  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

CAC I've been critical in the past, but I must say your record from 2002 onwards is close to the best in the business. It's a shame that you are leaving when you are getting more right than wrong, but if there is a club that needs your help in recruitment Richmond is the absolute number 1.

all the best

Thanks for everything Craig. You will be sorely missed but the current bunch of young players you've hand picked are excellent and you have ensured success for the Melbourne FC in the near future. Thanks again and your decision is understandable. Cale Morton may come back to haunt you and your Toiges

Thanks Craig for all of your hard work, honesty and openness that you have displayed over the years, and thank you for being such a great contributer to this website

I can certainly understand the need for a fresh challenge, but hopefully if Melbourne wins a flag in the next 2-3 years you'll have a beer for us and realise that you had a lot to do with that success.

All the best for the future.

P.S.- a special thanks for Brock, Jones, Bell, Rivers and Bartram :D

Just a note to everyone at Demonland to say thanks for all the support and banter over the past few years.

The other factor is my family connection to Richmond. I grew up barracking for the Tigers.

Of course you know that, this shows a great flaw in your charecter.

Thanks very much Craig for your openess and honesty in what you have been willing to pass on to us Melbourne tragics over the years.

I wish you all the best in your new position and for your future. I think that Richmond are finally getting on the right track with what they are trying to do, hopefully it is too late to save Wallace though.

CAC - really appreciated your openess in coming on this forum, and your participation in the Demonland Player Sponsorship activities. And of course your drafting successes. Hoping that "The Team that CAC built" brings home the ultimate bacon soon for the MFC - then we'll really toast you!

Thank you CAC,

I've loved your work, I think there's a list there that you could be very proud of in the next few years.

Unfortunately, you'll have to wait for success as Richmond as your Demons lot will forever be a couple of years ahead of what will, I'm sure, be a great Tigers list you put together.

All the best, except for a couple of games a year...

Craig, just wanted to add to the long list of thanks. You're a top 4 recruiter and you've left us with a top 4 list in the making. You're a true gentleman and I wish you all the best at the Tigers. A Melbourne flag in 2010 followed by a Richmond flag to end the Melbourne attempt at four-peat in 2012 would be just reward. Goodbye and goodluck!

It's a pity that not all are swayed by this noble sentiment.

I hope and suspect you know my feelings. All the best.

All the very best Craig, I think it's an understatement to say the Tigers need someone of your calibre to help them sort out their problems. I sincerely doubt you'll post on here again now you've crossed the road, and we'll all be the poorer for it.

Wishing you all the best Craig. You'll be missed. Thanks for all your hard work in a tough environment and your accessibility. Hopefully the fruit can ripen on the tree and we can harvest the cup - if so you'll be a huge part of it.

Thanks Craig and good luck with your new team. I've really appreciated all your insights both here on Demonland and at the AGMs/Info Nights over the past decade. Your accesibility, honesty and likeability will be missed by everyone at the club

Cheers,

DemonDave

All the best CAC,

You are to be congratulated for your insightful posts and your willingness to engage with this part of our supporter base. I wish you every success at the tigers.

and hopefully find the star that we couldn’t quite unearth in the last 10 years.
I hope so too, it is the 1 thing I have longed for... a superstar up there with the best of the best, that player that can drag you over the line more often than not in the big games, James Hird, Michael Voss, Roo!

(Maybe there is one there already lying latent. Let’s hope so).

I'm not sure sure ;)

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
