Without a doubt the big bolter of the draft, Pickett is now expected to go early in the piece to Melbourne after having been seen as a likely third-round pick just a month ago.

The Pickett selection was somewhat curious, too. Melbourne needs extra speed and class through the forward line, which Pickett can provide. But many rival clubs suggested a mid-first round pick was a reach for the small forward, despite his outstanding agility and speed.

Could the Demons have gone for a player like Cody Weightman, who was the national carnival’s leading goalkicker, or Miles Bergman, who was one of the biggest risers in the second half of the year? Both showed more consistency in 2019 than Pickett.

I think psychologically he probably has it at the back of his head that players are now being suspended for a variety of high hits and tackles, and maybe he is second guessing himself. It's probably subconscious.

What a wonderful day is the 1st of May 2023, I am feeling almost light headed, we have all been hoping for this outcome and dreading the opposite outcome. We are truly well-served by our recruiting team. They have been seeing things in recruits that few others see, ever-saw, then quietly went about the business of securing with deliberation and wisdom. I've tried to be pretty chill regarding Kossie's decision so far this season and tried not to be too scared by the Dogga Jackson experience, but I'll have to admit, that since the 'Gather Round' Kossie / family decision making and then the well founded rumors started that he'd made made his decision started a few weeks back, I've been visiting the MFC website in expection of good news on a semi-religious basis at least a few times a day (with a few morning and evening prayers then in for good measure).

Mostly looking forward to enjoying us play out the season now as you suggest, but we've now got the Chin Chandler contract to worry about (dam, he shouldn't be playing so well and raising his contract value expctaions).  In all seriousness though, I'd be highly surprised if Kade leaves.  I think his management will fox about with their language and draw it out a bit to make sure that get him the best terms he can at the MFC (probably more though long tenure than $), but I sense that Kade himself is pretty emotionally committed and settled at the MFC to be actively seeking out options else where.
