We have injuries and no depth. You want him to fart magical A grade players do you? Jesus I can't believe people are getting stuck into Roos. 4 other coaches lost to Freo this season, and 13 more will experience the same fate soon. They are premiership bound for goodness sake and we are just getting out of the bottom 4 and have some key injuries and no depth. Get a grip.9 points

While this is true, I hope the morons who give him the bronx cheers at the game have a good hard look at themselves. Yeah he's not playing well, yeah he may never live up to the hype but fair dinkum you would think its his fault we were getting dismantled by Freo. I might criticise him and argue why he maybe should gt dropped but you still support your players for [censored] sake. I cant believe the guy isn't an psychological mess considering what hes had to put up with.9 points

If this kid is so useless, so pathetic, and such a waste of space - then why are you bothering? I mean, honestly, we played our third world midfield against one of the best in the comp and yet what are we stuck on? The soft HFF? I will play out the scenario for you - he gets dropped, whipped, beheaded, and spiked and we still have a third world midfield with no hope of beating a first world midfield. He is horribly out of form and on the cusp of being dropped - that's all that needs to be said - the rest is just gnashing teeth and snide asides.8 points

nobody said they were our future. They are experienced top line players who can show the likes of Salem, Hogan, Brayshaw, Petracca, Kennedy-Harris and other youngsters present and near future the way.8 points

The club has been rubbish, i get that.. but it never stop Nathan Jones and Tom Mcdonald from being the players they are today. Gotta stop going back and blaming the past. The reason why Watts is in this position is because its between the ears. Some point he has to take blame for his performance. Its not the past that stops him from going harder to the contest or putting pressure on opposition around the ground.7 points
-
The saddest thing about Jack Watts is that i don't think a stint at Casey will fix anyrhing After 100 games Jack is just Jack....7 points
-
Let's at least establish one thing. Anyone who proposes that we drop Pederson after his gallant performance today, needs to acknowledge they either didn't watch the game or know absolutely nothing the game.7 points

Aside from the Dunn comment, agree with the rest. Coaching was very poor, both in the set up and picking of a slow tagger, without basic AFL skills, as a sub. Mind boggling selection. The failure to man up the 7th defender was a match losing move. Poor disposal again and a brilliant midfield opposition, in a team well drilled and with good disposal, meant certain defeat.7 points

Sat near him today and he said he is 1 more week away, so in for Hawks hopefully.6 points

There is a VERY easy way for Jack to get everyone off his back.......and he won't or can't do it. 7 possessions in your 100th game. It's a pity we don't have anyone pushing up from Casey to take his place, because we will get served up the same rubbish until we do.6 points

No, they aren't. None of those players will be part of our next premiership. What they are there for is to support the next group coming through, something we failed to do the last time we tried it. Those guys you named above are there for the Viney's, Salem's, Brayshaw's, Hogan's and Petracca's of our list - to guide them with their experience, to help set the right culture and to support them on and off the field. We made a huge mistake last time when we went with youth by getting rid of all our experience to give them games... and we all know how that worked out. The above guys are planting trees for the shade they will never sit under, and we as a club are better for it.6 points
-
These are such uninformed comments. We have 7 players over 26 years of age and 7 players with more than 100 games. How much 'youth policy' do you want??6 points

Our midfield is terrible and Fremantle's is possibly the best in the competition. We aren't capable of going with sides who have midfields that much better than ours. We were also thoroughly outcoached today. Doesn't mean Roos isn't doing wonders for the club, but two key structural issues were rampant all game and he did nothing to fix them - firstly, we continued to have our forwards too far up the ground, which meant any time we got the ball off them, we'd look up, try to take the game on and move fast, but see nothing but Fremantle players; secondly, the loose man in defence - as a low-skilled side we gain nothing from putting someone behind the ball. It allows the more talent opposition loose man the opportunity to clean up our untidy forward entries and they just go around/over/past our hapless loose man. Terrible coaching from Roos today. Salem getting injured doesn't help at all, but surely we can find someone at Casey who is better than McKenzie? He's so devoid of confidence and ability in kicking the ball that he thought the best option at one point in the fourth was to handpass to Jamar, who was standing still and not calling for it. To be clear, no one player can cause a 68 point loss, but it's an indictment on our depth that McKenzie was considered the best option to replace Kent. He did absolutely nothing to show he has improved one iota, so what does that say about Riley, Bail, M Jones and Terlich? Dunn is also in terrible form. He has been next to useless so far this year. I thought Jamar battled well in the ruck, McDonald did his part again in defence, and Brayshaw is really going to be a great player. Garlett continues to do a fine job, especially with far less to work with today than last week.6 points

Freo are just a far superior team to us - they are on track for a GF berth this year and are playing with something to prove. They are bigger and stronger and have a better drilled team. The only way we could compete with them today is to run run run and pressure from siren to siren and take advantage of our opportunities when they were present. They run off so well and we weren't switched on. The first 20 and last 20 minutes destroyed us, for the rest of the game we did OK to stick with them but never took advantage of our chances and buckled under real and perceived pressure. Think they said on the radio he copped a concussion.6 points

Considering that our AFL team couldn't beat the Essendon ressies in the NAB Challenge this was a fair effort.6 points

The last quarter was disappointing and I would have liked to see us stay in it for longer, but the previous two quarters showed that in time we have what it takes. The end result is hardly surprising and they have some SERIOUSLY good players. They will go close to a flag this year. We are better than the end result. Hopefully enough posters on here realise this.6 points

They've beaten the best teams in the comp, blown most of their games away by half time. We're coming off being the worst team of all time, a quarter of our best 22 are out, they're full strength. We're getting smashed stat-wise but we're putting up a fight. If you're upset about this, you need a better hobby.6 points

I think Andrew Swallow might be in a bit of strife. His chin made forceful contact with Luke Hodge's forearm. On MRP history, that's at least two weeks.6 points

And the Dogs played against a team that played in the GF last year, and beat them on their own dung heap. And the Dogs have had far more things go against them this year than us, but their coach has instilled a winning mentality. Stop making excuses. Sure we were beaten by a better team, but some of the efforts were deplorable.5 points

Gws: Wasn't too bad. Went missing in the 2nd half.Adelaide: Soft and insipid. Richmond: Another performance he would rather forget. Freo: Worst on ground. Time to take off the rose coloured glasses mate..5 points

The difference between us and Dogs & Saints is they've got great senior leadership in Murphy & Boyd & Morris, and Riewoldt & Montagna & Fisher respectively. We didn't. We had no choice but to import our senior leadership - in fact, straight into the leadership group in most cases. It's not complicated.5 points

Everyone is useless in a resting ruck role against the Freo monsters. Howe, not really sure where he is at, looks lazy or disinterested. Watts is a basketballer playing footy. Freo are unreal, that midfield was just having a laugh today. We looked sore all over the ground. We have a lot of young blokes who do need weeks off but no one to fill the void. Tommy Mac the best defender in the game year to date. Dunn was good today.5 points
-
Keep looking to the future, and we'll never become a good side. Just get games into young players and they'll develop by themselves, eh? We tried the youth path before, and won 10 games in 3 years.5 points

Whatever Watts' position is supposed to be, I'll take Pedo doing his thing, he and Dawes can take turns leading up or playing deep. Pedo isn't an elite user of the ball? Neither is 2015 Watts. His best game in round one he butchered easy kicks, and in the following games he's lobbed Cam Bruce specials onto teammates heads 25m away many times, all resulting in turnovers. He has been a splendid user of the ball in the past, but this year it's been below average, which is why so many are on his back again, his disposal was his only value to the team. He's not marking around the ground, he's not tackling, he's not having shots on goal, what's he doing?5 points

The you aren't watching. Was deplorable today. Avoids physical contact like the plague. We were a man down today.5 points

How many times has Roos said that about the side this year? You seem to be quoting from 12-16 months ago? What should he say about Freo who have demolished all in their path when asked? FWIW take out the the first 10 and the last 20 and we put up a good effort but didn't take our chances. They were too big and classy and showed again we just need more midfield class and maturity. They hit the contest hard at the start and our leaders did not respond. We needed more from Jones and Vince. Tyson is useless on the spread away from the contest and only ok at the stoppage at the minute. He is clearly not fit and needs to get whatever it is sorted. None of McKenzie, Watts or Grimes cost us the game but only one gets a pass mark. McKenzie should not have been sub and should not have been in the team in the first place unless a suitable job was the reason. Watts had the least impact of any player on the ground. Grimes had a good game I thought nullifying his opponent. NB: Fyfe is playing a different game than any other at present. He is a freak and I could watch him all day.5 points

Fremantle are awesome, we didn't take our chances and the umpiring was a disgrace. I don't know why Watts gets so much scrutiny, he works so hard and puts his body on the line.5 points

Happy 100th Jack. Keep doing what you do best. Find the teammate that no-one saw. Work through traffic and create play. Run hard to position and demand the footy. Find yourself with no opponent because you're a reader of the game. Use your skills to bring others into the game. All the best.5 points

thats garbage. The previous administration had that policy and got rid of all our senior players including junior macdonald. Did you think Bsiley, Prendergast and Neeld's youthful teams were great? The few dead wood oldies that they recruited were useless. Lamuumba, Garlett and Cross have brought in some good mature leadership and skill sets. Carlton supporters are spitting chips that they lost Garlett.4 points

That is absolutely right! In the third quarter he ran back into oncoming players without hesitation--tremendous courage. I can't believe he's treated so badly on this site.IMO he's a better defender than Howe, who should be on th forward line4 points

Seriously innit until 10 gone in the last , miss miss miss , not good enough in front of goal garlett brayshaw keep a runnin howe kick straight and all of a sudden its reward for effort time. Umpire28 should be banned trom all mfc games and just umpire his mates at hawks and dockers4 points

To be fair Walter and then Ballentyne did nothing on Grimes. He won his position.4 points

Reality is Freo is absolutely a 10 goal better team than us. We all know it. Add that to Jones, Tyson and Vince having poor games, no Viney, no Jetta, Salem injured, no Dawes, disposal efficiency in the toilet and bad umpiring and the result was inevitable. I'm just disappointed that we lost it completely in the last and stopped trying. Positives; McDonald, Brayshaw, Hogan. Glad I'm leaving the country tomorrow and won't be back until the Hawthorn game.4 points

Can someone set Dom Tyson's alarm clock next week, if he could wake up some time this season, that'd be great. Pedo is best 22. Watts isn't. Thank [censored] for Tom McDonald. [censored] off everything else.4 points

Oh please He was part of the reason for the Debt Demolition ie saving this club........Spent a huge amount of time organising fund raisers at the Dee's and casey. He played his football for Melbourne and Coached Freo into the finals for the first time in their history So please enlighten me that he has no AFL level traits, substance or relevance. Yes he may have made some mistakes(Who hasn't) but he put his heart and soul into the Melbourne Footy Club. It's so easy to sit behind a keyboard and knock people who have contributed to the club in ways you can only dream of. You only show your ignorance.4 points

Pro Dee, Henrietta Lumbago, jabberwocky, Frosty Demon et al, could you guys just bury the hatchet for one day and wish Jack well for his 100th game. After all he is playing in our colours. Whatever your disappoints about Jack, he is out there doing his best for us. Cheer him on today. Tomorrow, go back to bagging him(...altho I for one would prefer that you didn't).4 points

I think we might also need to take into account the precedent set not so long ago by the tribunal: these incidents might have looked like blows to the head, might have felt like blows to the head, might even have sounded like blows to the head, but did anyone do a blood test?4 points
