Anyone have any idea what's up with Ed Langdon.

He is still playing solid footy & contributing but is way off his AA form of 2020-2022.

He is a bit fumbly & disposal is a bit sloppy.

Is it the haircut or are other teams targeting him ? Would love to see him back to his best.

I thought he had been going pretty well this year Cranky.

Definitely doing better this year than the past 2

I think he’s been pretty good too.

Wings a tough spot to play, sometimes the side you’re playing on will be hardly used.

He’s still doing a lot of hard running to help the backline

Strange, I've been actively noting that Langdon is playing quite well. Useful connections, and blocking space defensively. I thought he was very important at limiting the Port dynamic midfield.

He is performing quite ok, doing more backline penetration to assist - that is a part of the team going forward. He is still running but I rather imagine that he is 'building' that ability for matches to come, working around his roles and team contributions in such a process (as we are bringing the ball forward quite differently this season). Perhaps he is not at peak fitness, just yet -  perhaps he has other instructions other than running to possession spaces and instead, running as part of a clearance combination for our improving forward delivery. If he gets 10 metres before disposal, well and good, as he in now utilising handball to teammates far more effectively and at times, accurately within the chain.

In 2021 Ed had the luxury of being the only hard running winger and at times played both wings to advantage.

With Hunter (who could only play left wing) and now Windsor, Ed seems to be restricted in his territory. It might be time to rethink his role and let him roam over a wider area.

it's simple - each year 800 players and 80 of those are turned over.

Plenty have a few good years then off the edge they go - it's just the way of life and sport.

Just saw Jaeger OMeara struggle for Freo after a dozen years in the system after a promising start.

It's elite sport.

Hope Mr Ed gets B.I.T. (back in town).

Was he AA form? Very good player, but not AA imo

I'd say the role of a winger has changed/developed over the last couple of years.

Without stats, I'd say Ed's prob still covering similar kms, but is doing more defensive link work. He's a ripper for getting into position for zone set ups, all the stuff that they love internally, but doesn't get proper recognition outside.

Our i50s have changed this year with Salo, Billings and even Windsor getting more involved.

What a find Windsor has been!

Ed Langdon was sensational in 2021 including his endurance running and ability to run all game was a huge asset.  Ed’s consistency was still on show in 2022 and 23 and not why the club faltered in finals.
He also hit the scoreboard regularly with 13-15 goals in 2021 and 2022. That dried up unfortunately in 2023 down to 6 goals.
I think an issue was he is often “caught to close to the boundary line with little room to move and only a narrow margin to work with”.  He needs to stand in another 10 metres to give himself room and options with the footy.  Small things though and Ed remains a very very good key player.

I would have thought he’s playing better this season than the second half of ‘22 through to the end of 23.

Agree Ed Langdon is building nicely in ‘24, still our best overall runner who plays his role and is not always rewarded with disposals for his efforts but that will increase as his team mates confidence in him grows.  My only criticism is with his marking around the ground and that should improve now that we have additional better kickers in the side.

And I am going ok this year thanks. Playing my role for the team.

Lingers definitely hasn't been at the level of '21 and the first half of '22 for a while, but his season so far has been a step above of what we've seen in the last 18 months.

Why can’t we have two  like him

I agree with many on this. I think he has been good this year after what was a poor year last year where I think he should have spent time at Casey. Like the whole team playing his role well when it is his turn. We appear to be using the corridor more this year and playing with less width which I like. He is still working hard off the ball and providing a good outlet when called upon. Doesn’t have the same level of disposal as Windsor so unfair to compare them there but I think Langdon has been very effective so far.
