The best we can hope for is he plays a lot of good games at Casey!

Finished IMO!

YouTube his highlights and you'll see a human highlights reel (albeit a lot of his goals were from the goal square)

Despite the fact that he couldn't kick more than 30 metres out in his 3 AFL appearances this year, I've seen him (in 2023?) kick a set shot goal down at GMHBA where the 50 metre line meets the boundary line. Basically the toughest set shot in footy.

I refuse to believe that a player can lose his talent and ability to play AFL over night. Until he's off the list, there's a still a possibility that he features for us next year.

Attending camp is a start.

Looks in reasonable nick.  Hope he has a blinder and proves the doubters wrong!

Agreed. Give the spot to someone who really wants it and will fight tooth and nail to be on an AFL list. All I see from McAdam is petulance.

Where did you see that?

Asking for a friend. 😉

I can confirm that he will definitely retire, just not sure when

Pay that.

You shouldn’t be mentioning Fritta in any sentence in the same vein as Shane Mac.

Fans are continually on Fritta’s back because they expect him to play contrary to his assets.
Fritta is not ANB he has other football skills. Let him play those and continue to kick 40 plus goals each year.

Yes his intensity is sometimes questionable but I don’t think he means it. It’s just him.

He’s our best forward and he can improve by virtue of others around him also playing at a higher standard.

He will I believe this year .

That means other players have to carry him when he doesn't chase or tackle. In a systems based environment you can't carry too many players if any.

And then the team ethos comes into play - if he doesn't have to tackle why should I?

A slippery slope. Effort should be non-negotiable.

A disappointing year, but a fit and firing McAdam could give us a whole new look up forward next season.

He's an awkward matchup, a good contested mark and can play a negating role.

Hopefully Shane McAdam turns up in ripping shape at Pre-Season training when he is officially due back.

The ball is squarely in his court to perform in season 2025.

Did he turn up in ripping shape?

29 year old who has averaged 10 senior games a year over the last 5 seasons.

Very talented but tends to do too much school yard "speccie" stuff.

If he can learn to be a selfless team player he could be very handy.

I hope he reads Demonland & it fires him up to prove us all wrong.

I really really hope he doesn’t read Demonland

Does all of this ‘McAdam to retire’ talk stem from one DL poster who also made some Kossie predictions in the off-season that didn’t eventuate?

Or am I missing something?

No you’ve pretty much got it right

Trouble is that you are picking out one issue you believe is nonnegotiable. Isn’t kicking goals as a forward the same.

Don’t see you picking out Chin or Spargs if they don’t kick goals because they may tackle more or go some chasing.

I think you just want to have a whipping boy and Fritta is easy prey because he plays a more highly skilled game and you want him to be a beast. He has kicked about 250 goals averaging 1.6/7 per goal per game and gets many if those goals are special ones that no other player gets regularly.

Our forward line would be hopeless without Fritta and tell me how many goals you reckon are lost by Fritta not tabling as hard or chasing as far or ferociously.

Short memories of Bailey being 2nd best on  ground in the GFinal with six goals. And it does matter what mix of players you have in your forward line not all should be clones.

Look for Fritta’s good points.

If he gets fit, learns to play for the team & stops trying to take 'hangers all the time he could still be an asset.

We live in hope.

With Pickett out for the first three matches our season may well turn on how well he fills in.

His second half of this season at VFL level was sub par for one of his supposed ability.

Fingers crossed

Clearly was under done this year let’s see what he looks like after an uninterrupted preseason. Hopefully the lack of penetration on his kicking was just temporary

and let’s hope he applies more forward pressure next season, would make him an even better player than he already is

Totally agree SWYL any gain for a player in any skill is great for our benefit.
Hope Fritta kicks over 50goals this year.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
