Thirteen games in the last two seasons, dodgy knees and about to turn 32.

JVR, Turner, Petty and Jefferson all in front of him. I will be stunned if he's going around next year.

Forever grateful for his 2021 contribution to the premiership.

No, he wasn’t. We would’ve seen him at some point throughout proceedings.

BBB's family were at the game, and Casey's season is now done, so I speculate that a decision has already been made. BBB will be having a nice holiday in the warmth this week - no farewell game.

If we give BBB a farewell senior appearance do we do the same for Lachie Hunter who is sitting on 199 games?

I'd rather pick our strongest 23 and bury them.

Iirc Hunter is injured.

Wouldn't be upset if BBB was given a final game. Premiership player, fantastic team man and all around wonderful human being.

Think they'll probably go for the 3 tall forwards that are currently in the side, but crazier things have happened than giving a player a farewell game.

I'm assuming he's retiring, of course 🤷‍♂️

When I said “he” wasn’t there yesterday it was Hunter to whom I was referring, not BBB.

I think you’re right about BBB. His wife Hester and their little girls were at the stadium for the Casey match, then they were in the guard of honour for the main game and were there ‘til the end. I kinda got the feeling they knew it was the last time they’d watch him play.

@WalkingCivilWar was Hunter on the GC?

We’ve been told that all bar two of our full list were there yesterday, the two absentees being Maysie and Tracc. Lachie must’ve been there but kept low-key and inconspicuous. He did a good job, even little SpargiPants didn’t escape our attention 🤣

Really hope he announces his retirement early enough in the week so he can be honored on Friday night. Same goes for Tmac IF he chooses to retire, which I hope is not the case!

Will the club also do something to say thanks to Nibbler?

As much as I think a premiership player of his character would be more than deserving, despite his 6 goals he looked like he was running in treacle around the ground. Tried hard, but can't run well enough for a game at the G in the environment we will have Friday night.

All the best Ben!!

They’re sorting out plans this week, we should know in a couple of days what the club has in mind.

Incidentally… Essendon’s banner on Friday night was an epic fail. Not only did they do what everyone else avoids, ie. acknowledging a 50 + 1 games player, effectively advertising they forgot the player’s 50th game the previous week, but there was no mention of Dyson Heppell. Understandably this has upset their fans.

I'm a romantic, but No, he leaves with massive thanks and respect and I think he's a stellar human, and would love for him to have a role with MFC going forward, BUT I REALLY WANT TO BEAT THE FILTH, with exactly the best team we can put on the park.

We could simultaneously acknowledge Brown, Hunter and Schache for their part in the 2021 premiership.

No chance he plays. Just when the talls are starting to gel. It would be embarrassing and undignified for him of he played. Should have retired last year and allowed the club to move on without chewing up rehab resources. Which was obviously going to happen since about Rd 10 2022.

Forever a Demon immortal and that's really cool.

Yes, and Hunter. Unfortunate given the opposition (and the current high emotions), but we need an 'admirable effort' tank next week, or we might get stuck in early draft no-man's-land again. The opportunity to get below GC and the Saints, especially with the latter's potential free agency compo, could make a significant difference to our future. Winning or losing won't change the mind of any disgruntled employees or possible future ones.

Right when our key forwards have finally started to click? Not a chance in hell

Thanks for your service BBB. I hope we find an appropriate way to recognize his contributions to the club, just not with a gifted game when we have the chance to end a frustrating season on a high note.

Nibbler is a tricky one I think - publicly recognise he is definitely going and we lose 100% of any negotiating position

What then happens if both SA clubs offer us a 4th round pick as compensation

I know the MFC deals fairly on player trades but many other clubs don’t seem to

I am sure an in-principle deal has already been made with one of the SA teams.

The club has known for a while that he's leaving, and they would not do him wrong by playing hardball. They understand why he's leaving, and they will support that move completely.

No it completely goes against playing JVR, Petty and Turner together to build cohesion in our forward line. Also with BBB involved in coaching our AFLW team he isn't really going anywhere and will continue to have a positive influence around the club.

No. He should run out with the team or have a presentation at HT. Should be aiming to beat Collingwood on Friday. Need the best side out there!

A couple of weeks back, I would've said yes.

However, if Goodwin is serious in relation to playing JVR/Turner/Petty as forwards once again next year, then every game counts in terms of building cohesion and continuity with the 3.

Therefore it would be a bit of a waste of time and player development in playing BBB to be honest.

BBB was fantastic in the last 10 weeks of the 2021 season, and genuinely helped us in the round 3 win over Port this year. But I don't think he needs a farewell game to be honest.

we are too nice like the grundy trade. Nibbler is in career best form. without our key midfielders hes been excellent stepping up. the most coachable player on our list like Brayshaw and we lost both.

We need fair conmpensation for Nibbler he'll play 100 games and some second round pick odds on will not.

We have been very good to Adelaide over the years in terms of  giving generously at the trading table.

You would think the favour would be returned in the way of the 2nd round draft pick we gave them generously for McAdam who has played 2-3 senior games for us.

Nibbler will finish top 3 in our BnF and is a very durable player, 2nd rounder for a player in his peak with 3 years of top line footy is a very fair trade.
