Hunter (and Langdon) both failed to finish in the top 10 of the B&F despite playing every game bar the one missed by Hunter. In an award that favours those that play games and for blokes that are in crucial positions it's an interesting commentary by the coaches. Whatever Lachie was not doing he'd better improve because there is a lot of competition for spots from those that might not necessarily be seen a wingers - Billings, Chandler, Howes, Woewodin, Laurie, Spargo and perhaps even the Kolt and Duke. Langdon is under pressure too. It's an interesting watch.4 points

Loved the interview. He sounds like a top bloke with his head screwed on the right way ( as my late mum would say).4 points

That grand final goal! Never forget it. Huge kick off one step with three opponents streaming at him from all directions. What composure and what a powerful kick. The adrenaline was really flowing here. Love his toughness too.4 points

Q: How many Demonlanders does it take to change a light bulb ? 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed. 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently. 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs. 6 to argue over whether it’s ‘lightbulb’ or ‘light bulb’. Another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid. 22 to tell THOSE 6 to stop being jerks. 5 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is ‘lamp.’ 15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that ‘light bulb’ is perfectly correct. 49 to post memes and gifs (several are of Michael Jackson eating popcorn with the words added, “I’m just here for the comments.”) 19 to post that this page is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb page. 11 to defend the posting to this page saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant here. 24 to discuss the merits of LED/swirly fluorescent light bulbs 44 to claim LED and fluorescent bulbs will kill you. 12 to post F. 8 to ask what F means. 7 to post ‘Following’ but there’s 3 dots at the top right that means you don’t have to. 15 to say “can’t share” 2 to reply “can’t share just copy paste” 36 People to post pics of their own light bulbs. 15 People to post “I can’t see S$%^!” and use their own light bulbs. 6 to report the post or PM an admin because someone said “f÷×$” 4 to say “Didn’t we go through this already a short time ago?”. 13 to say “Do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs.” 3 Admins to ban the light bulb posters who took it all too seriously. 1 late arrival to comment on the original post 6 months later and start it all over again. 20 to give up on fb and take their dogs for a walk. Then somebody says they’re leaving group, and someone says this isn’t an airport, no need to announce your departure.3 points

19 to say the lightbulb is cooked and shouldn't be turned on next week 14 to say they trust JT to determine if the lightbulb has the correct amount of lumens to perform long term 1 to say that absolutely no reference will be tolerated to former sparkies that uninstalled AND unplugged previous lightbulbs 3 to say that the lighbulbs are so dim at Entrecote that it's impossible to determine whom did what to who 976 to say the lights came on at 16:19, 25 September 2021.2 points

Sparrow’s been hanging around the 16 possession mark a game over the last 2 years. Would like to see that increase to 20 next year, particularly given there may be an opening for more midfield minutes next year. I would also like him to play more games like the St Kilda game at Marvel this year. 22 and 2 goals. If he can start doing that on a semi regular basis, he’s really going to elevate himself to a seriously good AFL player.2 points

Love the guy - tough, strong and a booming kick (bang, bang, bang) Can only get even better with time and maturity. Go Tom.2 points

I like Hunter. I thought he was harshly judged this year. His endurance is elite and his kicking is nowhere near as bad as some people on here make it out to be. I'm still an Ed Langdon fan but Hunter was the better wingman this season.2 points

Nathan Brown on the Christmas DeeBrief podcast interview was excited by the talent and athleticism of Kalani White. Nathan is a very positive human being. If Kynan Brown has that watch out he will be good because he already has the talent. Nathan said only around 7 players under 184cm were drafted. Shows how tough it is for players like Kynan at around 181/2 cm. I could go on but have a listen. Great interview. Positive +++++++2 points

Isn’t it great after jealously watching Cats, Pies, Hawks, Tiges, Blues father sons shining on the field it looks like it is going to be finally our turn to reap the benefits of our former stars. We now have Woey, Brownie and Rigoni and Kalani looks to be an absolute Jet in 2025 plus Aaron Davies lad Marley is moving to Melbourne to finish his education And Jeff has two more boys coming through. Can you really believe it, not that you can count on all making the cut but still very exciting for MFC supporters.2 points

There was another instance a few weeks ago the player forgot to report or similar. Gotta be an easier way to do this.1 point

#68 was interviewed after the match and he was a bit coy about the whole thing stating that he did what the coaches asked him to do He may be guilty with not being forthright & specific enough to the referee and also, there was a 3rd player involved sticking his bib in which could have created even more confusion I reckon when #70 came charging in stating that he wanted to become eligible that meant that #68's request might have been voided (at least in the Ref's eyes)1 point
-
Yeah it’s a system they need to look at. As for if 70 reported eligible he may have, but it’s a matter of seeing the footage and who does the eligible motion and if there is audio of who the refs declared eligible. Im sure if it’s #70 then the cowboys and NFL will make it available.1 point

cowboys by a point. bizarre end to the game with the Lions having 3 attempts at the 2-point conversion. Very aggressive approach from them all game on 4th downs, giving up 3 point attempts etc. presumably because they have the division sown up and unlikely to move up in seedings so nothing to lose. I think they were better off practicing play-off scenarios. take the 3 points. kick the extra point and take into overtime (its what you would do in a play-off game). I guess you can't fault the approach given they've won their division for the first time in yonks being aggressive. The only chance the cowboys have of a deep run is playing at AT&T stadium so hoping the Eagles flop from here. No run game makes it hard and apart from CD Lamb, who had a huge game, there was not that much happening offensively. Defence came up with a couple of important picks which was the difference in a tight game.1 point

Really think people over exaggerate where a first year player should be at. The season was quite long. My gripe is that Casey is not the best development ground ATM. TMac, Schace list clogger and Brown, down there probably has been a negative in that regards.1 point

stinga - do you seriously rate him over JVR? Hope you are right but that is a huge call.1 point

Yes, that a man would like the dainty, constantly falling apart and disintegrating "flake ". Next you will probably tell me you prefer Maltesers over Clinkers.1 point

At least one questioning the whole premise, another one asking what the hell is that about, a face slapper, and the obligatory you are the only one, must be a new comer. If we don't change the way we produce electricity, the bulb problem doesn't matter. I think the real question is, how many Demon Landers does it take to change energy production? Otherwise, turning them on will lead to getting turned off, and the associated trauma. It takes a Village, with people from every side of the spectrum.1 point

Thought he had a good first half of the year but faded in the second half.1 point

12 Harry Hindsights saying they picked this would happen. They knew all along that the light bulb needed changing even if it looked like it was on.1 point

3 to shout down anyone who calls the light bulb names 1 to have a glass of shiraz in left hand whilst changing the bulb with the other hand 5 to call the light bulb fat 8 to yell at the light bulb "don't read the thread if you don't like it!" 28 to claim that the light bulb 'isn't the right guy', and that the world really is flat 19 to call the light bulb woke, antifa, lefty, socialist or greeny because the bulb is LED 6 that want Jesse Hogan to return and change the bulb1 point

This man will decide our flag fortunes next year. 25 great games from him and Max and we've got a tremendous chance.1 point

Went to games in the late 60's but have no memory of the encounters. The old man was Fitzroy so have vague memories of Fitzroy games at Brunswick St as a little tacker But the game that stands out was against the Hawks in '72. The same game that Hudson did his knee. Another memory of that game was watching the reserves with Philip Rhoden and his booming drop kicks from the kick-outs ... at least 70 metres time and time again. He could kick a footy that bloke One of my lifelong best mates was also at the same Hawthorn game but we didn't know each other then. Both of us were standing behind the goals at the Glenferrie Rd end In another game that same year I was delayed getting to Arden St for the North encounter ... got there at quarter time and the score was Melbourne 11.7 North 0.2. Didn't get to see it and it still haunts me!1 point

Was YouTubing some late 1980’s MFC games and came across a 1988 game against Collingwood at Waverley. We won by about 10 points but Wilson was the absolute difference in the game with 30 touches and 5 goals. Genuine super star performance.1 point

Cricket is done but we've got a good match-up tomorrow (Lions @ Dallas Saturday Night Football) But at this time of the year teams can start resting a few starters if their playoff spot is entrenched ... Dallas is the 5 seed and can't move from that spot unless the Eagles somehow slip up Detroit can finish no worse than the 3 seed but can't finish any higher unless the Eagles or the 49ers falter in their last 2 games (which is unlikely) Still, Prescott vs Goff will be worth watching Game kicks off at 12.15pm1 point

HP is a great quandary to have, he has shown that he is an excellent backman and now also has the makings of a VG forward. We are all hoping that Harrison can get out on the park more Consistently in ‘24 and help hold the forward line together for us. Good luck HP.1 point

Spot on. Unfortunately it seems that "mongrel" or even desperation on the field cannot be taught. You either have it or you dont. If he could even learn to play with the desperation of ANB or McVee he would be fine. However he's one of those players that lopes around half arsed & will never do the desperate 1 percenters.1 point

You shouldn't be. He was a young kid playing his first year of senior footy, in a crowded key forward line, where he was often played up the ground, out of position. He took some beautiful contested marks against senior players and is a lovely kick for goal, which will be an asset in our inaccurate forward line. Give him another year of senior footy and another pre season and with BBB, Tom Mac and probably Schache gone he will get his chance.1 point

Yes I was looking forward, what an oversight Jack has been carrying the load for the past 12 years and is our second most famous father son, now he gets the opportunity to share the mantle with a range of sons and daughter.1 point

I don’t think many first year players are flying at the end of their first season. Let’s hope he has a huge pre season and sees the year out better in 24. You’d hope he’d be in selection talks by 2nd half of season.1 point

Just imagine the exceptional insights and development cues - even supervision of physical and mental acuities - that Jeff has been/will be imparting to Kalari!!! Such 'Demon Parenthood' is soon to more fully erupt; I just hope at my age that I live long enough to see the best of it! Carna Far Ken Demons!1 point

Not sure I agree completely. I'm expecting him to be in the mix post bye 2024 His 2023 season showed real glimpses. Far more than I can recall from Weid at a similar time of his development. With TMac down back and Brown as the main decoy forward he should get a good try out at Casey1 point
