The forward line is the least of the problems. JVR, petty, turner, Pickett, fritch, macadam and Jefferson.ย
The issue is the midfield and delivery into forward 50

Yeah our issue midfield now big time. Would be nice to have a Waterman or Lynch but not at great cost. We need our midfield back up and humming it has let us down big time.ย

I thought we asked this question last year. His body isn't holding up at the moment, I wouldn't.

ย

Yes but only if he comes cheap and weโ€™re unable to land another player/s who would otherwise take up our cap spaceย

I think Tex Walker makes more sense if we go this direction.ย

bbq'ed

he's on massive coin and his body looks incapable of getting through more than a quarter of a season

happy to take on his contract but wouldn't want to pay more than a third round pick - that we probably weren't intending to use - on acquiring him from the tigs

We have committed to building our forward line from the ground up and (imo) it will pay off. We suffered from having too much NQR tall timber, especially at Casey.

Play the kids!! I trust Jvr, Petty and Disco to offer more, consistently next year then any older injury prone forward.

  • Demonland changed the title to The Tom Lynch Thread

Same as Houston, no thanks.

The only KPF we should pursue, if it even happens, McKay in a potential trade for Petracca.

Otherwise, solder on and play on with JVR and Disco.

Or perhaps Tex, but it is a big IF.

I'm not sure if the forward line is the least of our problems, but the midfield and the whole system of ball movement is absolutely number one.ย

Tell our CEO whoโ€™s yapping about needing a key forward.

Petty back.

A mature key forward to cover Jeffo/Disco would be ideal.

If Richmond can swallow 5-750 of his 1.5 ย itโ€™s worth a try if we can fix the midfield and flankers with some speed, skill and aggression

Would TDK or Waterman be tempting - very much so yes. We would have to pay out the bum to get them though.ย

Besides JVR, our keys talls have been drafted very shrewdly by JT and I hope we stay on that path.

But it was true last off season.ย

Now with one more year of development for JVR and the surprising form of Disco, things look different.

We can't be that desperate to just have retired BBB and now bring someone who is as close as cooked as BBB was.

If this is a salary dump, I'd do the deal if it's similar to the Jack Bowes situation a couple of years ago (see below).

ย

"Geelong was the first club to exploit the newly-introduced salary dumping, taking pick No.7 and Jack Bowes, as well as his $1.6 million contract, off Gold Coastโ€™s hands for just a future third-round pick."

Who remembers Kelvin Templeton ?

I still have PKTSD.

It's also a very big and extremely loud NO to Lynch.

I'd say not only because his body is shot but it would be nice to nab someone for a year or two to help fast track JVR and Jeffo's development.ย

ย

Our fwd line has been an issue for years so iโ€™m glad we are exploring options

Obviously we need mids but we can look for both

JVR will be quality but will Petty/Turner be long term quality forwards?

May and T Mac donโ€™t have long left so Petty/Turner could go back

But Lynch he is about to turn 32 so it would be too big a risk imo

ย

No one will take him with his body falling to pieces and there is really no need for the Tigs to move him on.

I doubt there are many on big coin at tigerland at the moment with the recent retirements and trades, so they need to pay someone.

The only way they would get rid of him would to be continue paying some of his contract and trade him for a high draft pick in exchange.

So effectively they'd be buying a decent draft pick which makes sense for them in rebuild mode.

The only temptation would be if his injuries were impact/once off injuries.ย  But when its soft tissue and feet, then it's a no go.

He'll finish at the Tigs.ย  No one else would be rolling the dice on him.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
