Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Becoming a 'big club' won't necessarily see us avoid trips down to KP. We'll still need to become bigger than at least some of the existing 'big' Victorian clubs and push them down the pecking order.

You can probably guarantee that each of Footscray, North and St Kilda will be playing down there for the foreseeable future. Then there's us. Now that Carlton are up and about again we should probably be setting our sights on overtaking Hawthorn. A win for us would be Geelong choosing to host their Easter Monday game at KP every second year with their new increased capacity.

Query:

is there a list/table anywhere online that summarises the longest streaks of ‘unfair’ / biased game schedules?

eg Dees at Kardinia Park

should we start a thread listing them? (An off season project perhaps).

Maybe by spreading the word on these lopsided fixtures we can point out their absurdity and effect change.

Geelong have a 9/2 split of GMHBA to MCG games. I reckon a Carlton, Richmond, Essendon or Hawthorn may draw the short straw next year to the 40,000 seat stadium given Collingwood simply won’t he fixtured there.

Next year Hawthorn are hosting Geelong at the G on Easter Monday. There is no rule that states that Geelong can’t host Hawthorn at GMHBA in the return game should they meet twice.

There was a list on some thread earlier in the year and we were clearly the team to travel there most, by a fair margin.   I think it was Collingwood and maybe Carlton / Richmond who went only once in 20+ years.  I am sure some tech guru can find it somewhere.

Will likely strike out on most of those. Maybe Essendonx2 but we did bomb out in the finals again.

Id play dees against that lot in R1 not the Bulldogs.

Will Melb get a rest from playing at the Gabba and Norff in Tas.? Wishful thinking.

We are always in the wings when the fixture needs to be plugged somewhere. Same old venues and travel every year.

Honestly would rather play one of the two SA teams than another Victorian side there

At least we can just treat it like another away game instead of the debacle that was the West Coast into Essendon game last year where we went Melb-Perth-Melb-Adelaide within a week

Brace for impact. This could be the start of a shocking fixture.

What are the odds we play on Saturday or Fridaythe week before and only get 4or 5 days off.

Why isnt reigning premiers Collingwood playing Adelaide in this so called blockbuster round?

Stupid question.

Not ideal that us and Essendon are the only genuine away teams in Gather Round.

However Carlton and Dogs drew the short straw last year and another two clubs will draw the short straw in 2025.

And it’s not as if playing a neutral game against Essendon last year did us any favours as we put in our softest performance of the year that day. We might come in with a different mindset knowing the challenge ahead of playing Adelaide at AO.

That was on the club and/or the players for coming home after our Perth game and then flying back to Adelaide the following week, rather then spending the week in Adelaide to reduce travel stress.

The Dogs spent an entire week in Perth after Gather round to reduce travel and ended up putting in one of their best performances of the year against Freo at Optus.

Hopefully lessons are learnt if we’re back to back travelling before or after Gather Round.

Not sure its been mentioned but one of our major sponsor Jaguar will no longer be continuing in 2024.

I've just been told this from a contact who has input in the manufacturering of our guernseys.

Hertz will take on the back of the gurnsey major sponsorship.

Club looking for Short sponsorship to replace Hertz.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
