Where do you start?

Letting Butters run around with zero pressure on him was seriously mind boggling.

This is already on top of our so called A grade midfield getting absolutely smashed in the clearences. Some serious questions and heat needs to go Adem Yze. They had a lumbering ruckman vs two A graders and yet simply couldn't use that to our advantage. Still utterly gobsmacked by that.

What the hell has happened to Langdon? He's seriously one of the softest players in the league. Needed him to throw himself at that last contest inside our forward 50 and just bring the ball to ground. Refused to bend over and pick up a ground ball or lay a body when it was his turn to go. He's a shadow of himself.

Where was Kozzie? Signs his contract and hasn't done anything since? No forward half pressure or run down tackles. They waltzed it out way too easily and when we genuinely needed a spark in the last he was MIA.

What was up with our kick outs? It got so damn predictable that Port flooded all their numbers because they knew every kick would go to thr left side. Once it was kicked there they completely out numbered us around the contest.

JVR needs a genuine spray. Gave away two clumsy free kicks inside their forward 50 which resulted in a goal. They won by a [censored] goal. Seriously kid, pull your head in.

Tmac was absolutely awful.

Brayshaw got shown up for his poor fitness in the midfield and got genuinely exposed as a slow plodder. Butters, Drew and Wines absolutely ran rings around him. They shifted him down back when Bowey went down and he was non existent once again.

So disappointing. When Rivers gave away that free right on the 3 quarter time siren I knew that would spark them. We just need to hold that lead.

Thought Steven May had a great game as did Rivers as well. Not much after that.

Dont throw the baby out with the bath water, honestly we were within 2 goals most of the night, where the crowd influence sooooo many decisions. I beleive kicking 7 goals in that [censored] weather, we were not disgraced, and hang your head those that even suggest our players didnt have a real dip

Please. One was a high tackle in the rain when he is coached to be strong at the contest - completely understandable.

I'll assume the other that you're referring to is the 'high contact' free that he gave away when he pushed someone in the chest and they grabbed their chin and went down like they'd been shot.

How much did we lose by again? Oh, that goal that he gave up?

Defend him all you want, but he made 2 horrible errors, one off the ball (which is undisciplined), and one where he didn’t tackle properly.

JVR needs a spell.  Ran under every footy repeatedly, reckless and stupid free kicks given away.  Costly!

Gawn no impact, small forwards unseen in what should have suited them more than the talls.

Petracca obviously being managed forward with ankle in first half, tries to carry team home in the 3rd.

Viney, 33% D/E and another brainfade sliding in taking legs late… making that mistake at that point in the game was dumb.

Tom McDonald is just dumb at times.  Isn’t a game he doesn’t try and take on a tackle, ignores first option, gives away HtB and moans about it while the teammates he burnt just have to stand fuming.

Frustrating watching.

I hope goody makes some changes next week. The players playing for Casey this week know there is an opportunity for them if they play well

Grundy’s accuracy for goal is elite but can someone have a word to him about shushing the crowd after his goal. The rest of the game went downhill after that.

Credit to us for making a game of it after half time, but way more credit to Port and especially Butters.

That is true. You'd rather they go down fighting and I guess they did somewhat.

The game is becoming a poor spectacle. Four field umpires all gunning for their 15 seconds of fame by blowing the whistle on the most flaky and dubious decisions of the year.
Am I biased? Hell yeah!

But the sport is quickly losing its appeal to me. I pride myself on not losing control of my emotions but tonight I cussed and yelled like never before. Disgusting display of umpiring with the final boundary throw in clearly favouring Port but not being pulled up by the field umps.

It was a wet game being adjudicated like a dry game. Decisions like the JHF tripping free was absolutely [censored] ludicrous!

These umpires are seriously out of their depth.
Something needs to change because I’ve lost the loving feeling for the sport  of Aussie rules.

Only got ourselves to blame - can’t play 1 quarter and expect to win. JVRs poor discipline needs to be addressed. I think McVee may also need a spell. Nibbler also had a mare. Max has hardly taken a mark for 2 weeks.

max wont take too many contested marks just standing without even attempting to jump.

Port simply could not and will not play better. As for us, why we can't change how we play to suit the conditions is beyond me. About time the club made an official complaint about how Gawn is treated on the field.

This was the worst commentary of a sports game anywhere in the country ever heard. They should be ashamed

Like Hodgey, who conceded that the ball hit the deck, but doesn’t mind the mark being paid, because the bloke was playing in front 🤯

Not getting enough advantage out of our midfield. It’s where the games are lost. We seem to be drawn to the ball and get beaten on the outside. We are not in the mix this year on what I’ve seen. Prove me wrong Dees

What also [censored] me off was AnB’s last kick into the forward 50. Why would he do a flat kick looking for a mark in those conditions? Why not kick a high ball deep to put the pressure on Port’s defence and try and potentially get a stoppage. Was just dumb.

It was a strange choice, but we were thrashed at ground ball all night. So if he went long and the ball ended up on the ground, Port would have swept it away like they did all night.

Correct cost us the game.

Tough game made tougher by the umps.

Move on and get better

I think his knee is probably still an issue.

Good coaches have worked us out. Pick your way fwd out of defence then get into or behind our defenders with speed and chaos ball. Beat us on the outside at centre bounce and repeat dose. Find players in space and dont kick to May/lever or take them away from the ball. Pressure the receiver always and spread fast. Job done. Our forwards and mids dont adjust and push up hard enough on kick outs when the other side is moving the ball too easily - too much guarding grass. Tonite should not have been close - seriously outpointed for three quarters - that said we could and should have pinched it. Sleepless night for JVR - he will learn. Much work to do...

I still firmly believe we just got lucky and got hot in September 21. We are going to waste the talent that we have with what we have in charge.

You’re kidding right? We didn’t lose to a top 8 side in 2021. We were the best that year by far, but this competition moves so fast that you need to continuously innovate.

Absolutely pathetic all round performance

Come off it mate we only lost by four points against a top four side at their very partisan home ground.

I feel like throwing the baby, the bath and the whole ocean out the window right now.

I’m done with Ch.7 commentary - it’s so sub standard in so many areas it’s now a joke.

I’m now at the stage of syncing up Kayo with SEN/3AW etc.

You look at our lineup on paper and just wonder how we can be so ordinary so often when coming up against the better teams.

We seem to be smack bang in the middle of wasting the best group of MFC talent we may see in our lifetimes.

Then again, maybe our guys are just a bit overrated.

Game plan imo, we haven’t adjusted and teams have us figured out. We always play an extra behind the ball giving up equal numbers at the contest, this only works if we can split it at the contest and get the ball back via an interception often enough when we don’t. Problem is we aren’t winning it at the contest nearly enough and teams are being smarter when going forward. Goody needs to even out the numbers at the contest to give ourselves a chance.

I actually think Kozzie had been a shadow of himself since that report.

I suppose Godwin will say we are on a journey.   Yeah out of the top four and make up numbers again in sept. No where near premiership now beat the ****hose sides so what ?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
