The young players at the MFC are unsettled? Really? They're all getting opportunities and most starting to show their wares.

I know some of them were a bit shellshocked after a big post West Coast bake, but I haven't heard anything about being unsettled...

I have also heard some parents of younger players not happy with a few things, which have occurred since the end of last season.

Nothing terminal but a few things need to be sorted out moving forward

Surely no one’s shocked by this

I would look at Jack Silvagni. I know he is coming off a knee injury but I like his versatility as a forward, midfielder and second ruck.

Absolutely agree.  I have no idea why Blues fans hate him so much, maybe they don't like his Mums ads for Chemist Warehouse or whatever it is.

Change of scene may do him good.  And possibly some moisturiser.

Apologies if this has been covered off, but doing a bit of a stocktake (happy new financial year Dees fans!) and we *should* have salary cap space in lieu of:

  • BBB
  • Brayshaw
  • Smith
  • Hunter / Billings / McAdam?
  • Laurie

The first two should be a nice chunk of change.  Surely we can go after some talent?

Billings, Mcadam and Laurie are all contracted so won’t be going anywhere. The others are likely, plus Tomlinson.

Reckon Laurie, McAdam and possibly Billings are contracted in 2025.

King has kicked 159.115 in his first 5 seasons in a terrible team with zero skilled mids. Including a 52.49 season

And people compare him to Weid?

[censored] me. watch some football  He us 202cm  he would transform our team

Question marks over his body are there but I would give up 2 first rounders any say of the week for him

Hold your horses, we can get him with one pick, maybe two only if St Kilda pays 30% of his contract

King is staying with the Saints and they are working on a new contract.

Here is the list and I’d like all of them.

Lukosius- to play back

Waterman- He and JVR 🤤

Lobb- 3rd tall and Ruck

Dylan Shiels- won’t cost much and apparently back to peak powers.

Just need a medium defender.

Howes to wing, Juddy and Rivs to play more midfield along with Windsor.

Don't mind this, but just keep Howes at half back as medium defender.

Please no Rory Lobb...

Isn't there anyone else we can bring as a second ruck? Ideally Kalany White will be with us at the end of next year.

I really don't think there are many options out there unfortunately, so who knows maybe we will have a crack with Rory Lobb....

Kalani White won't drafted until 2025 and even then will take a good 2-3 years to be a consistent performer.

Mabior Chol was the one we probably should've gone for last year, but even he is pretty inconsistent.

We had the best ruck/forward in the league.... but he got homesick

lukosious is a forward - playing him at half back is an incredible waste

Was a defender and a very very good one, with the best field kicking of all key defenders.

    MORE FIERCE by Meggs

We’re back!  Winning the last three matches has recaptured our Demon spirit and, with superstar players returning from rehab, our Season 2024 dreams are not over yet.   So come along 5.05 pm Saturday afternoon to watch this Round 9 ladder-defining match at the Field of Dreams. Expect the Tigers to be fierce, but surely the Demons will be more fierce. Playing conditions are expected to be a dry 15 degrees with a typically gusty Cranbourne wind. The media opprobrium of the ill-consi

    IN FRONT by Meggs

In this must-win clash between Melbourne 11th on the ladder and St Kilda 8th, it was the Demons who were in front all day to win in a hard-fought Round 8 clash to make it three in a row to keep theit slim finals chances alive. A good crowd of enthusiastic footy families for week 2 of Pride Round had gathered.  The full pews in the well-appointed RSEA Park grandstand provided excellent viewing.   The Saints won the toss and elected to kick to the southern end favoured by a strong 2-3 g

    THE TRADING CHRONICLES 02

Part 2: Watching grass grow by Whispering Jack Critics of test cricket (and I’m not one of them) will often claim the sport is excruciatingly boring: that following a five day match is much like watching grass grow. However, the longest form of that game has nothing on the first week of the AFL trade period when it comes to inducing sleep among those in the football public who follows this process in its somnolent moments. The week gone by has been no exception. Only two player trades

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Meggs

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised
