Back to Brad's letter Demonlanders. Let's break it down. Highlighted bits straight from the message.

It is the responsibility of the the Board to provide members with Board candidates and Directors standing for re-election....

Sally Freeman and Dr Angela Williams will re-nominate for election....the latter having been appointed to the Board on 30 September after serving on the Risk Committee since July. Hope she barracks for the Demons.

There are two additional director positions open for election this year. By this time of year the Board is normally full. Not this year. This year, exiting stage left recently were Kate Roffey and Janette Kendall.

Informed by the Board review - we haven't been told the findings yet, but the Board has been informed by it? - the Noms Committee has been working diligently to identify candidates with the right skills to strengthen our leadership. I look forward to introducing them to you at the time of the call of the nominations. Right, so we have found a couple of good ones for you to vote for but we'll tell you next week. It was a bit tight to get them on before 1 October, or they hadn't decided to commit yet? The Noms Committee (who are they?) have been so diligent they have only just found a couple....

I'd also encourage any eligible members who feel passionate about contributing to the club's future to reach out to the club. We value all voices. If you're interested in nominating.....get in touch with our Company Secretary. Code for we want a few randoms to show that we run a fair contest.

And then we are told that Megan Dwyer is benchmarking our governance against best practice standards and we will see those findings in early November (Cup week?). Oh, and nominations open next Thursday on 31 October.

Closed shop anyone?

I read the email as we still want to run a closed shop, but here's an email if you want to give it a go.

It speaks volumes that despite the club saying that the members don't like them installing new candidates in casual vacancy positions prior to elections, they continue to do it anyway.

Let's see what comes of the review.

No mention of Pert, so hopefully he's on the way out.

Reckon the emails will go straight to junk?

You can nominate yourself and see how randoms are treated, instead of just kicking and waffling.

Hence why I started the topic, encourage the terminal complainers on here to put up finally.

How a football club election should be run:

"Barham ( The President) declined to comment on the election, in which adult members can vote.

The Essendon board has a policy of not endorsing candidates, including fellow directors.

Gee thats worked well for them.  I thought the Bombers were one of the more factionalised boards going around?

You really are obsessed.
i have no problem with the Board endorsing candidates before elections.
Why? Plainly because I don’t know who the candidates are. I am Voting blind.
An endorsed candidate is someone the board can work with.
If the board is dysfunctional and the club is not winning games, and not being represented well in September, they will be voted out

It shows, didn’t one even have to resign straight after being elected due to being so out of touch.???

Yeah I remember Cam Schwab referring to shots from the "cheap seats", it doesn't surprise me if the view of those within the MFC hasn't changed, Roffey's comment about "Joey from Moe" shows there is still a level of elitism and disregard for the supporters within the club.

Not sure that quoting Cam Schwab adds value to any discussion.

Forums like Demonland have probably made Clubs slightly more accountable.

Clubs (and coaches & administrators) need to be held to account for their decisions.

Randoms on a forum hold no one to account.

If club administrators or coaches are reading and complaining about sites like this then they should automatically be disqualified from being administrators or hold any kind of office with the club.

Online discourse is made up of the extremes. Neither the serial complainers or sycophants should be listened to.

Sycophants, rather derogatory, they are interested in what is being said on forums, because as I stated previously McClure, Morris et al pick up ideas from them, particularly when a poster uses words such as most of, the majority of, supporters etc, that way Morris for example can say sources tell me a majority etc

Journalists don't need sites like this to write what they write.

and is it derogatory to use serial complainers or is it just the use of sycophants that is. why one and not the other?

You have to remember serial complainers is based on fact, sycophants is a perception driven by the serial complainers appraisal of those who have the temerity to disagree with their continual negativity.

THE HEAT IS ON by Meggs

FNQ will be hot and sultry this Thursday night when the mighty Demons take on the highflying Hawks at up there Cazalys Stadium in Cairns.   The Demons once again rebrand for Indigenous Round as ‘Narrm’, the Woi Wurrung name for Melbourne in the language of the traditional owners.   Narrm has surged back up the ladder and sits just outside the eight on percentage with 5 wins. Our opponents Hawthorn sit second with 8 wins and have been become really offensive.

    AWESOME FOURSOME by Meggs

The rejuvenated Demons out tussled the Tigers by 13 points to make it four wins on the trot on Saturday which means that the slight possibility of a finals appearance remains alive in 2024. This is despite the AFLW handicapping the Demons against their peers yet again (more later). Lots to celebrate as it was Kids Day at Casey Fields and both teams ran onto the ground modelling their Pride jumpers.   Kate Hore won the toss and kicked to the Clyde end.
