GAMEDAY: Rd 03 vs Carlton

Featured Replies

If only there were some sort of milestones the boys could be playing for today…

… something to gee them up so they could come out firing

Hmmm

(6 goal Q1 deficit same as last week, only this time we are at home, against a bottom 6 team)

Thank christ we didn't trade this years first rounder. Only silver lining. We are hopeless, definite bottom 3 club. You simply cannot run Kolt and Steele in the midfield at once - too slow.

So what I can gather is our forwards can't mark & carltons can

Our forwards haven't even had the chance to mark so far.

Ball has lived in Carlton's F50.

I’ve switched to the Grand Prix

Defence is absolutely trash.

King has turned a decent defence into absolutely rabble.

Sad how quickly this season has turned from hope and excitement to despair and just praying that we’ll even be competitive against battler teams.

Time to see what King is made of.

Pathetic all over the ground.

Lever, CJ and Salem are liabilities down back and all need to be dropped. We refuse to man up, cannot hit a target to save ourselves, and are playing soft scared football.

King won’t do it, but I’d be tearing strips off them.

Oh and these umpires have NFI. Can’t man marks properly and don’t seem to know what holding the ball is. Tholstrup should’ve been penalised for a throw, but they just waved their arms play on.

Let’s see what you’re made of King.

I blame @binman

Can't stick tackles, won't take body contact, can't hit targets. Otherwise all is well.

Yeah and we got rid of a bloke who knows how to get contested ball, OLIVER remember him???? Honestly I thought we were fumbly last week. This week is WORSE again

Blah blah blah

Windsor isn’t a centre bounce player at the moment. He’s a wingman who should float into the area for outside ball. Langford needs to be in the guts asap.

Mate, stop clogging every thread with this dull garbage. If you don’t want to do 12 seconds of research to find out why Clayton HAD to go to then that’s on you.

This is more embarrassing than last week and I watched that live.

The players need to pull the finger out of the backsides and put some effort in.

We have nothing in the middle. Absolutely nothing. It’s hard to watch.

KING serious questions he got rid of our best ball winner, Clarry, a once in a generation player. Well isn't that working out splendidly

Get over it Picket, he's gone FFS.

Same as the last two years

No mid field dominance for reasonable periods to arrest and stop the rot / win territory.

No mids working back to intercept / defend.

Forward entries / methods are just as putrid as ever.

No pressure, poor skills and look like they're playiing like a mid level VFL club.

No ability to close the game down when opp gets a run on, drop the rolling zone and go man on man behind the ball in order to cool the opp down for even 10 min.

Early days. Hope i'm proven wrong and we produce 'something' in the remaining 3 Qs but looking like a major rebuild now.

God I need a drink after watching that!!

Looks like we are back to “ learnings”

Great start

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
