I’ve read enough of Demonland to be CERTAIN that this development means our dynasty window has re-opened.

We are about to win 10 straight.... get ready to party.

Thanks for the service fella

Curious how the forward line will go under a new line-coach, guess we'll find out one way or another where the issue is located

He came to the club at (one of) its lowest points and helped deliver a Premiership.

Thanks Staff!

Happy trails Greg. While it may be time for change your contributions won't be forgotten.

Your words of encouragement from the sidelines as Max lined up that kick in Geelong with nuffies all around him might have more to do with that flag than we care to admit.

Expect media to blame the culture.

But on a serious note Staff seems like a really top bloke.

Thanks for your service big man.

Will be interesting to see if this change freshens up the forward line in 2025!

From every one of the many mentions players give him, they're going to miss him.

Thanks for your time and efforts over the years.

A Premiership is no mean feat.     So yes thanks indeed  but  something needed to change,  no blame attributed anywhere, But something had to change and probably more than 1 needs to fall on their sword.  A fresh wind Typhoon even

Wish him well. Believe that will be at Richmond FC

Thanks and best wishes. Part of our 2021 success.  Time was certainly up.

Is this part true -  in his bio … “Greg played in the 2007 Asian Australian Football Championships for the China Reds”.

Loving that the word nuffies is being used here to describe opposition players or in general anyone who isn't Melbourne.

Best of luck Staff. Successful or not I am sure he tried his hardest. 11 years in one place in AFL football is an eternity

Has premiership assistant coach on his resume. Came to us when we were a basket case. Best wishes.

Any idea who we may poach for the forward coaching role?

No doubt there will be some spicy comments on this thread.

Thanks for 11 years of service Greg.

That’s because he is. The boys all adore him and it’s no surprise they do because he’s a lovely guy.

I’m not gonna comment on his prowess as a forwards coach, but I will on him as a person.

Staffy will be sorely missed by all at the club, and he’ll be hard to replace since he was more than just a coach. He was a mate to the boys. He’s always encouraging them and he praises them which goes a long way, especially with the kids.

He’s a happy and friendly guy, always has time for a little chat, and personally I’ll miss seeing him around. Especially out on banner when the coaches come onto the field since he always said hello with a beaming smile which is very welcome before a match.

I understand it’s what’s best for the Club but geez he’ll be missed.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
