I couldn’t t make head nor tail (or ever drum a tale) of those attribute graphics.  Can you or praha elaborate, or is it actually as meaningless as it was to my old brain?

Unfortunately.

So much time....

For those who may be unaware, if you want to see Fullarton in action, click on VFL app, go to round 22 and you will see Brisbane v. Casey, with Fullarton in team.

Played well. As did Grundy.

i wonder if two-metre-tom could be turned into a useful forward?

watching his highlights on the mfc site, he sems a good mark and goal kick \

i suppose time will tell

The reason we got him is because he’s a very good forward at VFL level and the hope is he’s not awful forward at AFL level. Most forward/rucks are ordinary up forward so the bar is low. Contest, be mobile, don’t get in the way of your own markers.

Im as intrigued by whether he can hold up in the ruck. He’s never been tried as a starting ruck. He’ll likely struggle in hit outs and won’t be a dominant marking target around the ground but he could provide some much needed athleticism at stoppages.

Fullarton and Verrall are almost clones in terms of height and weight.

Will has less time in the system and was interrupted by injury in 2023 - I still hold hopes for him developing into a good AFL footballer.

Both have the best ruck in the business to learn from - hopefully one or both put in a very big summer and surprise us all.

Neither are really big enough to ruck against the really big boys at AFL level IMO but at least they can jump off the ground and capable at marking the ball.

It's fortunate El Niño is returning (apparently...). Improves the chances of our Gosch's/Casey team retaining this Sunshine Coast boy.

He'll surprise. Never underestimate the lure of wanting to prove others wrong. On that basis alone, I'm happy to back the kid in.

“Versatile tall who can play at both ends”

maybe he’s a defensive option as well?

with petty fwd I still like a tall in defence with May Lever

Tommo says ‘Hi’.

Tim Lamb's modest expectations:

"As the year sort of rolled on we thought we might need some backup in that [forward] area of the ground."

True but at 194cm he has to mind 200cm opponents and was not favoured much by selectors

I think it time we had some bigger better key defenders

Agree.

Max Gawn spent his juniors as a fwd/ruck from what I recall and turned out a pretty decient ruck.

Granted Tom doesn't quite have as big a frame at this point and they are big boots to fill, but I'm more interested in Tom's potential to be a short term backup ruck and medium term full time ruck than a forward.   With Gawn's age compared to that of big O and Joey, I think he's got more chance of that happening than at Brisbane, which I'm guessing is why he asked to be traded.

Cheap back up, will be more than useful at Casey and for the rest who knows. You always hope that these kind of trades turn into something even though on evidence that's not usually the case. At least he has time on his side.

Spend a couple of years compiling a set of learnings he can pass on to his 200cm, SE Queensland successor, the next #34.

Not me TR-A I am looking forward to Tom being given the opportunity to provide a chop out for Max and spending a lot of time in our fwd 50 and rotating off the bench to provide some height, pace and goal kicking ability that we are currently lacking. We actually need to harness his 2023 VFL form  (which is better than any of our youngsters coming through) and transition him into an AFL player. Good luck Tom Fullarton you need to find a way.

It will be interesting what jumper number they give to Tom Fullarton?

At the moment there are plenty to choose from. With the options being; #4, #6, #14, #23, #27, #34, #39, #44, #46, #47, #48 and #49.

Josh Jenkins has been the first media bloke to actually talk up Fullerton.

Said he’d be a really good fit for the 85/15 forward- ruck role.

If Fullerton’s good enough to get a consistent game he’ll allow JVR to focus as a full time forward to partner up with Petty.

Not sure if he will struggle with hit outs dee as he does have a Bball background which will help. Hopefully with a preseason training under Gawn he could be useful.

Time will tell.

At a guess...

McAdam #23

Fullarton #27

Billings #14

ND 6 #4

ND 11 #6

Me, too, Deez. My comment was about a minimum outcome 😊

It is becoming apparent we've brought in Fullerton to cover the loss of Jordan.....
