All sounds pretty good, really still dont understand why we belong to the greatest stadium in the world, yet we cant occupy it as our club. Im sure theres reasons, but all just bureaucratic. Seems it would be a hell of a lot easier than building ovals into hills or construction over railway lines? Occupy the G.9 points

The druggies have supposed fantastic facilities out at Tullamarine with 2 MCG & Docklands Ovals. Look how good that has turned out for them. The Tiggies on the other hand are squeezed into a small pocket on Punt Rd, look at the damage they are currently doing. Give me one quality MCG sized surface, that is all that is needed.6 points

The "meat" of the strategic plan will not be publicly released. It would be folly to divulge our IP in this regard. The naysayers are already out in force, mainly due to so many long years in the wilderness. We must trust in the vision and hope that the players truly are buying in. Again, I understand the doom and gloom on the injury list, but I am hoping that Burgess et al are taking a cautious health management approach and most injuries are not long term. My greatest wish for 2020 and beyond is that I can soon sit back with satisfy and smug smile, as we begin to deliver and shove it up those that love to sink the boots into the Dees.5 points

Made me think they only wanted those members to come who were capable of long term planning...5 points

I don’t get why you’d need a “massive” 20 Ac facility to train a single men and women’s footy team..? Tech, good equipment, best fitness and coaching staff, enough space for the team to have unimpeded access to gear, etc... but there’s only 44 odd men in training with minimal overlap with the women’s team (which at a pinch could continue to train at Casey). I think a hi-tech compact facility in center of town is far more attractive (to players we’re courting) and effective than 20 acre in the middle of nowhere. The fact we train along side soccer and rugby teams adds to the energy and potential for innovation... Bigger and more, is more about the egos at play than the proven benefits of such largess on the performance of the team...4 points

The Demon Spirit was created by Checker in the 30s and led to our most dominant period (10 flags in 25 years) We abandoned that when Smith was sacked and went back to the amateur/silvertail/MCC mindset.4 points

Dr Georgie Bruinvels: “The menstrual cycle is an inflammatory process and excess inflammation can result in an injury. It’s not solely down to high levels of oestrogen, but tracking the cycle is also very important in terms of bone-injury risk.” Is it that hard to read an article before commenting? (Exceptions granted for those who prefer to avoid the Murdoch press).4 points

Yep - it basically talks about how we've earmarked some land next to Richmond station as our potential new home, however it might be hard to do as it isn't that big. It adds that we are determined to find an inner city location, even if it doesn't end up being the one mentioned above. It mentions that there are two other car park areas that we have looked at as well. It doesn't mention other potential spots, although we could apparently build a 'sparkling new facility' at Casey but we aren't keen on that at all. Getting something 'inner city' is what we are strongly pushing for. I hope that made sense!3 points

So Jade Gresham's (0 All Australians and 0 B&F's) a better player than All Australian and 2 time best and fairest winner Clayton Oliver. Seems logical.3 points

Mate, for crying out loud, put up or shut up. These allegations your making towards the club have so far been completely unsubstantiated so until you provide any shred of evidence of what’s going on internally then why should anyone believe you? I mean it’s not like you have information that will lead to the arrest of Hillary Clinton or anything...3 points

I thought Pert was open and forthright. He knows that he and the Board will be held accountable for what is (and isn't) delivered. He also acknowledged the significant challenges ahead. I was left with the impression that our Club will leave 'no stone un-turned to climb the top of the mountain', and I'm heartened by what he had to say. And yes, I know actions speak louder than words ........ and so does Pert, and he said so.3 points

I'm guessing this plan is the member facing version. I'm sure the club has a far more detailed document that outlines the strategy and KPIs. I'm personally happy to club has made it public, even if it isn't the whole plan. At least they can now be held accountable.3 points

Best part of the night was Adam Tomlinson who when presented to the audience.... remarked that for his previous club the numbers in the room at the Melbourne AGM probably represented the total supporter base at GWS.3 points

Yes. Or at the least certainly not encouraged. I mean they post a notice on the MFC site 6 December and that's it? You have to be kidding. What sort of message does that send? If asked why they will no doubt talk about the members forum. But i didn't go t that as i wanted to go to the AGM and ask the board via the chairperson and CEO a question related to off filed performance not on filed stuff which i knew would be the focus of the members forum. Sure i could have checked when it was but i had fully expected it would be promoted (and then flagged on here). It has in previous years. I am not happy and will write to the club to express my frustration.3 points

It's nut up or shut up time now. I wouldn't expect another failed year to save the board and CEO regardless of this plan. It does make me a little warm and gooey though. Hope it comes to fruition. Go Dee's.3 points

Well they've planted their flag regarding the new facilities, stating they will begin construction by 2023 and it will be in the MCG precinct. I like the ambitions overall, some will see them as unachievable I see them as aspirational.3 points

Gosch’s only requires a slight reconfiguration to fit an MCG sized oval, the current multi sport rectangular field areas and plenty of room to replace and even increase the number of trees. We can build predominantly on the existing car park and utilities area. Then move the oval in front of the building similar to Collingwood. The existing oval can be converted to 2.5 rectangular fields for the storm, victory Etc2 points

you don't want us to play practice matches before round 1?? they are important to get some match fitness and getting rid of some rust2 points

They're simply practice matches with a naming right and are televised on Foxtel. Certainly no trophy involved.2 points

What I took out of it, 5.35 Admin, home base, and social club and we are very close to that. 6.33 second phase of that, progressing really well, within walking distance of the MCG 10.19 Bennell half a dozen games 10.28 May 1st game or shortly after Will I live another 4 years with this stress. Pert would make a great Politician !! Still think 2020 will be great Go Dees2 points

You can question the club all you like but the plan as I see it is simple - Club - win games Supporters - buy a membership and turn up2 points

Do people really think the club has just done some dot points and have no plan to go with it? I mean, take this for example: You don't think for a second that the club has far more information, direction etc behind closed doors, and that they are just outlining to members and supporters what we want to achieve in the next four years?2 points

Seems more like a wish list than a strategic plan. High on rhetoric and low on detail and substance.2 points

Don't all members get a proxy form about the AGM with information on when it is on, if you really wanted to go you would have looked at the form and AGM notification, and put in your calendar I suspect you really didn't want to go, but saw it as a opportunity the pot the club. vice-president. Depends on how this game is being viewed, if it's only an exhibition game that is a bit of fun then sure put in a more even spread of players from teams, but if it's meant to be a showcase of the skill and talent from the best players (which is what SOO is all about aside from rivalry) then yeah it's what they are doing by getting more of the best in there. Not gonna lie, if a few GWS and WC players pick up some cheeky little injuries going into the main season from this I might just have a little rye grin.2 points

I would have liked a fith goal - show MFC fans respect by communicating properly (eg about injuries and important events like AGMs)2 points

I see a lot of aims but I can't see a lot of strategic planning? What are the actual strategies that are going to give us an edge? Richmond were recruiting for speed for a long time and finally got it together in 2017. Their playing group were also incredibly inclusive, something that spread through the whole club. That's an on field and off field example on how they've built themselves. Without any details it's more strategic aims than strategic plans2 points

So for curiousity's sake I had a look back at our JLT series in 2018, I couldn't recall how we went. For those that can't remember we thumped North by 53 points and then had a 26 point win over the Saints (3 quarters of good footy but let them back in the game in the 3rd quarter by taking the foot off/throwing players around). A few things stood out from what I read, first off our team for the first JLT was not too far off our best 22. Sadly that won't be the case this coming weekend. TMac and Hogan played together and played well. The following week we were again not too far off a best 22 with noticable outs being Viney, Lewis, and ANB. I guess my point being that the same team that played the week before were able to gain a little cohesion from playing together again. Overall we also had two good wins to start off our year, which I feel set us up with confidence for a good year. Now I'm not saying that winning these upcoming pre-season matches are the be all end all, but I really think that getting any kind of win on the board early will help restore some of the confience we lost last year. it's also important getting match fitness into key players. So it looks like this week we might be a bit light on the troops vs Adelaide; May, Gawn, and TMac being particularly big outs (in both being large KPP and important to the team). Also Brayshaw, though I'm less worried about him because he's still able to maintain his fitness. I think we have to get a minimum of one win from our "official" practice matches for the boys to go into the year with something positive to build on and I really hope those I named just above are able to get in at least one of the official games before the start of the season.2 points

I like the high expectations they have. It would be easy to aim low, and some supporters might see some as unachievable, but we've got to aim high. They are targets I think we can manage.2 points

What? I had no idea it was on tonight. I was thinking just today it must be soon. Where was the communication? No email. Nothing that I saw on the MFC site. I had planned to go. Ironically was going to ask about their poor communication and what strategies they had to improve it.2 points

Doesn't it bother you that Goodwin and Burgess are more interested in winning an Oscar than winning games of footy? Think of all the extra players we could have bought with the money spent on this mini-series, including keeping Sam Frost. Besides, if the club was really serious about getting into the movie industry, why did they de-list JKH, the only player on the list with real acting experience? Just plain dumb!2 points
