  1. I thought he played a good match. Great to have another forward line option. Competes hard. We're a better team with him in.

  2. First game of AFL in 800 days and you're hanging it on him. Your first paragraph is like saying "I'm not a racist, but". Disgraceful.

  4. Just watched Bernie's report on AFL.com & it's an open hand to the face. Umpire should have reported himself for being a f.wit.

  5. The score gap reflectedly positively on the experience gap in a tough game IMO. While disappointed, I wouldn't be too critical.

  7. I'm sure there's already a thread for these self obsessed 'media' commentators but honestly how unbearable are McLachlan, Zempalis and Watson? COMMENTATE THE GAME YOU FLOGS. Don't give an analogy for every single play that happens, stop calling puopolo "poppy" he's not your mate Hamish, Zempalis stop fawning everytime cyril get's the bloody ball and Watson start calling it as it is you weak commentator. Oh, Basil, Jack Trengove. NOT JACKSON, JACK. Not Bernie Jones, BERNIE VINCE. Hamish McLachlan annoys me the most. Self obssesed latte sipping [censored] who is the type of bloke who wears 2XU tights on a sunday morning coffee without shorts on. We don't care that your brother is Gill mate, your as pompous and self absorbed as he is. Channel seven are a disgraceful bunch. Would rather Brett Phillips and the SEN or Triple M commentators any day of the week. Rant over. Go Dees.

  8. Utter garbage AF. He presented and at least broke even at every marking contest on an appalling day for marking forwards. There was not one marking opportunity he had that wasn't contested. He was physical and brought others into the game. The kind of hyperbole you spit is simply ridiculous.

  9. Anyone who bags Melb has got to be kidding....this will be the last year they do this to us....never gave up ....ran out of legs ....where was the "kicking in danger" rule....out of every game I've watched ...,I am super excited by the future....double the experience of games ...go Dees

  10. Such a better effort than last week. Tyson, Jones and Vince were enormous. Gawn was good in the ruck and I felt like our backline played pretty well under the circumstances. Our small forwards, however, were poor again. Kent was better but I felt like Harmes had minimal impact and Garlett was woeful. Trengove and Dawes will also be better for the run, and both make us a better side. 8 day break until we get to beat the Pies for the second time this year.

  12. The problem for Olisik is that Steno's 21 posts have had far more relevance than 4,000 odd of his.

  14. Is there actually a "kicking in danger" rule cause it sure as shitz didn't look like it. Dawks did it all day and not once were called for it. PATHETIC

  15. Never said he had a good game, just arguing that he didn't have a bad one. There are grey areas in between. Sure, he could have clunked a few more marks, but having a few defenders hanging off you all day doesn't help. Each time he was asked to give a good contest he did so, on some occasions locking the ball up when he was outnumbered. Dawes had more touches than Hogan today as well, meaning he probably got to more contests than he did. Let me make it clear that I'm not arguing that he had a good game, just that the knocks on him aren't necessarily warranted.

  16. Matthew 3 knobs Lloyd said that we need a Darcy Parish. The flogger said Oliver does not have the pace of Parish. He cannot help himself, had to insert Essendon into his commentary. He is a A grade [censored].

  17. I don't know about anybody else, but I absolutely lost my [censored] when that [censored] #40 got that free right in front for an absolutely blatant duck, scores level 5 minutes into the last quarter.

  18. Roos needs to say at the presser that those pr1cks got all those head high frees from ducking. That one in the goal square in the last quarter when scores were level was a disgrace. One point in those conditions was enough to kill the game.

  19. This would have been a good day to have had Jack Viney in the side.

  20. Excellent op Mr Bin. Jack's preseason form has carried through. There's well and truly enough evidence to conclude that he's turned the corner. He competes far better than he ever has. He's had the odd lapse, but in the main the effort has been great. He faded in the second half today, but had a crack in the wet and really impacted the game, which was another box ticked. He's really progressed and must be enjoying his footy. The scrutiny on him would have broken lesser individuals. It's testament to his character that he's now well on the way to finishing his career at the Dees. I'll admit that he'll never be perfect in my eyes, but he's reached a level that I'd stopped thinking he was capable of. How good would it be if he could crack 50 goals for the year ? That really would silence his many critics. I hasten to add that 40 will do ! Well done Jack. Keep going. My new avatar will be uploaded in the morning.

  21. Good positives from today. It's hard to believe Jayden Hunt has only played a handful of games. The boy is gutsy, has sure hands and a quick mind, and then there's the pace. Same things to say about Billy Stretch and Christian Petracca. Good returns from Dawes and Trenners. If Dawes stays fit, he makes the forward line opportunities for Jeffy (when it's dry!), Kent, Petracca and Kennedy (when in form) much better. Trenners showed his smart reading and disposal and got the feel of the game more as it went on. It's great to see him back out there. Dom Tyson was best on ground today, he is vital to our midfield, and hasn't reached his ceiling. Oscar MacDonald showed why the club rates him. For his height he's actually developing quickly. He's going to be a very good player. Watching Sam Frost down back was just a big sigh of relief. Big, competitive, fast, thats his spot, leave him there. He made some disposal errors, as does Josh Wagner, but they look like long term backliners to me. The rest we know about. The Hawks were always going to ease out the game in the last quarter with their cool heads, it was that predictable. Bernie Vince needs to pull his head in and the umpires need to stop awarding dangerous and dishonest ducking behaviour now. It's an absolute blight on football.

  22. Cheer up . I wasn't the belting most here were expecting. Stayed with them for 3 quarters and weren't obliterated in the last, we simply lost to a far more experienced team. Some of you guys just amaze me. I hope the club raises the kicking in danger issue. And the increasingly ludicrous head ducking issue. Sue sometimes it requires a bit of mind-reading to know if the player ducked or slipped etc, but they pay frees even when it is glaringly obvious. Either that or we need to employ a ducking coach.

  23. Disagree totally with Hunt. I still think he is doing more than enough down back to keep his spot. Harmes, on the other hand, is one I do agree with. Hasn't done much for a few weeks now. In fact our small to mid sized forwards haven't done much for a while now. They were down again today and it really does hurt us, not only forward of the ball, but also with the style of defence we are trying to play. The only winner through there was Petracca. I'll give VDB some slack in his first game back, but Harmes and Garlett were not good enough today in conditions that saw the ball hit the deck more often than not.

  27. So..umpires don't pay a single in danger the entire game when there is clearely times when a players head could be kicked in, yet they report Vince and pay 50m penalty for an open hand slap that didn't connect? [censored] off.

  35. He got better as the game went on. His last quarter was great, picked up 9 disposals early in that last qtr when the game was still in the balance. His effort in the marking contest against a much bigger body in Mcevoy, then to follow up and beat a second Hawk at ground level was superb. Winning a two on one through pure determination was great to see and shows the character and grit of Jack. Glad to have him back in the side and think he will be valuable for us.

  36. We didn't have enough off the ground hacks. We should have kicked there hand every time they went to pick up the ball like they did to us

  37. You bitter individual, picket. He has a long way to go, but was far from our worst today. Under seige v Hawks did reasonably well. Yes he still has a lot to learn but will learn faster playing AFL than VFL. That said he may be due for a spell at Casey. PS: not (well actually yes) wanting to be a total pedant, but a light year is a measure of distance not of time, FYI.

  38. Stats tell everything, do they? He competed hard and provided a contest all day. He might not have clunked a few but I didn't see him drop any sitters. The Hawthorn defence played him well. At least I won't be making any ludicrious assumptions like you do. Maybe if we played a Robbie Flower in his prime, or brought back '94 Ox and we would have won? Please.

  39. Played dumb football, they thought it was dry half the day. Didn't do the simple things like kick it off the ground, tap it on, we all flew so many times leaving Hawks players to crumb it easily.

  43. Let's be honest - if you had said we would go in at half time 1 point in front, then everyone on this board would have taken it. Super effort from our side to get ourselves back in it. Tyson, Jones and Vince have all been massive and our backline has worked very hard as well. Hopefully we can keep it up in the second half! C'mon Dees!

  44. I wouldn't mind seeing Tommy Bugg run with him today. I think we need Vince playing more of an offensive role today with Viney out. Let Bugg run around and annoy Mitchell all day.

  45. Hawks are ranked fourth for scoring from turnovers. If Port and the Saints tore us up on the rebound, the Hawks could annihilate us. Defensive pressure needs to be at its peak today.

Happy the club waited for me to give Trenners a game, not happy the AFL decided to schedule a game against the Hawks for this weekend. *debatable- only missed the footy when we were winning
