Pride before a fall

I would happily take pick 5 if it means Geelong miss finals

It’s okay everyone - we’ll either get pick 4 from Freo or we’ll trade GC for it. Easy done…

In all seriousness why couldn’t have Geelong just done their job? Even in a loss I hate them

Pick 4 looking shaky. Suns will get belted by Brisbane this week and drop below Freo on percentage.

[censored] you Geelong. Pathetic reigning premiers can’t even beat a bottom 4 interstate team at home to secure a finals place. Absolutely pathetic today.

Pick 4's not gone yet. Depends on GC

A Geelong loss always feels good, makes the squeeze for bottom 4 of the 8 tougher for them.

Yes, Glass-half because Geelong's chances of making the finals look very shaky:

GEE run home: POR (H), COL (A), STK (A), BULL (H)

As for the death ride:

CGS run home :BRI (H) - this round, ADE (A), SYD (A), CAR (H), NOR (A)

FRE run home: BRI (H), WCE (A), POR (H), HAW* (A)

* With Fremantle winning today the Hawks have pick 3 locked in so they can afford to play all four quarters.

Still currently hold pick 4 but we need gold coast and Adelaide to win some games now

They play each other next week so at least one of them will get a win

Freo has Lions, Eagles, Port, Hawks
Suns have Lions, crows, swans, blues north
Crows have port, suns, lions, swans, eagles

I’ll be cold in the ground before a bemoan a Geelong loss.  Book an early holiday Cats!

Picks are over rated.

Geelong probably not featuring in this years finals - absolutely priceless.

chris scott's boys must have had a round of flu - hohoho!

****test result today. Looks like we’ll finish with pick 6 now. Means we won’t have ammo to trade for Harley Reid and we will have less points to trade with Gold Coast too. So this loss is a double whammy for us. Gutted.

We should never bemoan a Geelong loss. Not to worry. We’re still getting a good pick.

And go Suns

Look at it from another perspective… Freo still plays both Brisbane and Port at home this year. If we continue winning, Freo coming into some sort of form could help nudge us into 2nd spot and a home qualifying final.

The only thing that trumps my hate for Geelong is my love for Melbourne

Quite.

The Death Ride has now entered the final act.

You see, the flailing of the riders heading for the afterworld was always going to happen. And now, with Geelong wounded, the Fremantle Living Dead have Brisbane and Port in their last 4 rounds. The husked corpses of the west win those games and we rejoice, they lose and we chortle. Even if they were to win 3 of their last 4 from here - that would get them only above GC.

So I guess we need a new ride; the Gold Coast Love Ride.

Go Sunnies Go.

Cats vs Freo at KP

That'll sort out the % differential between them and Hawks!

I got that horribly wrong 🤦

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
