highly credentialled finals teams in the last 6 or 7 weeks - Brisbane, Port and GWS. That was far from full strength/health. I completely disregard Friday's result. 6 day break off a very warm day game on the Gold Coast - a bizarre fixturing move, and missing a big number of key players. We are not far away despite all the doom and gloom. And we get a bottom 6 draw!7 points

Didn't the AFL say a few years back that to discourage head high contacts they would award frees against players for ducking. But they did not follow through - all they have done is (sometimes) not award a free against the opponent for head high contact.7 points
-
The way they were converging on the ball they were BOTH going to bump, it was Moore deciding to slide last minute that caused the concussion.7 points
-
Absolute disgrace If Moore stands up like a man there is shoulder on shoulder Kozzi punished for Moore dropping to his knees7 points
-
Should appeal. But there again, I thought it should have been Kozzie’s free for Moore taking his legs. At the very least, Kozzie could have no idea that Moore would be going to ground so far from the ball. He is not a mind reader. They probably won’t appeal.7 points
-
I'd say this is wrong - but indeed was the basis of the decision. The appeal should be that BOTH players elected to bump. But Moore SLID, KNEE first. That's an illegal action and Moore sliding caused the incident. Knees first into any contact is dangerous. Sliding specifically is illegal. That's why Moore has to be held accountable and Kossy should be cleared. Will win on appeal.7 points

I think it’s fair to say that some of those influential groups mirror what you see on Demonland. Some are ‘company guys’ who tow the line but there are plenty of people who are pushing for a review and operational change. Im tipping an interesting next few months for the entire club.6 points

Lloyd on the Sunday Footy Show just now was saying that Goodwin needs to be able to present a plan internally to the club how he and the team can evolve and challenge again next season, to sell some optimism and if he thinks he can stick with his old game plan the board should find another coach right now. Fair call I say.6 points

Yes I was there. She didn’t say anything of substance. Lots of motherhood statements and looking forward to 2025. She kept to her little group of friends most of the night as did Pert. It was an awful event really. The mood around the club is terrible.6 points

Now I'm one who doesn't winge about umpires or MRV but 3 games for that, Moore went to ground nearly the same time as he came through there is know why he expected More to drop lower what a joke, I expect the club to appeal.6 points
-
Agreed, there is no chance Kozzie will get off. The best hope is to reduce the number of weeks by arguing he wasn't careless and it was reasonable action in the circumstances. Or argue the 'severe impact' down to 'high impact' especially as Moore played on and showed no signs on the field. Of course it depends on what the Coll doctor report says ... fwiw, Houston didn't even hit the Crows player in the head. It was the shoulder but the MRO and Tribunal deemed it to be high anyway because it was 'the top of the shoulder'. Go figure! They make up the rules to suit the outcome they want. The only leniency on tackles etc this year has been to Brownlow candidates or 'famous' players.6 points

Seeing Dusty shed a tear today really got me. One of the best players to ever play the game, and yet Dusty never made it about him. Always humble, respectful and happy to do his thing. An absolute champion. The game lost a real icon today.6 points

Why was that not a free kick to Kozzie for dangerous play by Moore sliding into the contest. This has to be brought into the calculations. Ridiculous AFL, absolutely ridiculous.6 points
-
It’s about circumstances beyond your control. One second before impact Moore is standing up straight. He didn’t bend down exposing his head, he actually dropped his knees, putting his head much lower and in line for contact. Kozzie is coming at pace and in one second has to avoid a head that wasn’t there as he ran in. Kozzie is also looking down at the ball at the moment of impact and trying to kick it. The dropping by Moore is a circumstance outside Kozzie’s control and that is what he pleads at the tribunal. There is no head contact if Moore doesn’t drop. Also Moore jumped straight up and took his kick and played on. He was subbed off later at half time. How do we know conclusively what caused the concussion, which is the reason for the suspension?6 points

Laurie had only 26% TOG and ended the night 7 disposals, 5 contested, 4 clearances, 3 tackles and going disposal efficiency of 71% in the pouring rain. He's not the problem most think he is, particularly as a depth player. He also scored top 5 for speed in attack showing he's got good repeat efforts. If he spent more than 5 minutes in the team I suspect his defensive running patterns and positioning would improve. I'll drop it for now as most don't want to hear it and seem to have made up their mind about him after last year. He's earned his spot on the list as a depth player.6 points
