Petty is worth so much more than Thilthorpe. Petty has shown he is a very capable KPP at both ends, Thilthorpe is struggling to be a half decent KPF

Kane Cornes is surely taking the [censored] suggesting a straight swap for Thilthorpe. Thilthorpe and pick 10 more like

Apologies for giving Cornes oxygen.

'Like for like'. Would it be? In football terms for one (@Demon Disciple's response noted) but also:

The player's respective desires to move (if any)?

Does HP still get the $3.4m? And what contract for RT?

Just because there's a lure doesn't mean it will catch anything.

As a fisherman who mostly uses lures this is 100% correct 😂

I am firmly is the keep Petty camp but I'm guessing it comes down to how highly JT rated Thilthorpe is his draft year.

Petty has to be the most underrated player in the competition!

Any Petty trade significantly reduces our current window while Max and May are still elite AFL players. I would only consider Thilthorpe plus all their first rounders.

And McAddam, at the very least.

Would you pay Harry Petty who is currently recovering from a very serious foot injury 800-900k a year?

I rate the kid, but no way in the world i'd be spending that sort of money on him

A 4 - 5 year deal at $650-700k.would be fair value IMO. He is an excellent key defender entering his prime over the next few years and has demonstrated he is very capable as a key forward. Look at what Essendon paid for Ben McKay.  The $800k that Adelaide are supposedly offering includes a premium to entice him out of an environment he is happy in - Roos once said it costs 20% more to trade in a player than to retain one.

On a side note I like that Tom Morris is reporting Petty's lure to his boarding school 'home'. The whole idea of boarding school is somewere to stay while you study away from home. As some have pointed out here he is not from Adelaide but South Australia.

We won't trade Petty. Hold him to his contract and start negotiations on a great extension next year.

If it doesn't work out then we've got a year to make alternative plans.

He has 2 years to run so if he wants to go to the Crows at the end of next year they still have to pay up big for a contracted player.

Basically values Petty as Future 2nd and McAdam to us. Every other club says yes because Melbourne loses out so badly in this deal. Thilthorpe, pick 10 and McAdams to be in the conversation for Petty.

Petty is a great player and would love to keep him at the Dees.
However I think we are crazy not to consider options given he may want to leave at the end of his contract anyway.

I would consider a trade along the lines of:

Thilthorpe or Fogarty, 10 and McAdam

for Petty and a Future 2nd

yes it’s overs for Petty, but they are offering him 1 mil 2 years out from a contract.

Thilthorpe or Fogarty are young enough and will develop really well with JVR. mcAdam comes across with another player which may assist in forward connection earlier, and we get another first rounder to throw at Eagles for Reid.

We can cover petty down back with Disco.

Great deal for West Coast assuming they get the player they wanted with their first pick regardless of pick 1 or pick 4.

Pick 6 =outside mid who can kick

Pick 11  Sullivan

Keep Petty plus Fullerton

I wouldnt put all into pick 1

Petty must stay at Melbourne. Adelaide can go and get stuffed. As for Mcadam he is about as reliable as passed wind in a pickle bottle.

agree about mcadam. he's inconsequential

could pickup a mcadam type from the vfl easily

3rd rounder or go jump, crows

Disagree covering Petty.

His is a super star in the making if his body holds up better.

Plus I know he's only played a few games fwd but ultimately that's his best role and we would struggle to find a replacement for him there.

We have no serviceable tall feds apart from him. Maybe Smith but he's not super tall or as good.

Hope we  can keep him.

Stuff McAdam. Just another overrated [censored] in the money fueled trade period. Stuff the crows. I dont want any of them playing in our jumper( except Tex).

Hey crows!!!  wanna give us Tex!

We'll give you Spargo Chandler and a future 2nd round pick.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
