I wonder if there are any learnings from tonight?

Maybe that our forward line is freaking useless.

5 goals from 7 entries on a night where no-one can hit a cows [censored] with a banjo. You could not make this up

Pathetic. Absolutely [censored] pathetic.

Undoubtedly the worst [censored] game we have played in years.

why do we always save them for geelong

He was obviously underdone and it was an obvious error by the club to drop Tomlinson for him. Everyone called it before the ball was bounced and it’s played out that way. Petty’s 2023 as a whole has been a major disappointment. Was poor up forward but then struggled in defense where he’s previously excelled.

Petty is too slow to play in defence. Should never play in defence.

A pathetic quarter of footy all round. Very poor indeed. How can we string good games of footy together, when we can’t even string quarters of footy together

So glad that we dropped Tomlinson so Petty can play back so we take 0 marks inside 50. Genius.

It is unacceptable to lose this match tonight let's see what they have in them in the last 10 minutes

Holding to Rivers 15m out?? play on.

[censored] you umpires

It has got worse as the game goes on. Looks to be instruction.

How have Geelong been able to get so many back in defence all night.

Poor game from Max.

Good game by Viney but not sighted in the last 10.

Chandler,  Jordan, soargo and anb time for the twos.

Shut down Fritta and we can't score.

So missing Oliver.

Now t's about %.

Game over.

Thanks Nibbler you absolute potato 🥔

You'd have to think about dropping him after this

Scott has said tackle non stop and scrag non stop and he has out coached us simply by that.

Look forward to next years game at Geelong.

Out coached, outplayed, outworked. Imagine thinking that Smith, Van Rooyen and Gawn is a finals standard forward line, or that Spargo is a worthy sub option, or that our goal kicking is not a massive issue.

Terrible decision to flirt with form like that and shows the players form won't be rewarded

We lost this game when we got off the bus. Goodwin selecting Petty over Tomlinson is a joke.

Spare me mate! Tomlinson is a C grader at best

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
