Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That pick would then be traded back to Essendon in a deal that would see Dylan Shiel land at St Kilda, in a move that would bolster the Saints engine room.

The rationale behind the deal would be Essendon clearing Shiel’s remaining salary off their books for the final year of his contract, to increase some flexibility in their salary cap, to help bring in their two free-agent targets.

It has the benefit for Essendon of handing them a handy draft pick, while turning Shiel into McKay. At St Kilda, it means they effectively swap Gresham (who they don’t really want at this point) for Shiel.

I reckon Ralphy’s got his wires crossed on this one.

The Saints surely want a decent pick for Gresham and Shiel is worth nothing given his age, injuries and salary.

Unless there’s no market at all for Gresham and the Bombers have to pay him massive overs I’d expect the Saints to hold on to the good pick and hand Essendon a lesser one.

Either way, it’s the height of all dodgyness and the AFL need to stamp it out.

(Unless we can do something similar if JJ and Grundy both pick Sydney and we can pay some of Grundy’s contract in return for the Swans boosting JJ to buy us good compo).

I reckon picks will get it done if we want it to. We have a top 5-7 pick, another late first rounder, two seconds and a future first, that's enough capital, along with what North already have to revitalise their list.

Larkey is 26, a long term deal with us gives him the chance to play finals.

North are having 9 first round picks over a 3 year stretch and Larkey is happy there. He’s not going to move. They’ll improve next year, win at least 10 games if not play finals in 2025 and be a finals lock from then on.

Plus what are North going to do? Draft Nate Caddy and hope in 3-5 years he’s good? They’d be mad to get rid of a key forward just for more picks when they’ve had a stack and got more coming.

The talk of Larkey is fantasy. If we land a coup, it’ll be Ben King or Aaron Naughton. Both will cost us plenty.

Would be a small drop in the ocean if it leads us to another flag though. We are in contention now, strike while the irons still hot. Go all in and bring in talent that will help us for the now

Even fake accounts can strike gold sometimes. ;) What if we offered more than 6 years? We have draft capital to offer North and cap space to offer Larkey. We're in a rare position. Who knows.

And didn't even realise it was a fake account. At least I'll acknowledge a fake rumour compared to old wink wink over there who'll claim it as is own.

On Larkey, you don't sign a huge 6 year contract only to then turn around and speak to other clubs 5 minutes. He'd be nearly on a million a year so money wise he's set at North.

C'mon mate, even you're smart enough to think that's absolutely absurd.

If this was Petracca or Oliver doing this you'd shut it down as nonsense.

You might find this interesting because at this stage I don’t believe the media even know about it.

As strange as it seems, Taylor Adams from the Pies has contacted the Swans himself to discuss their interest in him moving there. Wants to play more midfield and clearly feels he’s not getting the love from the Pies.

Totally separate to this, my sources tell me that Callum Mills has badly damaged his shoulder/collarbone in a mad Monday wrestling match and will miss a major part of preseason. Apparently Longmire was as angry as he’s ever been after hearing about it.

@goodwindees strikes again

Brody Grundy. Not equivalent, but not too dissimilar

Barry Prendergast.  He drafted guys who were rated at the time.  The development was horrendous. And a few had injuries like Blease who badly broke his leg before he started and Strauss who took a little while and just as he was beginning to look like the standard he busted his leg too. And then there were a few big misses.  A very forgettable time.

I have forgotten alot of things from that time period but never the name Barry Prendergast.

Etched into my brain for all the wrong tormenting reasons.

Entice Taylor walker to cross on a 2-year deal. better chance of a flag before he retires (although i tip the Crows to play finals next year)

We already went after Walker and Fogarty 2 years ago especially Walker and were politely declined.

Online article on the Herald Sun website purporting to have the "latest" on Petty. Can't access it.

No SA homecoming for Dees

Melbourne will rebuff Adelaide’s attempts to secure star duo Harry Petty or Tom Sparrow in the Shane McAdam deal.

The Crows are keen on a ready-made quality player in return for McAdam, who turned his back on a fresh deal at Adelaide to join Melbourne in the exchange period.

But the Demons will likely offer the Crows a third-round pick or low-round pick swap in the McAdam deal.

Melbourne’s top priority is to secure adequate compensation in the trade for Brodie Grundy to Sydney, such as a second-round pick.

Article on sen in regards to suns pick 4.

“It will be changing hands. Whether North can compete with the Bulldogs remains to be seen, or whether North pivot and go for Melbourne’s first pick.”

Swear afl journalists have such a poor understanding of the trade and draft period. In what world would we accept pick 14 and 19 for a top 5 pick. We don't need points and 14 and 19 will become compromised by at least 4 academy and f/s selections. Would roughly look more like pick 7 for 18 and 23.

It was quoting Sammy Edmund.  I listened to the segment and thought he meant to say West Coast, but said Melbourne.  He might have just had Melbourne on his mind, because he also suggested Dees could still have a go at Pick 1.

That said, if Roos would still like to take Sanders, they could probably split pick 2 (or a band 1 compensation pick for McKay) with us and still be pretty certain of getting him with our pick from Freo (would be independent of whether they land pick 4).

Maybe they are looking to split their 2nd pick? NM Pick 3 (McKay comp) for 5 and 15. They can then use their first rounders and chase GCS and end up with 2, 4 and 5.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
