Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

G'day Lads,

First time poster here due to being sick of BF

My opinions on last night:

  • Our Forward structure has been appalling for years now.
  • We are terribly slow; how many times did Hill and McStay stroll into the 50 unattended?
  • TMac is cooked and if he gets another game then Goody is more delusional than i imagined.
  • Salem was non-existent.
  • Viney looked rattled after the Brayshaw incident, tried to raise the flag but was met with an even angrier Maynard and Pies Crowd.
  • Hibberd was our best IMO, kept Elliott goalless and quiet.

My thoughts on next week v Blues/Swans:

  • Do we play Grundy and give more forward time to Max?
  • Tomlinson forward?
  • Schache back up Ruck?

Not sure where we go from here as we have struggled against the Blues and Swans

If nothing else, last night vindicated my pure, sheer unadulterated hatred for the filth.  I can handle losing a match, although that was one we shouldn't have lost (I maintain it was lost the moment Maynard went through Gus), but what I can't get over is the despicable crowd behaviour.  The cheersquad doing the Collingwood chant as Gus is stretchered off.  The filth cheering every time Maynard went near the ball.  The hoards of ferals that descented on our cheer squad baying for blood at the end of the game.  Hearing about a friend of mine (not in the cheer squad) being king hit and then descened upon by three filthy thugs after she called them out for cheering Maynard, leaving her bloodied and bruised, and the security doing stuff all about it.  The group of thugs tormenting a child outside the ground at the end of the game, leaving this kid in tears, terrified.

I hate them.

Security.. at the MCG..  non existent.

I once saw two older ladies removed by one suit & 2 security guys.

May have been caught on camera dosing up their lattes from a flask.

Any serious bad behaviour they don't want to know.

Can’t see jvr getting off. The coaches need to cook up something totally different cos bombing it on top of fritsch tmac and Grundy/max will not work. Can someone anyone deliver a pass to our forwards advantage. Our f50 plan is just brain dead.

We got punched up, pure and simple

If we played that hard, contested, uncompromising footy, we'd be lauding the players

Full credit to the Pies

Shades of 2000 GF where we had the crafggdfgppola punched out of us

Agree with this. I don't hate Collingwood at all...I absolutely admire the way they give 100% all the time. There are no ifs or buts for them. There is a rarely a feeling of excuses like 'yeah but if we had Nick Daicos playing we would have been better'. Such great value for their fans.

I actually believe their list right now is bog ordinary yet here we are likely seeing them in another GF. Unbelievable. Compared to us with one of the most dominant midfields of the last 25 years and potentially about to lose a 4th final on the trot.

Welcome to DL mate.

A place of relative calm compared to where you grew sick of.

Agree on McStay and Hill being unaccounted too many times. An uncharacteristic blight on our otherwise solid defensive structure.

Tomlinson up forward is far too radical an experiment for a semi final, as is Schache in the ruck.

For mine, Smith takes JVR’s spot. Tomlinson takes his.

And for the love of god if we go down on Friday can we go down fighting. Make our opponents win the game. Dont gift it to them. Loosen the hand break and play with some verve. Don’t walk off the G with the same old regrets. Our finals performances last year and last night have been frustrating as hell. All sweat and zero inspiration.

come on dees. We’ll cheer you to the rafters. Give it everything you have. No regrets.

When we tried to do that it was very obvious and too slow and they just intercepted it.  Simply lack of speed to get into the fwd line and then too shallow. hence no pressure.  Lastly we are all flying again with no crumbers.

If you told me on gameday that Elliott, Daicos and De Goey would have no impact at all and we still lose, i would say your mentally ill

Knowing Hill and McStay kicked 5 between them is sickening to realise today.

Do we play Trac as a forward?

What an absolutely frustrating game last night if the rain and listening to a very large and noisy bunch of feral morons wasn’t bad enough our boys did everything in their power to lose such a critically important game. My god we had a miserable 23 shots on goal from nearly 70 inside fifties to their 15 shots from 37. They manage 9.6 to our miserable 7.11 and 5 oof how is that even possible. We were in M9 surrounded by friendly Dee supporters with Demon Army just to our right, the noise in the last was off the charts, we were so dominant in the last 15 minutes but wasted opportunity after opportunity. Then when the siren went we had to endure all the idiots up on L2 in our premium seats waving their fists at us and jeering us like they had won by 20 goals when in fact we should have beat them and shut their stupid faces up. We fumed all the way back to Doreen, one thing is for sure I would love to meet this mob in a Grand Final but we may have lost our opportunity to do so.😢😪❤️💙

My take on the Maynard bump is that it was similar to the Patrick Cripps bump on Ah Chee last year, where Cripps left the ground initially to contest in a football action but then bumped him in the head. I don't think it was clear cut that Maynard should be suspended but the AFL will surely want to see him suspended and I think the tribunal will say it was accidental and let him off (particularly because it is Collingwood and finals).

based on the closing of the loophole after the Cripps incident, they can't.

Maynard's words came back to bit him when he said during the week about wanting to hurt our players.

But he and Angus are actually good mates and played under 18s together. So I'm sure he won't be feeling all that great. Well he should feel awful

If I was Gus and I’d be filthy with him, old friend or not. Maynard ruined his finals. I know where I’d tell Maynard to go if he called with his apology

We are good enough with a fit list. Unfortunately Petty going down and then to a lesser extent Melksham doomed us.

True,

Our execution in the forward half is woeful, it's hard to be optimistic after that.

Even though i know it was tough conditions, Collingwood played well and defended excellently, no one stood up. Koz was our closest but great teams have those great players who stand up when needed, and we didn't have that last night.

Really disappointing.

Technically we can still meet them in the GF mate

Got to get over some tough teams who play well against us first (Swans/Blues, Lions at the Gabba)

Gotta make a statement on Friday night. Consecutive straight sets exits and we’ll be labelled chokers. Rightly imo.

what have you got dees. It’s do or die. Max led the way last night but not enough followed. I’m very disappointed in some senior players. I expect a response.

Yep, we'd be the new Port from the 2000s.

I don't want to talk about the footy last night but about the absolutley vile behaviour of the Collingwood supporters last night.

We sat in N50 in the General Public about 5 rows from the back. There were a seething group of Collingwood supporters about 5 deep behind the rail. In front of them was a young Demon supporting family (Dad and three young kids). What those ferals subjected them to was disgusting. The police directed by the poor MCC attendant attempted to say something but it continued. At half time the Dad stood up and said something back and thankfully it didn't escalate from there when the police walked over again. The poor man could not move anywhere as there no seats to move to.

At the end of the game with about a minute left two Collingwood supporters stood up in front of us so we couldn't see. I just touched the man on his back and motioned him to sit down, we couldn't see. It was so loud I couldn't say anything. His retort back to me was " you've lost so what do you f.....n care"  with a finger and continued to stand up.

So the siren goes all the Melbourne supporters trudged out, I get to the top of the stairs and there is a woman (Collingwood supporter) with a beer can standing there pointing her fingers at this 14 year old who was on the verge of tears " did you hear what this f..n c said to me". He was part of the family that had felt the brunt of vile behaviour of the mob behind them. I grabbed him as he had become separated from his family and dragged him away. His Dad came up to me absolutely shaken.

I have woken up this morning not thinking about the actual game but wondering if I have been sheltered sitting in the MCC area. I dont think so. I have never been subjected to or seen this kind of vile behaviour before but it makes me so happy that I am a Melbourne supporter.

I know some on here will say that there are bad supporters in any team but this level was unbelievable.

Thanks for listening🥲

Long Suffering ~ I had a similar experience but obviously when young kids are affected it is 1000 times worse.

I had the loudest, foul mouthed, revolting family of Pies supporters sitting behind me and in front of me. I got thumped in the back of the head every time this big oaf jumped out of his seat. The idiots in front of me kept standing up and spilling beer everywhere. I came home smelling like a brewery.

I spoke to the security man in my area who looked about 14 and he suggested I find somewhere else to sit as there was not much he could do.

In the end I left my seat and went and sat downstairs and watched the rest of the game on the screen. This brain dead [censored] was cheering Maynard like he was some sort of God and chanting ‘Collingwood’ as poor Gus was lying unresponsive on the ground. He thought it was a hoot that we had lost a player so early in the match.

After last night I made a pact with myself that I am never going to a match that involves Collingwood. This isn’t the first time I’ve had an unpleasant encounter at a Pies match but I have decided never again.

And great players/teams kick straight when it counts.
We've got 3 forwards I'm reasonably confident they can kick a goal with a set shot.
Petty, JVR and Melksham.
Petty and Melk weren't there and JVR only gets it a couple times a game.

Ever-one else including Fritta I'd rather not look they're kicking is so flakey.

I think the technicality which caused Cripps to get off was on a point of law. I am not sure that this is relevant here.

https://au.sports.yahoo.com/afl-makes-major-change-after-patrick-cripps-brownlow-medal-controversy-022211787.html

The AFL has made a suite of changes to the Tribunal process to eliminate 'technicalities' of the sort which allowed Carlton's Patrick Cripps to win last year's Brownlow Medal. The Blues were able top successfully overturn a two-match ban issued over a rough conduct charge over what essentially was an error of law.

Cripps, who had fronted the Tribunal on a rough conduct charge over a round 21 incident involving Brisbane's Callum Ah Chee, was initially handed a two-match ban before it was subsequently overturned following a marathon hearing at the Appeals Board. Cripps was ultimately let off the hook when the Appeals Board ruled the findings of the jury were unreasonable, due to the term 'bump' being referenced in the verdict, but not when Cripps or his counsel were addressed.

The van Rooyen case earlier this year was also similar in that it was a head knock caused in a football act.

In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
