Assuming that we finish 3rd or 4th. Do we want to play Brisbane away or Collingwood at the MCG? Of course getting up to second would be perfect and that's not out of the question. I would prefer Collingwood on the G. What do others think?

If we finish 3rd I doubt we will play Brisbane away unless Port are docked premiership points for concussion-gate, we lose to Carlton and Brisbane win all of their remaining matches.

We are finishing second. Port or Brisbane at the G will be fine.

Any team, anywhere, anytime

Brisbane don’t lose at the GABBA.

Unless it's a prelim

A lot to play out... but I think the Giants will make the prelim the way they are going.  Wouldn't want to face them if that happened!

Love to see them upset the Pies in a prelim though, they will have spent all their tickets just to do that. Like in 2019. Would be a grand final opponent we could kick 20+ goals on.

They’re not beating us in a Prelim at the G, not now, not ever

My preference is to finish second and play home finals at the G. And i think we will.

Really? I’d much prefer to beat Port, Brisbane and Collingwood at the G this September. Bring it on I say

Our best beats anyone

My preference is that we win the quarter final by 15 goals, the Prelim by 20, and then I get a shock mid grand final week phone call from Goody, whose been covertly studying my comments on Demonland, and wants my football nous in the box for the big dance.

Then when accepting his Jock McHale medal Simon says he couldn’t do it without me, and gestures me on stage, where I politely decline the medal (I’m not a narcissist), thank all involved, and then turn to Basil Zempilas (whose inexplicably been flown in to MC the event) and scream at him ‘Now for [censored] sake Basil, let Simon say a few words’ before ushering Goody up to the microphone to FINALLY have his moment.

That’s my preference.

My dream run would be if we finished second.

QF: Port @ the MCG. Get the monkey off the back of losing our last two finals with a dominant win over Port.

PF: Collingwood @ the MCG. My reasoning for this is that it’d be hilarious if they lost their first final and I’d rather play them in a prelim than in a GF.

GF: Brisbane @ the MCG. Much larger home ground advantage and crowd advantage as opposed to playing Collingwood who will dominate ticket sales and will be insufferable. I also think Brisbane is a team that would [censored] the bed in a GF.

You had me until you said you could shut Basil up  😏

Brisbane at the Gabba is best avoided. I would back Melbourne against any other Top 4 opponents at the MCG.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
