Heard David Zita say we were driving the narrative on this one.

Freo should lend us their bus driver hats..

This stuff does my head in and just reinforces the narrative around the media and MFC. Im sure there is some truth to what he says, but i find it rather amusing that the media fail to represent this point around Kozzy to Freo and especially the Oliver to Geelong. I mean if there was ever a case to mount around the clubs trying to shape the narrative they both are contenders as they have dominated the trade headlines over the past 12 months.

Sorry but I hope we don't chase him. He hasn't really gone on & got much better since he left us.

Wrong has still been very good for the period and remember that at 23 his best years are just commencing.

Salary of $900 is worth it IMO as there is no doubt he would make our midfield brigade a much better X factor unit plus people are forgetting he is the perfect replacement for Maxy in1/2 years and relishes responsibility.

That $900 will look slim when Maxy retires and Dogga helps train another ruck recruit.

I'm always amazed at this time of year when discussing player trades, we fall into the trap of only looking at player and draft pick swaps between the two clubs in discussion. If we want Jackson, I'd expect a more complex trade with, for example, two of our fringe players ending up at two other clubs for a couple of second round draft picks which we then on-trade to another club with another of our fringe players for their first round draft pick. Then we have something we can go to Freo with.

Not specific to Jackson but I love a bit of misinformation coming from our club aimed at other clubs.

It’s about bloody time!

Well, we should be able to get this done easily as we have heaps of fringe players at Casey, but would any team want them?

I think as a group of fans we tend to overrate our own a little. Until they can show something at senior level or a specific elite trait at the VFL level, players like Woewodin, Laurie, Jefferson, Howes, Adams, Verall, Sestan, Mentha, Brown, Henderson, Johnson, Kentfield, AMW and Culley have no trade value. That’s not to say they won’t make it as AFL players, it’s just that they are unproven.

Spargo,Billings, Hore & Sharp also would limited appeal.

If we are looking to trade out players with market value, we’d need to be prepared to say goodbye to a Premiership player like Fritsch and or one of our more fancied youngster’s like JVR.

It’s not ideal but could be done if required.

Really do believe JVR is part of the future here, and he seems to be invested. I reckon his form will pick up, he's just a kid.

Agree, he is 22. Most 22yr old forwards arent the number 1 forward at a club, nor at a club that is notorious at long bombs when this kid wants to run and flay at the ball, not wrestle and have it bombed on him.

This may not be his year but he will get better and come back a very good player.

Freo has destabilized us twice with Jacko and Kozzie and didn’t seem to be overly concerned about us.

Whether we get Jacko or not, I also am happy for us to destabilize Freo for a season.

Pretty much any story, news, analysis of Jackson should be accompanied by some fresh MFC speculation.

Ie. "Luke Jackson spent a lot of time as an inside mid against the Suns to good effect. Could the Dees be interested in an inside Mid, how does this effect MFC in 2026?"

Wow, these guys really do grasp at straws. Either watch him meet with Dee’s officials or let him visit his partner in peace

AFL journalists are bottom feeders

I sooo hope he has organised to meet with an ex teammate for an innocuous coffee in a very public place whilst he's here.

Comparisons with Gawn/Grundy don't account for the fact that Gawn / Jackson did work and indeed won a flag.

Grundy could not function as a forward: Jackson can.

Jackson, no matter how unlikely to return to the Dees, would be an enormous bonus to our side ... going a long way towards improved mobility, forward pressure and on the scorecard.

Beautifully posited influences in that hope.

All pretty rational to me. A great asset in LJ.

TDS… I am almost afraid to google.

Is it an acronym for our half back line?

Trent (Rivers) Daniel (Turner) Steven (May)

Trump derangement syndrome

To save your fingers from doing the walking, the new one is TACO - trump always chickens out

Watch Scott Bessent - there’s some awfully good long term strategy behind all of this

Couldn't agree more. I'm predicting it un folds like this:

  1. We send JVR to Sydney cos they take our leftovers for two first rounders

  2. We trade one of the first rounders to GWS for Jesse

  3. We send Jesse to Shockers together with the other first round

  4. Shockers on trade Jesse to Meth Coke and the other first rounder

  5. Meth Coke send Harley to us.

  6. Shockers get nothing as payback for taking the Wiz.

Is that an offical diagnosis of Donald’s mental capacity? I thought maybe dementia.

Damn it! Just realised I can no longer travel to the US with the above on the interwebs.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
