Carlton fans are worried Walsh's ongoing back issues will limit his ability to play at his best and Cerra's repeated hamstrings will limit his ability to play at his best.

Houston may find that it challenging to align Port's value on him with what draft pick/s clubs offer for him.

Carlton are far from perfect. They are just a safer bet than us right now.

Hawthorn - picks tied to Barrass, the Dogs - no need for back flankers, the Pies - ageing but high quality, no first rounder are the Melb teams I’d want to join right now.

Port won’t get what they want, but the might get close to it and if they’re far enough down the track to replacing him they might have to do the deal. If Port are serious about keeping him they might have to abandon their free agency plans very quickly.

Had a yarn with a Port supporter this morning in regard to why Port didn't contest the charge to get the 5 weeks downgraded

I believe that Port are certain that Houston is leaving and had no reason to have his suspension shortened to help out his new FC in 2025

Looks like your Port fan is wrong, Port challenged the suspension.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Houston is a Dee next year.

If he doesn't have his charge reduced at the appeals board, then I reckon you are spot on 🙃

They are contesting it?

And have great lawyers 😁

Apparently Dan Houston is good mates with Jack Silvagni FWIW.

Ultimately if Port are asking too much, interest will cool.

I also think a deal will get done and also think he will be at the Dees.

It's all just media speculation at this point to get clicks.

If Port are looking to bring in either Perryman or Cumming then they will likely need to let Houston go. I highly doubt we will be trading 2 first round picks without getting something in return.

Plenty to play out and it will probably go deep into the trade period.

If we get Houston it's guaranteed that we play Adelaide in Adelaide next year... in fact they'll probably give us the same back to back Adelaide games [censored] they did this year.

Happy with that if we gets the same results (only not to back up after 5 days again)

But maybe that was just 'rumoured' to help with negotiations and forcing us to pay more for a supposedly reluctant player.

I didn't think of that, is it something you might do Sue or something someone did to you?

Houston’s appeal failed, let’s hope Port take the long way to the GF so he doesn’t miss R1 for us.

I suspect the majority of this forum will be hoping we keep our high draft picks instead

I think it's a bit of a posture game at the moment, it seems MFC, Ess, Carl all aren't willing to meet Ports asking price trade wise, either they soften or he stays.

Port have been known to soften around this time of the year

Do people think if Port do make the GF he might want to stay.  That feeling of missing out?

Hopefully we get him, if we win this weekend and end up with pick 9-10 I'm happy giving thst up for him.

Pick 6 or 7 is overs but sometimes gotta give that up to pry someone out.

Two first rounders is laughable and just Port putting up an initial price.

we're going to have pick 5-7 before nga and academy

i'm loathe to trade it

if we can split it into two and trade one first rounder for him, fine

i think our 2025 1st rounder is 100% on the table with tairon ah-mu and kalani white set to come in

The likely 2025 crop is also a tall one, so we can go all in on mids in 2024.

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
