Fwd line is a mess, Gawn Grundy is currently failing & over investing in rucks when we need feds, Expecting a 20 yo Jvr $ smith to kick our goals … any chance the afl will allow us to play @ home in the next decade???

If I was the president I’d be asking our football department what experienced forward line coach we need to bring in. Things have to change in the footy department I think. Our forward line connection has been a problem in 4 of the last 5 seasons - yet we have one of the best midfields.

We need someone who values skill and forward craft, as it’ll put pressure on the rest of the football department to buy into the value of execution. We have to compete way too hard to score.

Id say the gawn dropped mark was more so

Gawn 1 mark for the game in the last minute of play. Worst game from him in a long time.

We need to be smarter going fwd our key fwds are barely capable of halving a contest let alone wining it. Giving our smalls no chance to crumb a goal. No way do we run the table, top 2 is now out of the question and top 4 is really on the line, we can probably only afford to loose 2 more from here if we want to hold onto the double chance

Stafford seriously needs to go at years end. Forward line has been shocking recently, and problems have been ignored or worse not even recognised for the better part of a year.

Really pathetic performance right from the moment our captain kicked the ball backwards off the side of the boot on the first kick of the night. Unfortunately this wasn’t Max’s worst moment, not getting to the first kick in and then dropping an easy chest mark.

Langdon spent the night slipping over or getting beaten to the ball.  He needs a pair of screw ins.

Brayshaw was terrible by foot.

Petracca needs to be more aggressive when getting scragged.

Spargo is too small and slow.

ANB needs to stop being Hershell Gibbs.

Rivers, Viney, McVee, Hunter and Pig can hold their heads up.

Goodwin got destroyed with our poor preparation and tactics on the skinny ground.

The umpiring was terrible.

I give the performance 2/10.

What did Fritsch do? I didn't think there was a careless or dangerous tackle

Caught him cold would have got the free and then threw him to the ground and they got the goal.

Is it me or are we just plan boring to watch. Ball movement is so slow and predictable. Opposition teams have worked out how to take Max out of the play. Our midfielders don’t know how to pass to our forwards and our forwards don’t know how to block, make space for each other and lead.

Our inability to play wet weather footy never ceases to amaze me.

Opportunity lost: Cameron off, a 21-21 free-kick count and conditions that favoured a contested slugfest. Should have ended their season, instead we’ve kick started it.

Thought 7 points was a handy lead in the conditions. Umpires let them hold, try to crash through tackles all night. Still last quarter was terrible.

Lost at selection. Jordan should never be selected again – he's not up to it. Petty should have been selected forward. Tomlinson should have stayed in the team.

Couldn’t hit a target but couldn’t find a spot for Bowey in the side. I literally do not understand why we are being so cute with the team setup

All bloody season Goodwin said we wanted Petty tried forward. He has a great game against the Hawks and gets injured. Tomlinson comes in and plays a pivotal role and we have our best defensive fortnight of the season.
Petty is declared fit and is immediately sent back at the expense of Tomlinson, leaving Joel Smith and a fetus to play on Tom Stewart.
The mind boggles.

Melbourne has finished 1st, 2nd, and is 3rd 14 rounds into another year.

And yet Goodwin is never recognised for his coaching or as being one of the best coaches in the league.

Tonight is a prime example of why.

There is no “learnings” from tonight. The game was a carbon copy of the game we lost in Geelong last year.

Scrag Max and he drops his head

Sweat on turnover as Melbourne fumble

Switch when going forward

Yeh was a bad game for him, but grundy looked pretty good.  In the wet weather surely you plonk gawn 10m out from goal and get the Smalls around him.  Leave Grundy in the ruck

That last quarter would want to be loading related.

[censored] putrid.

Smashed at the contest and kicking it down 44's throat at will.

This, Geelong showed the way with territory gain when the ball was slippery. Lost count of how many cute handballs to teammates already underpressure that resulted in a turnover or ballup.

WOW NEVER SAW THIS COMING.

Geelong coming off their worst form in 20 years and they still massacred us.

Fast moving towards another wasted season...  Maybe in 5-7 years we'll get the forward efficiency situation sorted out?  Cursed with a poorly skilled team unfortunately.. great to see classic Bumbling Brayshaw action out there.

I know ANB gives a lot to our game plan with his running but he’s the ultimate ‘almost’ man.

Almost has a decent game, almost kicks a goal, almost picks the ball up, almost gets rid of the ball in a tackle, almost takes a mark.
