Obviously haven't had the best season this year, but similar things to your comments above were stated at the end of 2020 and the next year, they were both well deserved premiership players.

Write them off at your peril I say.

Both, but particularly T Mac have earnt their right to retire or play out his contract whenever they see fit.

Happy for them to go on if they believe they are up to it.

McDonald is fine to go on in my mind, as his issues stem from lack of fitness due to foot trouble. Brown's knee is never going to get better, so he needs to just manage it and play as much footy as his body lets him.

Hearing a few sources say we are still pretty heavily into Georgiadis.

He does have a 4 year offer on the table from Port, but hasn’t signed on yet

Cool beans Jayden.

My guess is BBB would be the more likely of the two to pull up stumps early, but I think he still has pleanty to offer us on the list next season.  Even as a depth player at Casey he's got such great footy smarts and character that he'd be a great mentor to someone like Jefferson.

I'd also love to see BBB kick a big bag for the MFC and I recon it's still a possibility if he can get his body right for long enough.

Gawn Dog, can you please explain if we're getting pick 5 and splitting for 7 and 11 (which seems like a potentially good move for us), where does pick 4 come from?

GCS pick 4, which we take through a pick swap of our 2nd rounders and pick 15. Should give the GCS a net 400 minimum depending on what we put up. They’ll need to find at least 1000 pts somehow if they want all 3 academy players.

Mitch Georgiades swap for B Grundy might get some traction. Win win.

Problem with Mathieson is that he thinks he's beast mode as well, probably refers to himself in the 3rd person when he talks too.
NQR AFL standard player, West Coast needs a rebuild, not a re-tool.  Go for Devon Robertson.

Mathieson has a bit too much of Angry Phil Read in him hahaha

Really don't want to lose Jordon. He is one player I hope we lock in. I hear Harmes may explore options and all good - love him and thank him for his service but better opportunities might be elsewhere.

Schache is a no risk tall extension imo.

Sounds like Sydney are going for NMFC McKay with an offer that triggers band 1 compo. Surely not first two picks - plus Sanders

Welcome back NSC! Where the hell have you been?!

there's also far more demand for a number 1 ruck now than 12 months ago, Swans ruck has retired, Port cleary don't have any idea who they like/don't like any of them and the cats have missed the 8 and have just lost one of their two 33yo rucks to retirement too.

If that was the case, he wouldn't have made it to FA and 8 years in the system

Anyone who has even managed a single AFL game is a significantly better footballer than me, but in the scheme of targeting who to recruit, Rhys's disposal is ordinary, he's managed an average of 9 games per seasons being in the AF, never playing more than 15 games in one season. So, he still fits in that NQR category as an AFL player. He's a solid VFL player...

West Coast won't improve by settling for players like Mathieson, oh and 'Beast mode' is a moniker that I'd attach to someone like Viney, Matt Rowell, Dangerfield (in his heyday)

I would prefer we blood another midfielder with Jordan’s minutes. I don’t see anything elite in his game.

Not according to the Age this morning.

We don't have one at VFL level unfortunately unless you regard TW, Laurie or AMW as midfielders

I think Taj and Laurie are mids, but they're smaller than JJ.

Laurie was a mid as junior and Woey a wing IIRC. Also we have ND4/5 coming our way - they need a spot to compete toward.

Not yet. Would be happy to throw Freos second rounder their way if we don’t use it to trade up for another pick in the top ten. Flanders is AFL ready and performing well in the midfield now he’s got his chance. Can play inside or outside and form part of our rotation after our big guns.

John Ralph hinting to Gary On The Couch that the Dees were meeting with Reid.  With North getting pick one it seams unlikely now though

BBB getting his body right is a rather large 'if' given his chronic knee issue. Likely to retire for mine maybe with some payout for final year.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
