If 5 years ago someone told you we’d be a top 4 side three seasons in a row, with a flag under our belt, you’d tell them to go lie down.20 points

hawthorn; can they just be ordinary for a bit longer? the 18 months of them being garbage were great Should’ve been 18 years!20 points

Tomlinson allows Lever to take the 3rd tall intercepting and Lever is incredible every time he is allowed to play that role. The results speak for themselves. May Lever Tommo - undefeated in 18 games?? There is no way you can drop Tommo.19 points

That was a good day at the footy. Hawks had a real crack, but our class won out after half time. G was in good form and once again we got a good crowd in. Since Fritta went down we’ve gone 6-1, with the one loss by 4 points. I think if we were promised that after his injury we’d take it.18 points

Good to see Tmac standing on the boundary with the President, turning up for the team.18 points

Grundy is a Melbourne player deserving of our support. On what do you base this? Last I checked his attitude has been stirling throughout. Typical Collingwood player??? pot the nuphy supporters all you like but there are several Collingwood players who have shown class across the journey not all JDG's.17 points

Still haven’t lost a game since the beginning of time with May, Lever and Tomlinson all playing. Why oh why do we keep insisting on being so hard on him? He is clearly good down there and makes it easier for Lever to play the intercept role. Just leave him in there ffs17 points

Lever and Melksham were fantastic today. Melksham showed how influential he can be with tagging an opposition player and still hitting the scoreboard15 points

Melksham has really stepped up to the plate since Fritschy when down. He's having a real renaissance.15 points

We started poorly, struggling to stop their quick ball movement, but as the game went on we defended the ground better, they tired, and we picked up our ball movement. I think what pleased me the most was that we beat an in form and dangerous opponent despite Oliver, Trac and Pickett being quiet, and Gawn not dominating. In their stead, we saw Rivers, Sparrow and ANB step up and play strong football. We saw Melksham shrug off his early inaccuracy to kick 3 whilst JVR and Smith chimed in too. Critically important to our September is ensuring we bat deep. Tomlinson struggled one-on-one today and that's his bread and butter. Without it, he's not great. However, structurally we need that spot filled by someone, and I don't want us to flip Smith back there. We are only hurting ourselves and Smith's development by moving him all around. Let him settle with JVR and Melksham. I think we give Tomlinson another game at least. Without Lewis they didn't have an amazing forward line but with Tomlinson able to take a deep forward, Lever was free to play at his best, and his best makes us so much better. Like others, I hope that being locked into top 4 allows us to hit next week with some freedom. Approach it like a dress rehearsal for finals. Get another week into Oliver, hopefully get Fritsch back into the side, hopefully see Tomlinson improve, get another week of gelling into the JVR-Smith combo. And finally, this isn't just our third straight top 4 finish, which of its own is remarkable. We will end this H&A season having finished every single week, bar one, in the top 4 from Round 1, 2021 to Round 24, 2023. That's 69 out of 70 completed rounds where we've been ranked one of the four best sides. That is a level of consistency that should be the envy of most other clubs.14 points

Has anyone else noticed how much love Kossie has for Trac? I feel like Kossie sees himself as Trac's bodyguard or something, but if anyone niggles Trac, regardless of how minor, Kossie comes running in like you slapped his mum or something. To me it speaks to Trac's leadership and the relationship he built with a very shy kid(with oodles of talent and more than a tad lethal). Also can't help but wonder if that is part of the reason why he is still a Dee. Anyway don't worry about Kossie, some big games coming.14 points

In 2021 we were a flashy 3yo on the way to a Melbourne Cup. We are now a very reliable dour stayer and we should be happy with the way we’re attacking this finals series. I was in awe of Jake Lever today, how he can still talk after a game is beyond me. His leadership is unbelievable and one of the best readers of play I have ever seen.13 points

I don’t know if this has happened to anybody else, but I accidentally let Kayo continue playing after the match. After a while, a program came on called “The Bounce”. It seemed to centre around AFL and was a bit hard to follow, but eventually it occurred to me that Fox have given a few older people with acquired brain injuries the opportunity to host their own show about AFL. Kudos to Rupert and all at Fox for embracing inclusion!12 points

Top 4 finish 3 years in a row. Well played Dees. So many close games in the 2nd half of the season and weve mon most after an arm wrestle. Good hit out for finals.12 points

He plays the most difficult role in the game in terms of consistency. It’s just not possible for small forwards to have great games every week. Kosi is one of the most consistent in this role, on track for another 40 odd goals. Cyril only managed to do that twice in his entire career. Just for some perspective.11 points

Thought Laurie showed some nice moves. He looked as though he knew it was his last chance to impress and did OK Rivers was outstanding. Coaching moves were really good and i though we played a smart game and never panicked. Kudos to Goodwin11 points

McVee closed Breust down after his 1st quarter dominance. We played through their pressure. Love our backs (zoning and communication), if not May, then Lever in the air, the smalls try harder (especially if an error) and run straight at ground balls. Rivers is so important to breaking the lines. Melksham wants a shot at a premiership. Viney has been having a great year. We are playing the "G" well, and are ready for spring footy. Ran them off their legs, and forced turnovers. We get to walk into the finals in good shape, and with minimal have to win pressure (can afford to bring in an underdone Fritta). Sydney could be best preparation for us, offering a challenge, before we go into the bye.11 points

Need to lock away Rivers for 10 years. The last quarter reminded me of the last quarter kings bday where we finally strangled them and kept it in our half. That’s dees footy. Kudos to Mitchell. He has that team flying.11 points

Better than ok I thought. I was looking for reasons to drop him, but thought he showed confidence, some nice evasive skills with ball in hand and good foot skills. I’d like another look at him.11 points

We lifted our rating after half-time like a good rowing crew. Reckon this is part of the plan to have everyone still pretty fresh until the last game of our season.11 points

Satisfying win. Hawthorn have improved heaps on their early season form, and that was a legitimate arm wrestle for three quarters.11 points

FYI Fritsch is doing drills at Goschs paddock as we speak. In some agility drills he looks to be moving with no issues at all.11 points

Do I wish we had the taxpayer funded home ground with the best home ground advantage in the comp and the pick of any player born west of Melbourne at free agency and trade time? Yeah would be nice. Stuff them, hope they spend a decade in the wilderness11 points

Solid, professional win. First half was a tough watch but we countered Hawthorn's attacking game style really well in the second half. Lever was BOG by a country mile imo. You just knew he was going to take a mark every time the ball was in his direction. I also loved Melksham's game. Would've kicked 5-6 goals on any other day. We've got the double chance locked in. That's all that matters.10 points

Toby Greene 29yo height 5’11” 210 career games 319 career goals @1.52pg Charlie Cameron 29yo 5’10” 197 career games 348 career goals @1.78pg Kysaiah Pickett 22yo height 5’7” 81 career games 121 career goals @1.49pg almost as if you’re not comparing apples with apples. Koz plays a different role to those 2, is in a different weight division and his goals pg still stack up pretty well despite everyone wanting him dropped (lol) or traded (loooooool) every second week.9 points

I didn’t love Tomo’s game - gave his opponent too much space - but I did love Lever’s. Tomo’s presence facilitated Lever’s performance. I’d stick with him.9 points

I’ve been thinking that we need to make a good start to the game after three consecutive games of slow starts but recent history over a number of matches is telling us differently. And I don’t understand the negativity of some people given that of all the teams in the competition, we have the highest percentage at this late stage of the season. So, I’m confident that we’ll be in front at the end of the day9 points

If he’s fit, Fritsch for Laurie. Tough for Bill but IMO he’s the least undeserving. We need to stick with Smith forward and Tomlinson back. Can’t keep flipping Smith between the two. He needs to be given a chance to make that forward spot his own. Kicked 2 today, which was a good return.8 points

And like Clarry Fritta will need a run before finals so if he doesn’t play round 24 I reckon he plays for Casey in the bye week. He has to get a game in before finals.8 points
