  1. I think the Dees will be fine here. Sad truth is if our whole team did happen to get rubbed out for a year for doping, we would only drop one ladder position.

  3. Continually hear people talking about Petracca's upcoming 'breakout game' which never seems to eventuate, and I feel like that impacts their opinions of him. He's quietly putting together a very good season and has steadily, albeit not linearly, improved over his career. Consider this for 2019: Averaging 18.2 disposals, 2.6 tackles, 2.1 clearances, 4 marks and 1.2 goals. (Importantly for us, handballs more than he kicks also) Ranked 11th in the league for total tackles inside 50, despite playing some midfield time. Currently rated 5th in the league for forwards, ahead of players like Stringer, Charlie Cameron and McDonald-Tipungwuti. And last time I heard the stat reported this year, he was the lading player in the league for winning ground balls inside 50. For a team with such a disconnect going forward, he has shown enough effort and talent on a consistent basis to be given a bit of credit from Dees fans. We can all be a bit hesitant to give any praise during a horror year like this, but I feel he deserves at least a modicum of encouragement for improving against the odds.

  4. This is a load of rubbish. Demanding more out of a player because of the position they were taken at in the draft, something they have no say in, is bollocks. Goodwin: “Look ‘Trac, you were taken at number 2, we need more from you.” Pfft.

  5. Had a thread on this recently 'Nev'...agree with you. "The Incremental Bang Theory" rather than the breakout game... 'Matsuo'...is off the mark with his comments. Trac has been our best forward by a long way this season & is growing in confidence. Spot on 'Chaser'...he's at his best when he has the confidence to take the game on.

  6. I hope this latest distraction doesn’t disrail our season

  7. Think he deserves another contract. He's in our best 22 and their is so much room for improvement with him.

  8. Cross contaminated with something that made us fat and slow hopefully.

  9. Petracca is a very good AFL player suffering under the expectations of being a superstar, and i still think he would get there. he's the number 2 ranked general forward in the AFL, right up there in ground balls, getting 20 odd touches and kicking goals most games. he'd be in conversations although will probably miss out on the all australian squad. Personally i'd love to see him boost his running and play more midfield time but he's tracking along nicely.

  10. He is Norths best player. They won’t trade him for pick 3

  11. My issue with seeing this year as an aberration is that it doesn't prompt change. We need to see it as a trend that requires change otherwise we won't improve. We have the arrogance of Hawthorn yet the record of a minnow. We can't afford to "hope" this year was an aberration. You don't finish 17th by chance. We need to make big changes this offseason. Otherwise I can't see us making finals.

  12. But seriously, the club need to identify who is talking to Tom Browne and escort them off the premises immediately. Personally I think it's Oscar McDonald.

  13. On last week's form Hore should definitely be in & Omac out. WTF? Our coach is hell bent on finishing bottom.

  15. You mean the years where we played well as a team and had much higher statistics overall as a club? Ok then. You do understand how rotations work in modern footy yes? Being named on the bench is pretty different in 2019 than it was in 1984. Harmes was named on the interchange the last two rounds, he's close to being dropped is he? I had hoped people would grasp the concept of improving in a year where we're struggling as a team, but apparently not.

  16. It’s a fair point. After a lackluster start to the season, Trac has been good the past two months or so. He’s really be our only player in the forward line who can say they’ve won their position and contributed. I still expect more from him in the future, but he’s definitely improved this year and continues to trend upwards (set shots aside).

  17. Me thinks you might be new around these parts... In cop speak MB has form. And lots of of it. An like many with form any number of aliases. The fact that his very first line after yet another suspension (it weren't me guvna, i've been fitted up) was 'Possibly the most deluded post I've ever read' should give a bit of insight into a poster who is a serial baiter. A master baiter if you will. What's weird is i have him ignore and that first post bypassed it but thankfully is now back in place. Can i take this opportunity to remind people of a previous health warning i read here: Please do not quote MB, or if you must do so delete text. Research shows his posts can cause lasting cognitive damage.

  21. Rated 5th in the whole league for forwards stats tells me me he has been pretty consistent, and there is about 30 guys on the list he has performed better than this year. Pulling his weight as far as I am concerned which is something you can’t say for a lot of our players. Arguing about Petracca is the least of our problems.

  22. ANB finally out for JKH which took far too long. Goodwin sure does have his favourites.

  23. This might just work. The 2 Tiger monsters will end up in a fight at training tomorrow over who's going to line up on the big O, rendering their forward line fractured and dysfunctional.

  24. love how he stands up in tackles, though at 96kgs for a mid, you'd expect him to be hard to budge.

  25. If he sharpened up his kicking for goal, alot of people would change there perception on CP5. Some of his set shot kicking has been diabolical at times. needs massive improvement over the summer.

  26. He's playing 88% game time and rotating through the midfield. I think they are doing that about as smartly as they can.

  28. He worked on his game to be able to run fast and then kick short. He may not always hit targets but its obvious he listens to what he needs to do. I am glad so many are wanting him to stay.

  31. It's not going to happen. I'd rather get Roughhead from Hawthorn on a one year playing deal with a coaching gig tied in. He can spend the year teaching TMAC and Weed proper forward craft. You can laugh and scoff at the idea., but it makes a lot of sense

  32. Is a supplement still a supplement if it makes you perform worse? Perhaps whatever we are taking should be called a decrement.

  33. Don’t bet on it Ethan, having sat in about 15 lectures from ASADA, cross contamination is one of the leading factor in positive drug tests in athletes. Every athlete (and coach) from about 14 years of age that has any involvement with Australian and state based teams must complete a host of education measures including completing an online module provided by ASADA. I myself have to complete this module yearly to remain qualified to coach on teams. In those modules it discusses the very topic consistently. Heres an interesting article on the Shayna Jack issue: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/athletics/athletes-should-not-trust-supplement-labels-says-ex-wada-boss-20190731-p52clv.html And a link to the topic on the ASADA website: https://www.asada.gov.au/substances/supplements-sport interestingly Swimming Australia is sponsored by a supplement company, so they must be considering their position right about now.

  34. It’s rather poor form that Paul Roos picks on his successor who he had a hand in choosing, from a position of power without accountability in the news media.

  35. Cause no Aussie athlete would take performance enhancing drugs on purpose. We're far too righteous for that.

  41. This writing off Viney, as though he is a liability holding the team back, is ludicrous! He puts his body on the line in every game... part of the reason he has been struggling in recent times. Jack shows what it means to give one's all for the team, and has done so since his first game. He has played through pain, battered and bruised at times, to try and lift his teammates and this club! What short memories his detractors have! If bravery and competitive instinct are part of the good Captain's DNA, then Jack has them covered, and then some. Remember, Ronald Dale was struggling to find his place, early days under Norm Smith. It was said at the time that he simply banged the ball on his boot in careless fashion and was a danger to his teammates with his manic attack on the ball... does that sound familiar?
