people quickly forget that he was lucky enough to have been coached at senior level by 8 different coaches 😊

On the assumption that Tom Morris never quite gets anything right...

I'm going to suspect that Jones is coming in as a specialist stoppage coach and there will be a general midfield coach as well, tasked with overall ball movement between the arcs.

We've surely got quite a bit of soft cap space at the moment, and would have to be seen as a desirable place to take a coaching career when you consider that we've had assistants take up senior coaching positions for two years in a row.

Quality, quality, quality! Legend, legend, legend! True (red &) Blue. Let the negative clan be drowned out! So important to have blokes with good character attached to the Club in an official capacity. Jonesy has the tenacity to make it work, whatever the role!

A rubbish co-captain with no balls. Ordinary player in a weak team. Nothing to offer. Are trying to get number one draft pick next year? Goody must be laughing as Jones is no threat to his job. Such a very underwhelming situation we are in.

That's literally one of the worst takes I've ever read. We'd hardly have a club left if it wasn't for Jones.

You try playing Afl with a broken  neck... the guy deserves respect a MFC legend forever

what qualifications does he have for this role. He's been in the commentary box since retiring rather than coaching. not sure about this. He's a club legend so no issues getting him back involved just think midfield coaching role is too important for a novice.

He has played midfield at the top level for 15 years and has seen more coaches than most players, so he is a perfect option

Do we actually have any facts available about the appointment to make a considered determination on the nature of the appointment? Asking for my friend.

Tom Morris reconfirming that he is a total tool, backhanded slap in the face for Melbourne, the club need to call him out.

I’ll qualify by saying:

·       the MFC have yet to confirm what role he will have with us

·       Jonesy is a legend of the club. I have nothing but the utmost respect for his playing career and legacy with us.

Our last midfield coach held the role with a 3-time premier in the tiges before joining us. has left to take on the head coach role with the eagles

His immediate predecessor was on the coaching team of the 3 peat hawks before being part of our flag

Jonesy may take on the midfield coaching role with us after coaching a school team this year and may or may not have his AFL coaching badges.

I’m just questioning his qualification for the role. If he proves successful, I will happily eat my words. I'll be delighted. I have no issue with him rejoining the club in some capacity, I’m just not sure it should be as midfield coach.

I'm sorry, what's the backhanded slap?

If this helps Goodwin solve our obvious ‘culture’ (standards and professionalism) issues within the group then that is great.

And it will be great to see him back at the club and that he is keen to coach.

My read was that McQualter was in charge of ball movement and game style so who is running that is my main concern - we have to continue to move the ball positively and quickly.

Dazzle after announcing that Nathan was a lock for the Assistant role he then threw in - “It’s taken some work to repair the wounds from 2021”.

I'd be more down for this.

300 games played under several mid field coaches and he is a novice?

Every assistant coach starts somewhere and there is no rule they can’t successfully coach in their first stint.

It’s a toss up between Helter Skelter and Ken Kesey. But suspect Kesey would rather eat his hat.

I was thinking Jim Jones v Nathan Jones

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
