I do not know the bloke or the circumstances, but I would extremely be VERY surprised if this was not a really genuine situation.

I know that he has been undervalued by Demonland people (not all !!) but there has not been many better clubmen in the Club's history than Nibbler.

He deserves to go with our (sad) blessing but also with our thanks.         Life is more important than footy !!

Love the bloke. Absolute heart and soul player who has given his all. Will miss him greatly. Premiership champion 🔴🔵🏆

You must be new here. Welcome to Demonland.

Not new at all but it never ceases to amaze me.

Reading this thread, one thing hasn't been said: I expect he is a bit gutted at having to leave. I doubt if it was an easy decision to make.

This seems more benign but no less impactful with the question marks over 5, 7, and 13.

We are in a state.

I thought we had good form on managing leaks recently.

One of the issues this club needs to resolve is this right here.

Also fixing the footy stuff too. That's number one.

But leaks are definitely up there.

This. Find the leaker and sack them

Astonished at this. Only 2 years left and the excuse is family reasons? I take that back if family reasons mean someone is gravely ill, but for a new baby? Give me a break, it’s Adelaide for God’s sake

It turns out having a child several hundred kilometres from family support can be difficult - and for new parents, in ways that simply cannot be understood beforehand.

And WTF is wrong with Adelaide?

Have I mentioned it was leaked to the media?

Seriously, the family didn’t want it made public yet. Unfortunately someone has betrayed their confidence and now it’s public knowledge. The family is furious about that.

Just wanna reiterate… this is something the family has been discussing for a while. It has ZERO to do any of the current stories making the rounds.

Wow did you come up with that all on you own?

I honestly opened this thread expecting it to be a joke. Feel like there’s a bit of a domino effect going on at the moment.

Thanks WCW for the iportant context and for keeping some of us sane....I still feel devastated.

Nothing, it’s just not that far away

If ANB wants to go home then we should shake his hand and wish him well. He’s earned the right to be sent off with a minimum of fuss and our best wishes.

Not sure what you want me to say, so as usual I will just be honest.

A good clubman, a very nice guy, extremely fit, who tried his heart out and improved over the years, giving everything, but who still can turn it over at inopportune times.

Disappointing, but I accept his reason and wish him and his family well.

Interestingly he hasn’t named a club, unlike an earlier traded player, who insisted on one club limiting our trade potential.

Say nothing - it’s all good. He’s taken so long to be a B+ grader, that I’m annoyed that he’s out the door

Oh well, potentially a 2nd rounder

Not sure we’ll get much in return for him sadly. Love Nibbler

Lucky to get pick in the 40’s

He is

1- contracted

2- highly rated by clubs and brings not only leadership and a superb work ethic, but unmatched defensive abilities.

Both SA clubs would be happy to have him, and I will be shocked if we take less than a good second round pick.

If we see 'Gawn linked to New Zealand' articles then we're really in trouble

I've read a rumour that he's being chased by the Dunedin Dodos

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
