Disappointing to see James Jordon leave.

But I totally understand his situation. He wants to play more midfielder minutes for an AFL Club.

Greatful of all he did as a Demon and as a substitute who unfortunately never got onto the ground in the Grand Final for the 2021 AFL Premiership. That was a shame. But at least he received a Premiership Medallion!

Definitely a handy player for us!

I wish "JJ" all the best for the future (except against the Demons) at his new home over at the Swans.

I hope no melbourne supporter boos him next year. JJ has been a good player for us and dueto our elite midfield it was always  going to be hard for him to grab a spot.

So I hope he gets his opportunity at sydney and goes well for them.

Best of luck JJ. You'll always be a demon with that premiership medal.

Struggle to see how he fits into Sydney's midfield though. Feel he will still be a fringe player there.

Just an old man’s quirk, but I’ve always had a soft spot for Demons number 23.

Some of my favorites -  players who had a bit of X factor or were fan favorites in their day:

Geoff Tunbridge

Kelly O’Donnell

James McDonald

Kevin Dyson

and of course Clarko when he was with us.

James Jordon certainly fits the enigma of number 23. Will be the only player ever in V/AFL to win a premiership without setting foot on the ground in the Grand Final.

At least Peter McLean 1964 and Cameron Mooney in 1999.

Are Sydney getting another 80% extra with COLA? Rumoured to be splashing cash and have a star studded team. Understand Bud left, but wow

Great club man and servant.

Never met him but gave the impression he was a very humble, hard working chap.

Unlucky not to get on the park in the GF but then again so was chunk.

Good luck at the Swans and hope he gets to play a few finals (preferably not against us).

29 disps (23 kicks 6 hballs), 8 marks and a goal in Rd 13 26-pt loss to Collingwood at the MCG (13 Jun 2022)

Couldnt do it every week but was a great game

Its a shame but he was a momentum killer with us Swans may use him differently

Agreed, he shouldn’t get booed. Can’t blame the guy for seeking better opportunities.

And given some MFC supporters were actively cheering on Luke Jackson in our loss to Fremantle last year, I don’t think there’ll be any booing issues for JJ.

Yes right now JJ was only depth, but in a few years he may not have been.  I'm beginning to think that we need to do more to keep players in his age demographic to sustain the team in the years we will be comming to soon when the Viney, Tracs and Brayshaw, Langdon, Hunter etc cohort start to fall away.  Similarly players like Bedford.  And great teams need good depth.

I partially understand Jordan's reason to move, but when he's going to a club where the midfield will be similarly strong to ours, that becomes a little less understandable.

I'd actually be inclined to boo him and Bedford in the future.

They saved $12m missing out on Naughton.

I will watch Jimmy the kid Jordon have 28 touches a game in his sleep in the well oiled machine that is the Sydney Swom then flick over to watch Sparrow's 14 touches and six fumbles a week thinking what could have been

It wouldn't surprise to find that JJ ends up in the same position he was in at the Dees but paying 10-20% more per month on his digs for the privilege.

He's not going to be that great of a loss nor can I see him being in their best 22.

They've got some good talent coming through their midfield and I don't know where he fits amongst all that.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
