How did the list get like that? Bailey was too blase' with the players, they lacked fitness and structure while twits like Connolly promoted tanking (thanks Prendegast, you did good with the additional picks.....). As this occured the CEO Schwab had his head too far in the past whilst trying to micromanage everything, releasing the annual business plan online known as "Whiteboard Wednesday" off the back of some rubbish book, he also spent erratically. And yet the board was constantly split and leaking everywhere. The players (mature one in particular) run wild after hours constantly visiting Chapel St, new young players came in and what better way to introduce them to the club was by having a bender. Big Max'ey Gawn spewed all over Scully in China and LJ began to hit the booze hard.... ahhhh they were the days.... good times, and what better compliment to know you were really in with the boys by getting on "Beamer's Bumps and Bruises". Sylvia, Beamer, Russian, and Rivers truly led to the appalling player culture you see today. Then came along Neeld, the hard ass we needed to whip the place into shape - too bad he was a moron. He completely lacked the ability to innovate, communicate and build the appropriate relationships with players and staff - particularly those that would of helped rebuild a positive culture like Green, instead he stripped him of his captaincy and had him retire. He also ignored those that could actually help him take the club forward, like that of T. Viney and recruiting staff wanting to draft Wines over Toumpas. The moron Neeld didn't even write his one and only B&F speech, most of that was written off the back of a fans email. Now you try and bring Roos into it, trying to place him in the same light as Bailey and Neeld, I ask why? All I can say is for once I am pleased with the clubs structure, I see unity and professionalism amongst the staff. If the club is to go forward it will be because of the likes of Roos and PJ. Yes the list is still in tatters but there will be a big turnover at the end of the season and my word I look forward to seeing what unfolds.17 points

No, not the band, but the postion we are in. It would be trite to say we are devoid of talent/skill, pace, mental toughness and belief. Many of us have discussed Priority Picks and some IMO have misguidedly said that is a loser's mindset. Well guess what, we are losers. I was at 186, this was 187. IMO we need far more than a PP, we need several. Anyone who thinks we can get ahead of clubs like GWS and GC, who have been handed great lists by the AFL is dreaming. Have a good look at the expression on Roos face after the game. He is stunned and shattered. He is a Premiership Coach. He is clearly feeling helpless. We need to approach the AFL, with Roos and PJ explaining that we have had 8 years of this crap. That our donors, sponsors and members are at risk and therefore our financial viability is also at risk. This can't go on. What will it do to the broadcast negotiations? There is too much at stake. We should be demanding several picks to try and right the situation. Even if some are given on the basis they must be traded, that would help as we could use our early picks in the draft and trade for better players than we have currently, with the PP's. I am not suggesting this as a quick fix, but rather a method to make us competitive. I can't see any other working. For every player we draft so does every other club and generally we stuff it up. IMO without immediate improvement the future of this club is at real risk. I am not saying the AFL will give us anything, but we will have been totally negligent and derelict in our duty to the club's future, if we don't at least try.9 points

We're all in the same boat there's no point turning on each other to.take out our anger and frustration. I'll sign up again next year because I'm a tragic but I can't really knock those who are fed up and just can't be bothered anymore. At some point this club has to start showing something to prevent people turning their backs. It's one thing to not give members reward for their support, it's another to completely repel them through your heartless and pathetic performances.8 points

I just want to apologise to my children who are 13 and 16 , that they have not had even one decent year to enjoy footy and be proud to be Melbourne supporters. I'm sorry you had to follow this disgrace of a club, and if only I could turn back time I would have myself changed to a Hawthorn or Geelong when you were still babies.8 points

Paul Roos is the best damn thing about this sad club right now. Unthinkable that anyone could question him at this time.7 points

We need to stop this saviour pick mentality, it has failed us terribly.7 points

The more charity we ask for ,the more easy it is to shut us down. The group actually has to find something from within . We should not put the hand out this time.6 points

By the way, nothing but respect and admiration for the MFC fans who went to the MCG today to put up with that gutting. You deserve better!6 points

Hogan and toumpas very vocal on and off the ground. Both directing a lot of the boys where to go. Blease been caught out getting to contests half arsed. Hogan 'gotta f******* go early bleasey, f****!' Saying what we all think6 points

We should've kept Martin as first ruck and traded out Jamar when he had currency. I suggested this at the time and was howled down.6 points

Bailey. Neeld. Roos. Interim coaches. A bevvy of coaches, yet the same old Melbourne keeps popping up. There is a common trend here, and here is a hint; it aint the coaches.5 points

Good tactic not to talk. In all honesty what could he say that hasn't been said. He's marked the cards of who's to go so no point in flogging a dead horse. Silence can be golden.5 points

I keep trying to tell myself that it's only a game of football, but I'm haunted by the fact that I love this godforsaken club. How long can unrequited love prevail? God knows!4 points

People saying it's Paul Roos fault have no idea! How many coaches can this mob burn! I put it on the culture of our club! When things get tough we go pack up shop. Judge Roos after his 3 years!4 points

I hope Roos doesn't crap on about the tanking and losing culture etc in his presser. Just say "they ain't any good and we need to gut the team bigger than ever before". NO MORE EXCUSES. Oh and for god sake don't let any of the players speak to the media during the week and say "we need to get better as a team, we need to be consistent, we need to improve etc etc bla bla bla bla bla. Show something on the field FFS.4 points

That rivals 186 as the most despondent I've ever felt as a Melbourne supporter. Our once proud club are at rock bottom. I'm heartbroken, shattered, totally gutted!4 points

I was at a dinner which Stef attended not long before he was traded. He wasn't confident of remaining at the club. His form hadn't been good for a while and he had been under an injury cloud. I believe that most at that time felt his career was limited and Brisbane, when it took him, had him pegged for a relief ruckman under the new interchange regime. As it was it took him 1½ years to cement his place in the team. To paint his departure as anything other than business as usual in the world of football trades would be a gross exaggeration of the reality at the time he left the club.4 points

Yep another great descion by neeld to trade him.. He always showed promise, I'm not suprised his shown this form. Would be a lot better on the list then fitzy & spencer. Having said that I think he relishes the #1 ruck spot and rucking alone. So not sure how he'd go playing the Pedersen role as forward- part time ruck. But gee I wish he was still on the list.4 points

As had been reported previously on site - the Rev is battling the terminal illness known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Those diagnosed have a life expectancy of 2-4 years. The Rev's health is getting worse and he's done an interview with Tim Watson that will be on Channel 7 Monday night - apparently very moving. Just want to pass on my best to the great man who in retrospect did an unbelievable job at the Dee's. If only we could go back to the days of complaining about making finals every second year!!3 points

Me too. To my 4 kids, I am so sorry. At least I had Flower, Shwartz, the Wiz, Neita, Jurrah. My kids get nothing.3 points

running through our list, i'll just name the players we need to keep. The rest are expendable or, more likely a lost cause. Will be easier that way. Hogan, N Jones, Salem, Viney, Tyson, Kent, Cross, Pedersen, Vince, JKH, Gawn, Jetta. That's 12 out of a total of 44 including rookies. I have just under 3/4 of our list as couldn't care if they were delisted, traded, retired. WHat's more, we have been re-building since 2007, or 8 years, yet we have more problems in our list now, than we did back then. FFS, it's a lost cause3 points
-
I honestly think we would do better if we traded the lot of them. I'm a 35 year consecutive member and I ain't buying another membership until we start winning games, not because I'm disloyal , but because of my mental health...gotta switch off footy for a couple of years, start getting into other sports.3 points

The fans who are there today after 8 straight years of this crap deserve a medal. I don't blame them for booing. Not when the same losers keep serving up the same tripe week after week. Enough is enough.3 points

Roos needs to tear them a new one and show us why we're paying him a million plus a year. I know the players are crap but he's the man who sets the standards. He now needs to enforce them. There's no excuse for putting supporters through this garbage week after week. My usual optimism has taken a beating in the last hour.3 points

Pretty much how I saw it too. Had a run, and no injuries. He's very vocal on and off the ground which is a good quality and hates losing contests. Had a ball kicked over his head and his opponent marked it, he swore very loudly but turned straight away and smothered the ball to our advantage which was good to see3 points
