I always like to see Melbourne win but, if I have a choice, I’d rather the team finish the game injury free.

Let’s just build and refine what we saw in last week’s scratch match.  The score doesn’t matter, but if we do these things, we’ll win anyway ……… and of course, no injuries.

Is either game going to feature on Casey Radio?

Would love to see McVee again press his claims to a round one berth. And hoping for a clarry goal. Love a clarry goal, usually means we are dominating.

Apparently Fritsch isn't playing today again?

Should we be worries about him for R1?

He is easily our 3rd or 4th most important player (50+ goals the last 2 seasons).

So missing as far as I can see are:

Viney, (inj) Fritsch, (inj)  Salem, (inj)  Tomlinson, ??  Rivers, (wonder why ?) Dunstan and J Smith of the "worthy"  to be selected otherwise I like the strength of the squad.

anyone wish to add to my concerns ?

Rivers has been named in the back pocket.

Dunstan is still recovering from a hamstring injury in one of our last intra-club match sims before the practice matches started.

Tomlinson was playing for Casey last week and I assume he’ll play for them again today.

Joel Smith also just resumed training in a limited capacity just before the match sims. Did he play for Casey last week against the Saints? If so he’ll likely play again this week. Otherwise I expect he’ll be a week or two away from returning via Casey.

No injuries and further refinement of our forward 50 approach.

Would like to see Nankervis cop a belt or 2. He's meted out plenty of punishment to Maxy over the journey so would like to see the ledger evened up a little. Any by legal means of course. I don't want any suspensions.

Win or lose does not matter. No injuries please.

What has happened to Fritsch?

Who knows.

MFC website barely ever updates fans on the injury front.

This was discussed on another thread.  Fritsch's foot was stomped on by accident in training a few weeks back.  They're managing it conservatively and letting him heal (which is going well apparently).  It's not on the website because this is the kind of injury that teams will exploit / target Fritsch for

As i can't make it, and find the low camera angle at VFL grounds unwatchable understandably, the DL post match thread will suffice. Unless someone wants to rent a crane and live stream illegally 😂

I'm beginning to think Chris Scott might be onto something with the 18 min quarters and 26 rounds instead of 2 potato quality praccy match Sims.

One of the ugliest aspects of football is the players who deliberately injure others!  I alternate between disgust and fury, and sadness for our boys on this front

Glad it's not really seen in AFLW and hope it never is!

man they are really struggling for ‘notable’ absentees from the Tigers team

pretty much full strength

Yep....feel dirty shelling out for Kayo. Love of club I guess greater than contempt for the Murdoch clan.

Gee we are spoiled. Is it just me that can remember only one replay on the weekend in the good old days. And it was rarely our team in it.

Yes the old am radio had to suffice.

It’s only started to drop off in the last 5 to 10 years.
Boys will be boys.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
