  3. i think the football commentariat have joined the ranks of real estate agents, used car salesmen and reality show producers. when i was young i seem to remember that the footy press was much more humble, more positive of the game and the players. now they are arrogant self-promoting rabble rousers looking to highlight negatives and criticise clubs, players and coaches whilst over-accommodating their masters at afl house. part of the problem is that there is just way too many of them fighting over the same scraps like seagulls.

  6. In the 2021 GF Salem, May and Viney legally dropped Weightman, Hannan and McCrae in the first few minutes with ferocious tackles. The Bulldogs weren't ready. None of them had any impact. They are our 3 hard nuts and looking for them to do the same to the Pies early, especially May to Cox. Their players will remonstrate but hey lets ruffle a few black and white feathers!

  7. I can’t stand the majority of football media these days, they reek of morbidity. I remember a a young tacker most of the footy commentary was either precise , factual and analytical ,( actually talking about the game), it was more fun and positive too. These days it’s who can we pot, and how many people can we make feel bad in one show? As far using the statistical information, they spin it to suit their own opinions in a negative way.

I'll post the interview here some time on Thursday so look out for it here or wherever you get your podcasts.

  10. Being married to a Collingwood supporter I am not particularly looking forward to Monday. Should it end up being a Dees/ Pies GF I think my marriage might be doomed. My husband is a much nicer person than I am. I sulk for days after we lose but he just shrugs it off. He also goes to most of the Dees games with me so he really is one of the good guys. It will however be a long walk home for him on Monday should we lose considering we live two hours away from town.

  13. A joke I was told about 30 years ago: What's the difference between a dead pig in the middle of the road and a dead Collingwood supporter in the middle of the road? The skid marks in front of the pig.

  15. Giants are reportedly making a play for Pick 1. They are the best placed with their own and Richmond's first round picks, currently # 4 and #6. Throw in Cogniglio, a WA recruit which would also help GWS's sal cap. With Freo rising, the Academy and FA players pushing first round picks down the order none of our 2 1sts plus F1 picks are likely to be in the top 10 I would like us to get Zane Duursma!!

  16. Let's not hold back!! LOL - Those are much stronger words than any I have read on an opp bf!! Thanks for the laughs!🤣 I wish their fans had a 'what they are saying ...' thread. Would love them to read this!! I know some ok Pie's fans...

  17. This thread has certainly reaffirmed my sheer, utter, unadulterated, visceral hatred for that putrid club and that subhuman primordial soup of a species they call “Collingwood supporters”. I know that at times we don’t all get along with each other in Demonland, but at least this is something we all agree with!! Ah, I feel purged.

  23. Spot on. It has to be seen in the same way as footy is a marketable product in the field of sports entertainment. Simply a business and the footy media have become entertainers. Professional standards, integrity, truthfulness, and considered debate and conversation are old fashioned terms that are not relevant anymore. Although this can be said of society generally. There is a community of people that lap up reality TV and the dross of footy media and a community of people that don’t. Like many I have switched off and have no intention of switching on. I still love the game but not the nonsense that goes with it.

  24. that we're keen on reid, as is every club in the competition, but most times pick #1 doesn't end up being the premium pick out of a draft it speculates that we could trade pick 16 (1067 points) and pick 27 (703 points) for a total of 1770 points to gc17 in exchange for pick 8 (1551) that would see us have - based upon current ladder positions - pick 8, pick 9 from freo, and our future first, plus our own second rounder (pick 35) to offer to move up to pick 1 alternatively we could just go to the draft and spread the talent honestly, it's as speculative an article as many of the postulations you'll see here - no quotes, no insight, no detail edit: i mean, they call blake howes an "athletic goal kicker" - the kid has literally been groomed to be a mid-sized rebounding defender ffs

  25. I literally can't take it. In the space of 12 months I've gone from watching First Crack, On The Couch, 360 2 or 3 nights a week and the Monday FC to almost none of that. I almost see these shows now in a WWE wrestling kind of way with manufactured viewpoints and scripted 'feuds'. I wouldn't even be surprised if some of the disagreements on these shows are scripted because people like arguments and they get clicks.

  26. The only posts on bf that even hinted at a loss but I didn't include in the first post: Lot of over confidence in here! I'm confident too but I'm worried this place has forgotten how to deal with a loss 😭 This place couldn't deal with a loss even when we were losing a bit more regularly. How sweet a dee's win would be; their meltdown would be a joy to behold!! I would take great pleasure in updating this thread after the game!!

  27. To be fair they’ve won 3 flags in 70 years, 58, 90, 2010. We however have won 7 in that same period of time. I think I prefer our record in that regard :)

  29. Since Twitter changed it's algorithms for timelines, I've had the unfortunate experience of seeing more and more tweets from Collingwood supporters this season. They are, without doubt, the most arrogant and ignorant bunch of supporters out there. Not only do they think they've already won the flag, they love to brag about being the biggest club, the only club where supporters turn up week-in-week-out, and the most successful club in the AFL (despite only winning 2 flags in 70 years!). If there's one game I'd just absolutely love to win this H&A season, it's this one.

  36. I once new a Collingwood supporter who told me he refused to go to games against Richmond because their supporters were feral. I laughed and laughed. This guys had the perfect description for the Collingwood Football Club. A cancerous polyp on the anus of humanity.

  37. 2013/14/15/16 we were so bad we wouldn't have beaten this years West Coast. Since then we have gone 4 wins one loss " Port in 2018 by 10 points in SA" 2020 they was no real bye, we had one game postponed to later in the season. These type of record are often messed up by how bad or well team are traveling at the time. The one that stands out is how bad Geelong play post bye for a team that plays finals most years.

  38. Interesting one. I'll step up in defence of Bowey for a moment, though - the situation when he gets the ball is almost invariably one where we are being pressed, not when we are one the move ourselves. How many times as the moment Bowey gets the ball been the moment we can finally exhale as a surge of pressure is relieved because he has calmly done the sensible thing and spotted an open teammate who can take a mark and give us a few seconds to move without being grappled. His disposals are the living breathing opposite of the hospital handpass. Jake 'Eat your vegetables' Bowey. Or maybe 'apple a day'. Yeah, I'm going to call him 'Apple' from now on.

  40. Yes, I too think drinking is ingrained in footy culture. I like to have a few beers at the footy. I usually get one before the start and another at half time. I don't see the point in going to live footy if you are constantly going to the bars for another beverage, althought the ubiquitous tv screens help keeping track of the game easier these days. I often watch the game in the standing areas (whether Marvel or MCG) with a beer in hand, reminds me of my soccer spectating roots. Ocassionally I do like to sit higher up in stands, as you get a better insight into the tactics and structures the teams employ. Just on the C'Wood supporters, occasionally there are normal ones, many are just loud, annoying and excessively one-eyed (but ultimately harmless). However, there is a minority of total morons, had the misfortune of being near some at the recent Carlton v. Collingwood and some imbeciles created a scene, police and security were invoved. Just no need for that kind of nonsense.

  41. Not related to mfc target. Geelong is doing it again: cats-pitch-to-targets-tom-de-koning-darcy-parish "The Herald Sun reports the Cats will continue to make their ‘sell the dream’ pitch of the Geelong lifestyle to prospective free agents and trade targets like Tom De Koning and Darcy Parish and hone in on former Geelong Falcons in a bid to land marquee talent. It’s included Geelong securing targets on cheaper deals by selling the culture and on and off-field advantages." Those off-field advantages can't all be 'lifestyle' and they are smart enough to not have any money trail for them. The AFL should benchmark their player packages against equivalent AFL players and ask Geelong to explain the differences. And interview the players as to why they accept unders. There must now be at least a dozen Cat's on the 'lifestyle' gravy train. But we know the AFL will do nothing.

  42. One bf poster acknowledged this: Not to mention they have beaten us in 6 GF's out of 7 we have played!😡 It was in response to this comment: Up there in my top three most despised clubs predominately due to their supporters! Hopefully, we make that 7 from 8 GF wins, this year They will have two lots of Demons to overcome: physical: our beloved team and mental: their history of GF 'colliwobbles'!!

  45. Please start with 'thank you', what they have built defensively in the last few years has been extraordinary. Question 1: God forbid, But if May unavailable and he had his pick of KPD from any team, who would he choose. Question 2: Who from the current players would make a good coach and has a desire to do it. Question 3: just by the by, the soft cap is a joke when AFL management salaries go up but the line coaches etc don't share. Why is the AFLCA not making more noise?
