No concussion = low impact.

This is the Guidelines on dangerous tackle offences:

This appears like it can only be the last one - slung into the ground with excessive force.

The AFL is hot on these this year. This one doesn’t leap out at me like others do. I assume he’d fail at the Tribunal but I really, really struggle to accept that this deserves a week whilst Meek was charged with kneeing for the second time and gets a fine, or Caldwell gets a fine for an intentional gut punch to Daicos on ANZAC Day. But here we are.

Yes, indeed. And Butler strikes Hibberd, another fine. What total utter biased fullkrap. Christian is a biased autocrat - an Oligarch- who needs to be dethroned.

If the slinging action alone gets a week, then Sicily needs to be looked at.

How can Christian grade it as high contact if you cannot see the end result in the vision? Just a guess? Staggering. If that is the only vision that exists we should appeal and Christian will look like an absolute goose.

Be a shame for Sparrow to miss a game in front of his family in Adelaide.

I dunno.
These are men in peak physical condition.
They take some ripping down.
You cannot go into a tackle half hearted risking a broken tackle or injury to yourself.
Can't go in thinking I'd better be gentle cause the other fella aint thinking like that.

Happened in front of me and I said ‘oooh’ when it happened, definitely a sling action and looked like Day ate the turf, took a bit of time to get back on his feet etc

based on what we’ve seen this season, the one match ban doesn’t surprise me

Looking forward to seeing Blake Howes hopefully get a crack and take his opportunity in the same was Chandler and McVee have. We are a much more energised and efficient side with these guys.

A Fine at best, force was not excessive enough, player not injured move on.

Stop wasting people's time Christian.

Gonna be difficult to appeal or convict without any footage of the actual tackle, ‘sling’ or ‘dump’…

Then how can you reasonably charge someone with the offence. The footage is there - I’m sure the AFL will release it to MFC 15 mins before the appeal cutoff, such is their integrity.

They will have vision of it

Day I think has been concussed before and if he hit his head as a result of the sling, there is the one week.

If he pinned his arms it would have been 2-3.

We will accept this one.

Let me know if Sharman goes for a front on spoil into Fogarty’s face. Far worse than JVR.

So Sparrow was to know that Day had been concussed, therefore, don't tackle. This tackling issue has become a victim of legalese semantics. Tackling is still part of the game and unless arms are pinned, the spur of the moment outcomes are incontrollable. I am beginning to believe the AFL is a crock of fulldust.

From the stands it looked like a rough tackle and I was secretly praying Day gets up and walks on or I knew Sparrow would be in trouble.
You could argue the impact grading but I don’t think we will bother. We have a big important game this week. JJ will take Sparrow’s place.

If Christian has called it on the vision shown in the news clip then he is very very clearly being vindictive towards the club that showed him up for the absurd farce we endured with JVR last week.

It is definitely long overdue for him to be replaced with an unbiased fair and intelligent MRO.

Tackles such as Sparrow's occur multiple times in a game and do not get reported.

I just mentioned the previous concussion. It’s not the reason for the penalty m. Head hitting the ground on an aggressive sling tackle is.

Take the week.

Was ordinary yesterday and have seen nothing to suggest he's improved at all this year.

Jordon or Harmes can take his spot.

It's line-ball but I don't have it the energy for another tribunal challenge.

Somewhere right now Michael Christian is settled back in a Chesterfield armchair, puffing on a Havana cigar, swirling a generous slurp of brandy in a balloon glass, thinking "yes, indeed ... revenge IS best served cold ..."

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
