Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I’ve genuinely never had issues with Hawks fans beyond being arrogant when they were a powerhouse side, which I don’t think is unusual for any supporter group.

However on the train ride home yesterday, a bunch of highly intoxicated meathead Hawks fans were incredibly aggressive and abusive to the Melbourne fans, including the kids around them. Dropping f bombs, threatening to beat up anyone who told them to be quiet etc.

It was disgusting and downright scary behaviour. I was relieved they got off the train soon after my dad did or I would have removed myself and waited for another train. In 2024 I would think this type of [censored] would be reserved only for the lowest of Collingwood scums, but apparently not. Haven’t felt this unsafe since the Pies final last year. Not ok!

I’m guessing that this was the Pakenham train.

It's actually very difficult to single out one because I vehemently hate all the other original VFL teams. However, I do reserve a particularly nasty place in my bowels for Collingwood, Carlton and Essendon.

( I don't mind the Swans and the Giants )

When a decision must be made though, I just can't go past the particularly appropriately named "filth".

Uncle you must've have had some sort of buffer in matches vs this lot to plonk them into your "don't mind" basket.

Some of their supporters are the most arrogant and insufferable i've experienced over the years.  Especially in finals.

Norf also have some of the worst i've encountered.

I voted Collingwont but the Hawks & Bombers were right behind.

We needed a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th vote here!

This was an interesting poll for me.

I thought it was obviously a no brainier but I'll have a crack.

No surprise on the team but....

SPOIL ALERT

I thought 52% for Pies was low.

Also nobody really likes  Essendon but I don't think they would come in second.

No words can describe my hatred for Essendon, no one comes close to them for me.

Jaded from what i've experienced this is common "entitled arrogance / bullying" behavioral traits from this scum and has been for decades going back to the 80s.

I've not only seen this at grounds/games over the years but also from an (indirect) corporate boss with Hawthorn player heritage (a Polkinghorne, didn't play) who bullied plenty he came in to contact with in my workplace.

Don't know what it is about the Hawks but they tend to be followed by some of the worst of the worst.  Old Jeff another great example.

1. Essendon. The Sheedy era, the 2000 GF, the drugs scandal and Hird's unapologetic hubris. I hope that their streak of not winning a final continues infinitum. I was there the day Whelan ironed out Hird and it is the only time in my life I have applauded a player's suffering.

2. Carlton. I grew up in the Carlton zone where they won multiple flags and we were perennial bottom 4. Their supporters are by far the most insufferable.

3. Collingwood. This is deep grained and genetic (I am 4th generation Dees) The Eddie Maguire era solidified it and it moved from legislation to constitution. Irrevocable.

Sums it up perfectly

only thing I’ll add, the Maynard incident last year and what followed will never be forgotten wrt Collingwood

Until last year's finals I would have voted Adelaide. But after that final against the pies it is a no contest. I have said it before their supporters chanting while Gus lay unconscious on ground  has branded them forever.

I hear ya Ang. I hate ‘em with every fibre of my being. I started hating them when I was 10yo and it’s only gotten deeper over the years. I hate everything about that club. I hate their players, their past-players, their supporters, the children and grandchildren of their supporters, their song, their emblem… their very existence. But you know what I hate the most about them? The fact that they elicit this level of hatred, which would never be known to me but for them. It’s too much hatred for one little person. 🤬🤬🤬

I grew up with the understanding like so may others that I supported Melbourne first and then any team playing Collingwood. And that's still the case.

However, one change is that whereas I also used to despise Collingwood supporters the most, I now have Richmond supporters on top of that particular table.

(For the avoidance of doubt, I chose Collingwood in the poll. And it is certainly a lot easier to detest them when they're actually a good football team.)

1. Geelong: It's starting to wane a bit now that Ducking Sookwood has retired and Dangerfield is slowing up, but the sheer smugness that comes out of that club, led by their coach C.Scott and the aforementioned leaders, is too much for me to handle. Them being good every year and never going away adds to it too. Can't stand them.

2. Port Adelaide: They are just so cringe and they have had a never ending cycle of hateable players, from the Tredrea and Cornes brothers era through to today. Achieved nothing of note but have that arrogance and smugness about them.

3. Essendon: They've been irrelevant for so long but the early 2000s and peptides saga hasn't been forgotten.

4. Richmond/Collingwood/Carlton: All sort of the same to me. Insufferable fans and not teams I want to see do well, but their actual teams don't bother me.

I actually feared for my life at an Essendon match. Their supporters are downright aggressive and threatening in a violent fashion. About 10 years ago I was on Richmond station waiting for a train after we beat the Pies. This nuff nuff approached me and started mouthing off at me and was right in my face. Some lovely guy came to my rescue but TBH as I do lots of boxing, trained in self defence and am quite fit plus a good head taller than this loser, I could have handled him no problem. He is lucky he didn’t land on the tracks and got taken out by the next train.

Essendon supporters scare me the most.

I’m trying to avoid voting based on traditional rivalries…I experienced the birth of one in the late 50’s/early 60’s (can you guess what it might have been? 😉).

I’ve gone for Brisbane, who I’ve had a hatred for over the past few years, and which has grown deeper in more recent times, all at the hands/mouth of mostly one individual… Dane Zorko!!!

I’m actually a little surprised that at the time of submitting my vote, I was the only one to select them.

Really depends on the era and who is in the teams at the time. Dirty, grub like players and club cultures (dare I say it) influence my dislike for teams.

1. Colon-wood. Always have a swathe of [censored] in their team at any given time.

2. Geelong and Sydney are a tie for second, much the same as Pies but to lesser degree.

3. Essendon more so now historically, talking the Sheedy era and drugs saga.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
