Jake try to bend over and tie his own shoelaces again?

Did anyone tell Windsor that playing in defense means punching from behind if you cant get to the front.

Bowey and Billings ARE not worthy of getting another game in the ones.

For pity sake - Play on! take your 1st option.

Bowey looked terrified of making a mistake. He used to be a delight to watch hit a target.

Billings took a mark 30 m out and turned around without looking for another option. I went uh-oh.

Of course he missed again. I cant remember when he kicked an important goal for us. We could have used it. Saints fans are laughing. He is 29! Think he will suddenly change?

We kicked 24 points! Disco's shots scrapped inside the post from 20 Meters out. He was in front but went checkside!

This thread is full of the "positives".

Who signs off on this cr@p? Are the coaches coaching one percenters?

I need another training report to cheer me up.

I'm surprised this hasn't had any other scrutiny on here!

What's he going to do from the other quadrant? Are defenders only going to have to defend 5-and-a-half forwards?(*)

And he won't have the goal umps on his side, having to judge where the ball is as it goes across the goal line, high and curling.

(* Though maybe it's a cunning plan to have them doing just that?...)

He had a back spasm because he got a hip or knee to the back trying to hold off his defender on a lead after Sparrow kicked a moon ball to no one on the first inside 50.

He was just about immediately subbed off for AJ so we weren't one short and didn't have to restructure.

Freo subbed on a defender at half time then 2 impact subs (Voss and Erasmus) for the last. We subbed on Kossie and Taj for the last.

Watched the incident twice after the game because I thought same. There was no knee or hip. Was the slightest of nudges and probably tweaked it trying step back towards play.

Having a crook back for 30 years I know how easy it is to tweak from the most simplest movement.

For whatever reason, this is coming up blank for me.  Would someone please be able to elaborate for me?  Got a decent reaction so my interest is piqued.

Glad you mentioned Woey. I thought he was good when he came on and even the previous week against North Melbourne I thought he played pretty well.

On form, he's ahead of Langford for instance especially if it came down to the final spot.

I agree with you.

His first kick resulted in a turnover but i'm sure the coaching staff will say they're glad he backed himself to hit that short one rather than the (2024) bomb to the top of the square.

Went on to collect 8 touches with improved efficiency. Albeit different position entirely to Chandler but gave a far better showing in just a quarter.

Really looking forward to seeing what Woey can offer this year. He's got the tank and ticker, just needs to find a role that suits.

Methinks, as a last resort, when Billings is having a set shot that someone like Sharp, Sparrow, Petracca ... run past and take a handball.

We all know there's a snow ball's chance in hell that Billings will kick a goal.

Shame he is out his lack of chasing and general air of disinterest defensively would be a benefit to us

I think it was due to the wind... probably felt he had a better chance at a snap rather than drop punt

if you look for all the negatives you will fins. its a praccy game and after a year when we down in contested ball, possession, defence etc it was a welcome return to upping those numbers. it will never be perfect.

Agree.  Billings has been great at finding the footy and delivering around the ground.  However clearly his mental "demons" on front of goal are not going to change.  Therefore there are a few options.  Change his role, dont play him or as mentioned, provide an option to hand off when he is setting up for goal.

I too share the concerns of playing our two best - and natural - wingers out of position.

It makes me uncomfortable. Or conversely, I'm always happier seeing Windsor and Langdon on the team sheet as wingers.

Wonder how long he'll be out for.

Just need Whitfield to walk under a ladder and we're in business

Jesse Hogan jammed his thumb in a door and will miss at least a fortnight. It'll further deplete a Giants forward line already without Jake Stringer, Jake Riccardi, Toby McMullin and Harvey Thomas, while Callum Brown and Phoenix Gothard are also in some doubt. @AFLcomau https://t.co/7JkL2x8MtB

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
