Worst defensive performance I’ve seen since 2017. Just appalling. Bring mouth guards to training and see you at Port Melbourne for a pier jump

Viney and Oliver aren’t as good as they once were Max is getting too old now and we have no forwards.

Premiership window officially closed.

For all the old MFC supporters we are actually the MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB circa 1858. We always welcome our first nation players. I played in the U19's but I don't

And please can we offer a monster contract to get Harley to the MFC

Oliver has some trade value

Please don't bother responding with the normal negative leftie [censored] because I don't read it, nor respond

Our record as the other name is pathetic. Get rid of it

Sometimes you get games where one team is on the up and the other on the down. I don't quite think this is one of those but it could be if we aren't careful. Teams are getting better

Goodwin should be first in with Stafford.

I don't think your negative.

This is a game against third last.

We had the chance to be third top.

But we didn't want it.

I can't see us winning a flag.

Not because we lost but how we lost.

We have a midfield that hasn't shown up for quite a few now and without Lever apparently no backline and definitely no forwards other than Fritta and Kozzie.

It sure as heck isn't Petty, Brown or anyone else.

We will be lucky to stay in the eight.

I'm sorry but we all know it's true.

This team is shadow of 21 and even last year.

It may be time to rethink and plan ahead.

Use this season to develop the team of the future.

That includes what are we doing with our coaching staff (starting with the Ruckman who is training our forwards).

I have some hope in our yourn guns like JVR, Taj, Windsor, McVee, Kozzy, Rivers.

Maybe it's just the end of the road for our 2021 players like TMac, BBB, Petty (if his head is already in Adelaide), Salem.

We could use some young talent in the midfield. Max is also starting to look past it, and understandably so, he's carried this team since 2015.

It's gonna be a long season.

Take that  🤦 off your eyes and watch the game @whatwhat say what.

Ray Charles could see the game more clearly than you do.

Well we can all say we were watching the day our premiership window shut. It’s been a great ride but we aren’t a top 4 side. Thanks for 2021, see you all in another 57 years…

Our percentage has dropped from 121% to 113%.

This is a horrific performance and will undoubtedly raise questions.

MOST DISASTROUS LOSS SINCE 1980-81

I mean we lost 4 finals in a row. I feel like that was far worse personally.

Time to play Jeffo

Anyone.

If Petty's not in the backline he shouldn't be playing next week.

Although he looks like he'll struggle there.

He's in a serious slump and I don't think we can continue to ignore it.

How do we constantly play pathetic football against the bottom teams? There are absolutely no excuses for such a pathetic game from us. 🤬

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

2024 Player Reviews: #35 Harry Petty

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. One to watch in 2024. Date of Birth: 7 March 2003 Height: 191cm Games MFC 2024: 15 Career Total:  15 Goals MFC 2024: 0 Career Total:  0 Games CDFC 2024: 6 Goals CDFC 2024: 0

Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress.
