Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hore not taken as a Rookie.

Not sure what our pick situation is with spots, but maybe we kept a Rookie spot for him later, or someone else in Supplemental Draft,

Hard to keep up with all these different drafts.

He removed his name from the draft to sign with us as a supplemental selection once that period opens (next week I believe).

So is our list full now, or do we have another rookie spot?

I believe it will be full once Hore comes onto the Rookie list.

Having said that, I'm fairly certain we can move Melksham to the "inactive" list due to his ACL and can possibly sign another ssp player or someone at the mid-season draft.

Not sure what happens when Melksham returns, presumably Melksham is the active player and his "replacement", so to speak, becomes ineligible for AFL games.

Page 111 of the new CBA spells out details of the Inactive List and it only mentions players with season ending injuries becoming inactive and able to be replaced. No contingency for players to go on the Inactive List for a period of time before being reactivated.

Also considering we technically drafted him injured, it would be a pretty good loophole!

I'm certainly not up with all the rules.  But, I was kinda surprised Melksham wasn't just put straight on to the long-term injured list, rather than delisting him and then adding him to Rookie list.

I agree it's not a good idea. But I believe our coaches have shown repeatedly they value dominant rucks and don't value fill in rucks.

We don't have a second ruck, the list management team didn't see it as a high priority (or at least not one they could fill). Schache, Fullarton, Verall are the only options as a ruck if Gawn goes down. I can't see them putting the trust in one of those as a permanent ruck, can you?

Fullarton definitely deserves an opportunity to display his craft on the ruck at Casey.

Fullarton USA ruckman who tests up forward and can play in a key position. To say he is not a ruckman is incorrect. He has been for Lions and is regarded with some ability. He would be our first choice if Max is injured with Schache or Verrall second and third.

We are  not as lightning as you have stated so rest easy Deanox.

Because once Melksham recovers then he'll come off the LTI list and goes back on to the senior list. Drafting him as a rookie means that he will be on the rookie list once he recovers.

There’s either no such thing as the Long Term Injury list these days or if there is there’s no provision for it to impact list management by adding other players.

The only provision for adding extra rookies is the Inactive List, which requires players to either retire or be ruled out for the season.

In a cut throat world under these conditions we’d be better off not even having Melk on the list at all. Potentially drafting a different rookie, then redrafting Melk in the mid season draft if we get a vacancy to fill.

I wonder if he will be assisting with the coaching in some way and this likely last year is the transition to that.

I think he will. And I’m not disappointed in him being on the list.

Just a vagary of the system that you get to replace guys who are out for the year but you don’t get to cover guys who miss the first half or even more.

I see Collingwood have invited 204cm ex Port Adelaide ruckman Brynn Teakle down for a chance to trial with them over the summer for a spot on their rookie list.

You would think this would have made far more sense from a list perspective.

Of course out of all teams it had to be Collingwood with the smart list decision here.....

I have very little knowledge of Martin Hore, so have absolutely nothing against him, but can some in the know please enlighten me as to just what he offers, what gap he fills, on our current list?  Thanks.

Reminds me of Hibbo in some ways, fearless!

But taller and slower.

I can't get my head around this selection. It seems the FD must have no confidence in replacements for May or Lever from within the current list.

A very poor man’s Hibbo IMO.

The thought of Marty being an AA like Hibbo is a fantasy.

I reckon he is not good enough or strong enough for a key position and not quick ( pacy ) enough or clever enough to mind small and clever half forwards.

His best attribute is his marking and is an interceptor but not a replacement for Lever either.

Has won 2 Cwood VFL B and F and I think finished 2nd in ours at Casey one year.

Is 28 and we really should be looking at a younger player for halfback as we already have Bowser Rivers Salem McVee Joel Smith Disco Turner and even Woey who can play there at a higher level Ibelieve.

Lookslike Marty will train with us and try to join on the PSSP list before the season starts.

Played about 20 games over 3/4 seasons from 2019 to  2021 and mostly in2019 he played 14 I think when we had all the players carrying pre season and injuries from 2018.

Did get one injury which prevented him from having a good go at it but didn’t seriously challenge our best in 2021.

Could really be called a List clogger at this stage of his career no matter how he plays in my opinion he should not be able to replace the players above unless they are all injured.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
