  1. The football community has been waiting 4 decades to see Blight's goal replicated. Many have tried but failed. There has been some great torpedo kick highlights over the years but Hunt's is as good as Blight's. The elevation he got on the kick was incredible. The camera shot from behinds was astonishing. Never seen a camera highlight quite like it. Blight's kick was more important because he won the game with that kick. Hunt's wins on degree of difficulty because he was on a more severe angle. Distance about the same as with elevation. This kick will be on highlight reels for decades to come, GOTY for sure and we may not see one like it again.

  3. Different from all the dribbling or fluke accident goals we see every week. Completely purposeful, took great skill and composure. Yes from me.

  4. The 2nd one was just two blokes going for the ball. Bernie had a good game imo

  5. He really does - he keeps pulling out the tricks, but also has such hardness. He marches to the beat of his own drum, Jayden - it's great to see a personality like that in our club. It's been a long time since we've had legitimate swagger, and now we've got a couple that can turn it on.

  6. Am I alone in expressing concern about the club's treatment of poor Dean Kent last night?About half an hour after his injury, we saw him in the changing room with his arm in a sling. Someone was nearby but didn't appear to be assisting or comforting him. I've had a couple of bad orthopaedic disasters. I could see that he was in great pain, which leads into uncontrollable shock, and this appeared to be his fate last night. He was very pale. I was surprised that, with the pain he was in, he had not been transferred to hospital for the best possible pain management. Had the game been in Melbourne I believe this would have happened. Perhaps there was no-one to coordinate this until the match was over? If games in Darwin lead to sub standard care I am even more opposed to them.

  8. Great to see JKH finally look at home at AFL level. Thats why he was given an extra year, there is something to work with now its obvious hes a midfielder. 28 possessions and 5 tackles (2nd most for the Demons) is a nice nights work. His impact on the game can be debated but hes trending upwards and thats what matters.

  10. lol. This crap again. B and F winners who are still having huge positive impacts on games deserve more respect.

  13. Discussion on Hogan's body language is arguably the most overrated topic I think I've witnessed in football. It's a non issue.

  14. Agree totally. Football will help him and he will help the side once he gets a few games under his belt and until then and beyond, he should get our full support.

  15. Just an observation, not sure who it was that landed on Kent as he was sliding but I'm noticing the tactic of players purposely landing on top of players sliding on their fronts to see the ball over the line with the full weight of their body and pushing them behind the shoulders into the turf with a bit of extra force. It doesn't look that sinister when it's happening but it's definitely done with extra force. The exact same thing happened when Nick Reiwoldt landed on Joel Smith resulting in what looks like the exact same injury. As the player cannot see when/if the the opposition players is going to push them into the turf they cannot brace themselves for it.

  16. We don't know the circumstances. He may have been sitting waiting for an ambulance. I never trust the way things are presented on TV. You can cut to anything and make up a narrative. Cameron Ling is making a career of it.

  20. That would be outrageous. If he gets one week I'll be disappointed. Elbow was dumb but was insufficient force to warrant a week. The clash with Douglas he was going for the ball and braced for impact, which caught him on the shoulder not the head. If he gets any ban I want the club to challenge, please for once in our lives!

  21. Okay everyone who is down in the dumps lets compare our situation injury wise and compare it to our opposition last night. You take out: Sloane vs Jones (yeah sloane missed a half but still) B.Crouch vs Viney McKay vs Salem Douglas vs Tyson Lynch vs Watts Jacobs 3 games back off 12 weeks vs Gawn Walker 2 games back off 8 weeks vs Hogan Id like to see Adelaides perfomance with that situation.. Everyone chill out, next week is a huge game.. Like the Sydney game, put it behind us and move on! We ger players back at the right time of year we are fine.

  22. So much analysis and intrigue for a young player that has simply missed a lot of footy. People love to over complicate what's not complicated.

  23. Not much in either 1 hit on betts he wasn't even watching what he was doing, maybe a fine the other hit he was going for the ball realized at last second wouldn't get there so pulled up and braced, caught him high so free kick at most but being we are Melbourne and the MRP Chook lotto system I expect him to get 4 weeks

  24. We looked tired and very undisciplined with the ball. Really played with very little structure or plan, and their transition from d50 absolutely slaughtered us. I didn't think we really solved this from a coaching perspective all night - which is very unlike us this year. I'd say players didn't execute more then coaches didn't address it as it was very obvious. We miss our 2 best clearance players (Jones and Viney) and our 2 best ball users that can pick through a zone (Salem and Watts). Positives - ANB is going to make it. He's a smart footballer and is a team player. JKH had some moments. Oscar is growing in confidence and reminds me of his brother 4 years ago. He's on the right path. Hunty looks back to his dashing self. Jesse, honestly looks depressed. I feel for the guy immensely. He kept working at it though and I do think that when it comes together for him it's going to help him a lot. The poor guy needs to have some fun on the field and see that life can be great for him. I don't think I've ever wanted to see a player smile as much as I do for Jess right now. Wasnt our night and we looked flat. Need some fresh players back. Kent and Bernie (will get 2 weeks again) will go for Watts and Tys.

  25. Only interested in the positives - I think JKH has turned the corner and is obviously a midfielder and not a small forward. O Mac continues his development down back, Lewis played his best game for us and Hunt has returned to form. i wish Darwin would secede from Australia and be ineligible to host games.

  27. When I opened the thread I was expecting to read how the Crows players actions should have led to a free kick. This is the 2nd time we've copped this in 2017, last time Smith was out for how long? It's a blatant in the back infringement, yet neither was paid. How many soft ITBs get paid every game, yet these more dangerous ones go unnoticed. For [censored]'s sake, do umpires have any brains at all?

  28. I wonder if Adelaide would consider a trade for Vince so Sloane doesn't have to get tagged by him again?

  31. Looking beyond the current season I think there were a number of pleasing signs for us. Firstly add any two of the missing Jones, Viney, Watts, Tyson and Salem and I think the outcome of last night looks a damn sight closer, which is something to consider because Adelaide are a genuine top 4 side. How good is Petracca, His awareness and delivery is unbelievable, while he's not getting a heap of the ball at the moment he will in future years and he's absolutely going to tear games apart. Add him to Jones, Viney, Tyson, Oliver and that's a very good contested ball bunch in the middle. I thought JKH for the first time didn't look out of place last night. We are really starting to bat deep now with genuine AFL players. (although its difficult to replace your best 6 at any stage when injured) Obviously while they are young and need games, ANB, Smith, Hannan, and Wagner are all going to push hard for selection with a full list. You can add Brayshaw and Stretch to that list as well. Finally on a side note - Lever looked to have injured his Hamstring again last night. That would be a concern for any team wanting to throw money at him. Everytime I see Sydney win and Zak Jones sing the song I think to myself he's the one we should be pitching for.

  32. @Wiseblood - what s/he didnt say is that Oscar got his mitt on 4 balls on the line that would have been goals. He was a goal keeper tonight and would have been a lot worse if he wasnt back there. We bombed it in a lot to the forwardline which was our issue. Kent had another down day. Some good pressure work but looks a shell of last yer. Frost had a terrible last quarter which undid a lot of his good work. Pedo he was right on and Max looks like he is short of a gallop. Again the opp targeted him off the ball and one time Jacobs took an uncontested mark as Max was 10 metres away on the ground with 2 crows standing over him. Hogan was an almost game. If the umps were on his side, he would have been paid another 3 marks which probably would have given him confidence to take another 3 he dropped easily. Garlett tried a few things that didnt work, but we get that. ANB wasn't poor - he was a key cog and looks like one of the only players who have grown whilst our leaders are out. Hope that helps.

  33. Thought ANB was good. Is starting to believe, and was our best link-man through the middle. Lewis had a decent game, more intent to impact. Bernie shut down Sloan. Harmes tried. And the Garlett call is nonsense. We know he lacks touch in heavy conditions, but it's not a matter of show-boating. The loss also wasn't down to a lack of running. Suit up again next week.

  34. Hell of an effort. The kid has some serious swagger to him.

  35. JKH was ok. He certainly wasn't excellent. Very little impact on the game. Very little damage with his disposals. Lots of dinky chips and handpasses. Don't get seduced by numbers.

  38. Port are very Jeckyl and Hyde. Beaten at home by Richmond and in terms of form they haven't really beaten anyone in the 8 (except for Sydney at the start when they were depleted on their way to 0-6). We don't usually play well after being in Darwin, but I think getting fresh legs back in is a must. We will need more than just Tyson and Watts, depending on Casey form I think we should also consider Stretch (outside run) and maybe Kennedy/Trengove if Viney doesn't get up.

  43. What's with tha [censored] umpire who pinged Harmes for deliberate when he got pushed over the boundary line? Worst decision of the month to date.

  44. That Frost double fumble in the last was the tipping point to having no chance at a run down ... That event [censored] me off imensley. They were clean all night and our boys didn't handle the conditions. Kicking it down there defenders throats all night wasn't very helpful. Lead up forwards lower the eyes mids

  45. Until the time he went off with 5 minutes to play in the third quarter Sloane had 8 disposals. Vince did his job very well.

  46. Just did a ladder predictor. Had us scraping into 8th spot only to play a red hot Sydney on their home deck. My lord we need our players back. The last couple of months have been an exciting ride but we're running on fumes now. On the positive side, it was nice to see Jesse Hogan working his way into some good form. But please can we get rid of our Darwin fixture as soon as financially possible. I love Darwin. I was born there. But I love the Demons more and this is like seeing an abusive parent (Darwin) beating up your first love (Melbourne).
