We manage to hit Fritsch on the [censored] multiple times a game, perhaps it is a leading/spacing issue with our forwards as much as a delivery issue?

I was more referring to Ben Brown having to play the role of a pack horse in the absence of T Mac. Ben Brown's strength is marking on the lead, but he wasn't allowed that luxury.

Fritta is able to kick goals in a variety of ways. I'm not expecting Jefferson to play in a similar manner to Fritta. But I can see JVR being capable of scoring in different ways.

As others have said, Jefferson looks like a project player.

Frittata is a bit of a hybrid trek though - doesn't get the luxury feeds as the likes of Lloyd used to, and even Hawkins in the contemporary context.

IF our mids / half forwards were to lower their eyes and hit targets on the lead the sky is the limit.

Rather than call him a project player I would think that he is a developing KPF that the club have high expectations for, as is JVR who is one year into his career and looking the goods.

Looks like the tall son of Mr.Bean.

I thought he looked a bit like Chris Lamb but hope is a lot more successful.!!

Its irrelevant but I would say the club was actively trying to climb up the draft order because the players like Phillipou were significantly better.

I saw nothing in his highlights or other clips that demonstrated any aggression or physicality. He looks like a nice schoolboy player. And aggression and physicality IMO can't be taught or learned. A bit like Weid.

Cant think of one successful KPP that doesn't have it. So I would say the odds are against him being the one to do it.

I agree to an extent, you could see in JVR from day one, he loved running into people. Watching him at Casey he sometimes couldn't help himself and would have a momentary smile when he had crashed in and brought the ball to ground. With Jeffer I will have a much better idea when I've seen him play 10 games for Casey. It won't be career defining necessarily but I would like to see more JVR than Watts.

Watts could have been a great player, but it was the mental side he lacked. Just didn't want to train hard. We know nothing off Jefferson or how he will develop. Comparing him to someone who just didn't have any drive to be better is silly.

That didn't stop people commenting. All those comments were made by various users. Fritch wasn't on an AFL list at 18. Jefferson might smash it down at Casey.

For those old enough to remember, Royce Hart at 17 years was 69kg when he arrived at Richmond, worked out at Frank Sedgman’s gym (no club facilities at Punt Road or high performance manager) and built himself up, and as they say, the rest is history, best centre-half forward in living memory

Of course it CAN be done if the player has the mental strength and will to do it.

Some like Watts never had the desire, some like Weid wanted to but couldn't get there.

I still maintain that hardness at the contest and a fierce desire to win contests is rarely taught. It's innate mostly.

We drafted Fitsch as a 21 yo, Fritta didn't make the cut at Eastern Ranges in his 18th year because he was too small.

He would have originally been in the same pool as Tracc, Gus and Lever (along w/ANB & Langdon).  We've done well out of the '14 crop.

Jefferson has time to build up his strength.

Cadman is at GWS.

But if we continue with our game style of kicking it into the forward pocket on top of our key forwards head, then Jefferson will find it tough. There is no evidence of  our superior mids giving our key forwards silver service. In fact Nick Larkey at North had it easier than our key forwards.

Sorry MO got it wrong . Yes GWS have Cadman.
I must admit I have looked at the highlights of Jeffer snd believe he looked as if he can get kicks in different forward positions snd Hope by they time our forward game plan is much more organised. Can't believe Stafford  has not been replaced. JVR might straighten  us up also.

Met a mate at the races who knows the Jefferson family well. Family has been running the Jefferson Ford car sales business for about 40 years. They are big supporters of Collegians in the VAFA where the father was a top player. Matthew has been a leading junior footballer both at school (Wesley College) and with Ashburton in the Yarra Valley Junior Football League (he was in their interleague side with Elijah Tsatas and Ollie Sestan) and various representative sides from Oakleigh Chargers to Vic Metro in the National Championships. Reckons he needs 12 months in the AFL system and he’ll be a gun.

Seriously?  He kicked four goals last week for Casey v Sydney in only his second game at this level.

Tell me you don't pay attention to football without telling me you don't pay attention to football.

IIRC he kicked 1:4 or thereabouts the previous week so quite an exciting prospect as many have mentioned

Early days but it should make following Casey in 2023 very enjoyable

If Jefferson was 5kgs heavier in his draft year we would be licking our lips. I like his output in his first 2 games at Casey. He looks a player!

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
