  2. The funny thing is that our players look at our club and go "This place is unprofessional. I want out." And all the other clubs just look at our players and go "Man are they unprofessional. Why should we pick them up?" And anyone who does get picked up goes "Holy crap. I had a good thing going at Melbourne. If only I'd shut my mouth and worked a little harder, I wouldn't be on the verge of getting delisted by Hawthorn/Collingwood/Richmond."

  3. A body was found floating in the Yarra today. Male, fish net stockings, long blonde wig, lip stick, mini skirt and a Melbourne jumper. Police took off the jumper immediately to save humiliating the deceased man's family.

  8. If there's anyone out there who's thinking that we might be better off losing today, I'd like to just suggest that you go and punch yourself in the face right now.

  9. I think this is beyond any one person to fix up. The club now has to communicate with its members/supporters much better in order to keep everyone updated on what they are doing to fix up this total train wreck. If the club does not do this in the right manner then it will take a small miracle to get people signed up for 2014. As for this list of highly paid, highly trained and highly pampered young men, they have taken this famous club to its knees and do not deserve the respect of the supporter base. I watch teams like North Melbourne and many others who at least give their heart and soul to supporters. The MFC list are the complete opposite. Once there were MFC warriors, at least I have those memories to hold onto.

  14. Just loved the way Watts crashed a pack up forward for us today and skittled two of the Giants. I saw it. It happened. We need Watts There are many others to delist before him.

  15. Man is that a load. Neeld did much damage to this group. He was a lousy people manager. In the words of a player I spoke to last week, arrogant know all who neither commanded nor gave respect.

  17. The Demons players need to be given the rest of the year off........ I almost shat my pancreas out from shear rage at the lack of [censored] effort.... There were only a couple of players that deserve half their paycheck the rest should be given a new contract like the lawyers advertise on the tv.... No win, No Fee! Now comrades let us all rejoice in hearing the communist inspired club song!

  18. No words can adequately describe the shame and the anger I feel towards this club, the playing list, the board, the administration, the coaching team. I feel disgusted being a Melbourne supporter and I can no longer bring myself to live in false hope that we will ever improve. Ever be anything but a sad joke. Only AFL support is keeping us alive right now. Perhaps mercy rules should kick in and they should pull the plug and let us die.

  19. 1 goal in a quarter in perfect conditions against GWS Jack VIney must hate most of his teammates, he fights tooth and nail while 15 other blokes stand around doing nothing

  20. The article was a statement confirming almost everything that I have been hearing. He has stated clearly what needs to happen for him to take the job. He seemed confident that we will get PP at #1 (interesting), the importance of Watts and essentially outlined his 100 day plan. (I am also told Watts signature depends on Roos signature.) Roos again could have added a couple of paragraphs saying that although the coaching job was tempting and he believed we had the foundations of a good team, due to family reasons, and media commitments he was unable to take the offer, but in his opinion ........... or ........... had the right skill set and should be pursued. The facts are he again had a perfect opportunity to politely let us down. BUT HE DID NOT. Clearly this is an open letter to members, board members and the AFL of what his requirements are. He wants to coach us, but these things are non negotiable.

  22. No, what I'm saying (this is probably too much for you) is that if Wines was here, he'd be way, way worse than he is at Port right now. He'd be far off the pace he's showing now, and the result would be that people like you who think that our first year players are a problem would be having a go at him.

  23. To me, our malaise is a deeply rooted psychological problem. It was highlighted in today's fourth quarter. Kent had run hard to cap off a movement from full back to the forward line to kick a goal from 50 on the run, closing the gap to 3 or 4 goals. There was no celebration though. Not from him, not from anyone who went to 'congratulate' him. It was all glum faces, no smiles, no fist pumping, nothing. It was as if we were 100 points down. Our players have no confidence. They have no spirit. They don't have any belief in themselves, or in the side. Unless they're in front, they don't think they can win. They are completely lacking in enthusiasm, in the will to even be out there. They aren't enjoying football, they have no energy. This is why we don't chase. We don't run hard enough in either offence or defence. We just don't seem to care right now.

  24. Yes, it's been said many times that it wasn't all Neeld's fault, it was Schwab's poor chains of command, Connolly, the blatant tanking, the handling of Junior and other senior players, the weak list management for years, a sleepy Board, etc. But, by God Neeld was the nail in the coffin.

  29. A pathetic soulless mess. If it was an animal you'd do the humane thing and put it down to save it suffering any further. I've just about had it with this club. I really have. It's just a joke that never ends, with players that either don't give a [censored], or give a [censored] but aren't good enough to do anything about it. The anger is well and truly turning to apathy. We lost to GWS today and I barely care.

  30. I think it's disingenuous to blame Neeld alone for out current situation. The train wreck that we are today left the station a decade ago and was caused by a combination of poor coaching, poor recruiting, list management and player development. It started in Neale Daniher's latter years and was compounded during Bailey's term. Needless to say, things didn't get any better under Mark Neeld's short tenure but the mess was already there when he arrived.

  31. If we don't improve next year then I hope the club folds. All this is doing is destroying the reputation and proud history we once had. It's embarrassing and nobody deserves to go through this any longer. I just don't understand how the players can run around and not try as hard as they can! They should all have KPI's to hit eg. 5 tackles per game, and if they don't hit this then they shouldn't get paid. If I didn't have to work get results in my job, I wouldn't be paid and I'd be fired. I don't understand how footballers are different to all the rest of us working for our money. As a club, we are worse than Fitzroy before they folded, and we will go the same way if it doesn't turn around fast! So ashamed right now.

  37. We need a plethora of mids, but Hogan and Boyd could be one of the great forward combinations in history. I think you'd have to retain Boyd and come up with other clever ideas to inject some grunt and class into the midfield.

  39. Here's a different spin on Roos' article. It is part of his interview process with Peter Jackson, given that Jackson pitched to him on the Monday night via On the Couch. Just so they don't waste time down the track. Brilliant! They are using the media to conduct the interview process!

  41. I potted him. And he has been an abject failure. Anyone who thinks they're getting bang for their buck from this draft pick number 2 is border-line certifiable. But I also remember the talented junior and first year player I saw. Which is why his present poor movement, lack of instinct, lack of initiative, lack of aggression, lack of class, etc. is one of the greatest mysteries I've seen in football. And yes, everyone has an opinion as to why. There won't be a supporter in the country who doesn't want him to be the player we envisaged. He's one of the reasons we're as crud as we are.

  43. I think we should learn from our past mistakes and keep Jamar for the length of his contract. He will be able to offer experience around the club and god knows we need that. He will also be a handy replacement if Gawn or Spencer goes down. We have prematurely got rid of our older players in the past and it's killed us. I would actually prefer he never plays another game as it means Gawn and Spencer are both doing well but the input he can provide for both of their careers could be valuable.

  44. Jamar for Witts? Are you people insane. You really think Collingwood would go for that? A bloke the wrong side of 30 for a guy who's yet to enter his prime but has a tonne of talent. Yeah Grundy might go slightly ahead of Witts right now but they are both Collingwood's future and imposing ones at that. Jamar is worth a third round pick these days at best. Be realistic.

  48. Reading that article has turned my mood slightly. Its almost like he is telling everyone what he wants done before he takes the job. I believe he is strongly and seriously considering the job but as he said a president needs to be installed first. Interesting he said if he got a priority pick he would trade for a star midfielder. And Roos is the type of Coach that will attract good players!

  50. Correct me if i'm wrong but am i to understand that our number one draft pick, (who has been nothing but under whelming since the day we drafted him) is waiting to see if the club (who has been patiently waiting for years for him to actually fulfil or even look like coming close to fulfilling his potential) is able to sign a coach that is up to HIS liking before he even considers putting pen to paper?!!!??!!! Excuse me, i just need a moment to myself here:
