Surely Fullarton plays if Petty injured. If not, why did we recruit him? Did he not drop out of the selected squad through illness? If so, must be close. With Freo having two genuine ruckman he can assist Max, particularly with the calf, and spend time forward.Means that JVR can 'stay at home' up front longer. More of a genuine ruck. Open to other suggestions.  For me it's way to early for Jefferson based on one good performance.

That was Fullarton.

We have an Alice Springian or two on here and they’ve said Alice Springs isn’t anywhere near as humid as Darwin. Don’t think it’s ever been a sweat box when we’ve played in Alice.

can anyone shed light as to why Fullerton was replaced as an emergency for AFL but did not play VFL?

Yep won’t be slippery at all. It’s not in the top end. Perfect weather as some years have been a touch warm.

Rumour is illness

McAdam and Petty need to go back to the 2nds, time we bring in Jefferson and see what he is about no point waiting till it’s forced on us late in the year and then one of Sestan, Brown or Tholstrup as a fwd / mid

We did win by six goals after all.

If its a slippery kind of game we may as well hand the game Freo now. I don't have faith in the Dees executing under these conditions... I hope I'm wrong this time.

We have been bad in the past, but we were a lot better in the slippery game against Carlt, just that first quarter

Surely not Laurie, he is good at VFL then goes missing at AFL.  AMW or Kolt ahead of him for sure.

i sort of agree.

But he hasn't really had a go at it.  Like give him a run at it like we did Billings and let him settle into his role.

If we drop Tommo I will spew up.

I agree, no change.  But the clock is ticking for Petty and McAdam.

Petty looked to have turned the corner in the second half v Geelong but has barely touched the footy since.  He clunked one about 5 minutes in yesterday and I thought he might be on, sadly not.

Re McAdam I agree he needs a block of games but it's a big ask to carry two forwards who not only don't hit the scoreboard but barely touch the leather.

No changes apart from medical

petty is not fit enough,  find a problem

windsor a rest to stop burn out but take him,  great experience

who goes in is a good question.

The first quarter against Adelaide circa 2018 stands out as perfect footy conditions and we romped the Crows. Keep Clarry shaded and all is grand.

Man for a few games like that!!

Tomlinson's best game since the Pies game last year! Even got coaches votes.

OUT: Tomlinson

Should have been 9.

Ok slippery conditions police, I copy! Alice Springs is nowhere near Darwin, in the middle of the desert and played during the day = not slippery.

Wrong answers only:

sparring partner for Schache

Allow me to momentarily jump ahead one round of the pre-game thread.

According to “Footy Feeds” on the AFL site, Pies will not have Cox, Mihocek, De Goey or Richard’s for King’s Birthday. Add these names to their already extensive list

Ok, back to matters at hand…

Im a Salem potter and for now still think he leaves a lot to be desired. I loved he had a great game. He has those now and then. It’ll take more than beating up on a uncompetitive side to change my mind - but it’s just my opinion. Let’s see how he goes in the next 2.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
